January 2009The transfer window opens and we welcome: Plastic Fantastic, a 23 yo Columbian AMRC who looks superb, bought for 16k from Kecskemét; Onion Bhaji, a 24 yo Argentinian MRC who also looks superb, bought for 2k from the same club; Monster Monster, a 24 yo Senegalese DLC who is just huge. The 10k + 10k deal for him is a bargain. BTW, did I mention he was huge? I know what you’re thinking, too many forriners in a league that only allows five per match day squad, so I’m trying to sell a couple off. Russian Monkey left to go to DAC for a fee of up to 10k, he had been playing well lately, but was behind French Guitarist in his best role. We also had two others who could play there if needs be, so he was gone. There had also been a lot of interest for U21 keeper Turntable Jnr, too much interest if you know what I mean. He will be getting some playing time soon and considering another foreigner, Bardo In Europe was now 36, he may be getting phased out soon. I was on the search for a Hungarian keeper to help with the role. And right on cue, he picked up an injury that would put him out for around three months, almost the rest of the season. A loanee of any description may have to be in order. Friendly time with Admira Wacker of Austria visiting Wittmann Antal Park for the first time. Despite losing 5-2, there were some positives from the game, Monster Monster, the Senegalese fella looked very good. Turntable Jnr made some decent saves and Final Chapter didn’t look out of place against a French “defender” who plays for Arsenal in real life. I’m still looking for a keeper and Bochum come in for Final Chapter, the Georgian goal machine. 45k not really enough is it, let’s see how 5.5m sounds. They said “No”. Dutch Frivolity (DLC) got a move away from the team after a tough time for him. He’d made 37 apps for us over three and a half seasons, a victim to better players being at the team, rather than his own shitness. Oh, hang on…

Playing in Poland, I usually organise to play against the lower league Polish sides to get the conifence and I have Czech sides asking me to play either home(the bigger one's like Sparta Prague) and away(the lower league ones). I new the team was decent when I could beat these teams.
I had a great end of season last night, I convincingly beat Rangers 2-0 in Holland in the WAFA Cup. The second goal was the weirdest long shot going in I've seen. It perouieted and dipped in the air! Or something odd in teh air before crashing in off the post, all at super fast speed. Rangers played badly with a good team. I then went on to do the treble and win the Girly Cup. I'd already wrapped up the league with 4 games in hand.

February 2009
Austria Wien make the visit for an expected 30k friendly. A few changes to the previous team, playing for some fitness. So whoever said it was a good idea to arrange some friendlies for some cash was obviously having a laugh. The 5-1 home defeat would attest to that.
Still looking for transfers, especially for the GK position, Újpest visit us meanwhile and leave with their tails between their legs. A 1-0 victory, richly deserved and with our full strength team. A nice bit of cash in the bank and a nice little win to get our morale up.
A home game to Debrecen as part of the deal for Picture Exclusive was next on the agenda and we put out the same team, looking for consistency. An early goal went past Turntable Jnr but we fought back brilliantly, piling the pressure on and getting an equaliser on 28 mins with Final Chapter getting back to form. We scored early in the second when Down To Earth was struggling with clearing his lines, so Monster Monster stepped in, whacked the ball to the half way line for Travel Agent Groupie to thread a first time ball for Breath Catcher who curled one into the far post. Magic. 69 mins gone and they got one back on the break, but I still felt we were In control of the game. Lily Glue scored the winner with 11 mins to go from the edge of the area after some nice work from The Giant.
Two narrow wins over two decent first division teams was nice. Can we play these every week?
The 22nd Feb sent us to Celldomolk and a decent start to the second part of the season, let’s hope we can continue our league form into this game. Plastic Fantastic got a goal on his debut 11 minutes into the game after a long clearance by Monster Monster. Chemical Movement then set Plastic up for his second of the game with a huge cross from out wide, a great header. But the home side struck back with a free kick just before half time, It may be a nervous opening fifteen mins in the second half. We went back into our shells a bit to soak up the pressure and then midway through the half got our chance to counter, Breath Catcher latching onto t along clearance to surprise the on-rushing keeper with an early taken shot into the back of the net.
Bodajk were beaten at home to Héviz by three goals to one, the upshot of this being that we were now seven points in front with ten games left.

March 2009
Bottom of the table Balatonlelle arrived in poor form and it would appear they had little chance of improving that with us. We replace Plastic Fantastic with Travel Agent Groupie who had come back to fitness and Breath Catcher is replaced by Second Chance Saloon because of suspension. We went into the break the happier side with a fortunate goal from Argentinian midfielder Onion Bhaji, who wanted to find Final Chapter with a cross, but he missed it and wrong footed the keeper. We’ll take those all day though, to be fair. 66 minutes gone and Second Chance Saloon got a rare goal, getting on the end of a move involving three other players and a precise pass from Onion Bhaji. It ended 2-0
Wins for Bodajk and Makó kept the gaps to 2nd and 3rd at 7 and 10 points with nine games left.
Felcsút were lying in 6th place and 5th in the form table (we’re top) so were playing well. Tempted By Horses made an appearance in an unfamiliar central position as Onion Bhaji was injured. Final Chapter and Breath Catcher scored once each in the first half hour to show they were back as a pair. The home side did equalise with a fantastic free kick in between, but we looked very comfy indeed. That was until from the kick off the home side scored again, a sloppy goal from our point of view, Tempted By Horses missed a tackle and left us exposed through the middle for an easy slot past Turntable Jnr. With only a minute left on the clock, Chemical Movement was brought down on the edge of the box, he picked himself up and sracked the ball from 20 yards into the corner past one of our old boys Miss Krankie. It ended 3-2 to us and a tough game out of the way.
Bodajk-Siofók and Makó both drew their games, meaning we were 9 and 12 points in front of them, Héviz just behind Makó on GD. Budakalász were our next opponents and this was a must win, as our two games after that were against DAC in 5th and Makó in 3rd and I could imagine dropped points against both of those teams. We welcome back French Guitarist from injury who had played very well before it. On 17 minutes, Smilie’s Toothpaste bombed down the right and swung a pass over for Chemical Movement to latch onto. He got up above his marker and nodded it down for Breath Catcher to sweetly spank a half volley in past the onlooking keeper. An equaliser came against the run of play after a wayward pass from the tired looking French Guitarist. A nice strike, mind you. Just before I could make a change, the Guitarist slotted a throughball down the channel for Chemical Movement who can strike them when he wants to. He wanted his goal bonus today to send us 2-1 up. Breath Catcher got another whilst they were chasing the game for a convincing victory.
I was offered a three year extension on my contract with a transfer budget of 1.6m and a wage budget of 22.5k per week. It would mean trimming the squad, but I could manage that, I’m sure.

It was an extra 50 Euros a week which pays for the Goulash, I suppose. I think I will have to fiddle with some of the squad though, the new guys that have come in recently are great, so I would be loathed to lose them. It may be I have to sell the frings players that are earningbetween 200-400 p/w and get some yoof in on lower wages. This would solve my U21 problem too. It's just getting a balance, I suppose, but I foresee it causing some problems if we do get promotion. Saying that, the board might increase my budgets anyway, if we get up there.

April 2009Onto DAC then who were currently 5th. Final Chapter returned from international duty and hopefully back into the old routine. :checkit: The first hour of the game wasn’t a great spectacle, just after that though it livened up, the home side, DAC, capitalising on a missed header from Down To Earth and they went ahead. We pushed on, bringing on Resulting Confusion for the ineffective Breath Catcher. 79 minutes gone and Chemical Movement struck yet another free kick into the net, this time from about 25 yards out. I can’t believe how many he has scored from this position. We had to sub The Giant due to an injury, Me No Sucky getting the nod and he helped us to pound out the draw. A good result in all honesty, Bodajk were beaten by 3th placed Makó and Héviz jumped into 3rd due to a win over the bottom side Balatonlelle. 24 games gone, we were 10 points ahead of the pack. The 12th April and a very important game for us at home, if we win then we start to pull away from the rest and with a couple of easier games after this, could possibly win this league. We were starting to get screwed with the U21 rule (at least 2 in the squad) so that would be something we would have to thin kabout in the summer. But anyway, on to the game. The first half hour was strange, the away side having the better chance, our lot having most of the possession. French Guitarist was brought down in the area for a peno, he was injured because of it and Chemical Movement hit the keeper with it. Tart. The chances were non-existent in the second half and neither Lily Glue nor Captain Beefheart could make a difference. Bodajk-Siófon and Héviz both won to pull within eight points of us with five games left. At home to Paks who lie in 10th had been on a very good run of four straight wins before their last defeat, so this wouldn’t be a pushover. Due to Rainbow Feet being injured, we had to rejig, Yum Yum Pig’s Bum had to come in and as a Georgian, we had to drop a forriner, Columbian Plastic Fantastic made way for Travel Agent Groupie. Just before the half hour mark The Giant was brought down in the box after a nice turn by the Brazilian, Chemical Movement scored from the penalty spot. On 41 minutes, a corner from The Chemical was met by Monster Monster and he thumoed it in the net. To minutes later, a solo effort from Travel Agent Groupie sealed the win before half time. The Giant scored a curling 25 yarder with just over 10 minutes left, then Lily Glue scored a penalty on 85. A rout and 5-0 to us.

May 2009We keep an unchanged starting eleven for the away trip to Dorog, Lily Glue replaced on the bench by Tempted By Horses due to a hamstring injury. We started well, Yum Yum feeding Chemical Movement down the right who put a pass into Breath Catcher just inside the box. He jinked one way, turned and rifled a shot into the far corner. It was a beauty. Chemical Movement and The Giant both scored before the half hour was gone and it was looking very comfortable again. On 67 mins, Monster Monster made his first mistake of his Mosonmagyaróvár career and gave awa y a penalty which was converted. It finished 3-1 to us and we go to the home game with Héviz eight points ahead of them and Bodajk. A win and we’re up… An unchanged team for this one and why should we change? We’re invincible! Our incessant pressure in the first half paid off after 21 minutes, French Guitarist heading in a Yum Yum cross. On the half hour, a corner came in, but wait! It’s a trick! It was pulled back to Tempted By Horses at the edge of the box who volleyed it and the keeper parried it out to Monster Monster (yet again) who struck it from 12 yards through a crowded box and into the corner. 45 mins and Yum Yum played a hopeful ball into the box for French Guitarist to control and ping one. 4-0 at HT. Put a fork in this one, it’s done. A bit of pressure here, a bit of pressure there and we scored through Final Chapter with just under ten minutes left. Rah-rah, 5-0. Hévíz! Your boys took a hell of a beating! You canutes! And we gained promtion™ at the fourth time of asking, now the hard work starts. We visit Tatabánya for our last away game of the season and I decide to rest a couple of players. Onion Bhaji came in for Frenchie and scored after 18 minutes after a nice through ball from Rainbow Feet. 30 mins gone and Chemical Movement converted a penalty I didn’t see given. I was typing. Anyhoo, it ended 2-0 to us, like you’re bothered. You just want to see me struggle next season. Dunaújváros had their last game of the season at our party. Breath Catcher brought the vodka with a stunning strike after 20 minutes, but the away side equalised soon after. It annoyed me, as did the couple of niggling injuries we had picked up during the half. Smillie’s Toothpaste and Resulting Confusion came off for Person’s Ice Cream and Captain Beefheart. Plastic Fantastic scored our second and fittingly Chemical Movement scored our last goal of the season. He’d been superb this season. We were given 30k for our troubles of giving the league some entertaining football this season, the tight gets.

Cheers guys, I must say that at the start of the Hévíz game, I was swearing too much "Get stuck into the fucker!!" and the like caused Nic to get her backside off the sofa and bat me on the head with a magazine. I saw the funny side, of course.
I'll do the summary bit tonight and hopefully get towards the start of the season with some new signings.

Apologies for the lateness of the wrap up, I've only just finished the after season party. What do you mean this isn't real? So why have I had so much beer this week then?
June 2009
End of Season Wrap Up
Goalkeepers Croatian Bardo In Europe was now 36, but could still pull out the performances. We had a very promising U21 in Turntable Jnr who had coped very well when asked to. The problem for next year was whether or not to persist with the elderly one, or give youth a chance. It was a tricky one and would be solved if we could get a decent Hungarian in the window. If we could, then Bardo would have to go.
Defenders Smilie’s Toothpaste and Rainbow Feet were automatic choices for the full back slots and performed excellently. Young Georgian Yum Yum Pig’s Bum had been bouth in the winter break and had been eased into the fold putting in six starts for an average of 7.67, very admirable. Rainbow was now 34 and may lack the stamina to last in the top flight. Benji’s Bowl and Down To Earth had been quality in the DC role and would definitely hold their own in the top flight. However, Benji wouldn’t be an auto choice, that fell to new signing Monster Monster, our Senegalese bloke whose sheer name on the team sheet was terrifying. For me, not the oppo. He didn’t have the greatest pace, but he didn’t need to, his other attributes more than made up for it. Seaweed Fry Up had been a regular for the Hungarian U21s and deserved a chance in the first team, but he was unlikely to get it due to the form of the others.
Midfielders The Giant had been just that. He was certainly a bargain at 16k and held the centre of the park extremely well, alongside French Guitarist. They were a very good combination. Onion Bhajo and Plastic Fantastic signed in January had done their part but a lack of opportunities for the pair was due to the foreigner rule. A real shame as they both had what it takes. Travel Agent Groupie on the right wing had a great season, 25 apps, 4 goals and 10 assists for an ave of 7.60, he wasn’t fazed by the arrival of Plastic at all. Ex-Grey Fourteen Teeth had served as a bit part player and would more than likely be released when his contract expires and Tempted By Horses was an eternal sub this season, but he played his part too. The star of the midfield (and would probably get the fans accolades) was Chemical Movement. Scoring 15 goals in 23 apps with 8 assists for an ave of 8.09, he was top of the list in the league but if it wasn’t for the Brazilian Giant (IMO) he wouldn’t have had the freedom to do what he did. Top quality anyway.
Strikers The two main ones Final Chapter and Breath Catcher were a great partnership scoring 14 and 15 respectively and assisting 9 and 10 too. They just seemed to have a great understanding and long may it continue. Resulting Confusion has had his nose put out with this, but there is no room for sentiment in this game, is there?
Summary What’s not to like about this season? Having a goal difference that was better than the goals scored for every team bar one is a fantastic achievement and one I will be very proud of. I don’t think it will happen again next season, but why think about that just now? Our two league defeats were both away from home and both by a 2-1 scoreline and both were close enough to say that a draw would have been a fair result. Diósgyõr were promoted from the West division and MTK and Vác were relegated from the 1st division. Roll on August and the new season!

Is the foreign ruling different in your the league promoted from too? In Poland, I was only allowed 3 in the lower league, while in the top league, I can have 5. I've a dilemma, I've been offered the Lens job, which would give me 450k and 20M pounds to spend. They are in the relegation zone but should be easy enough to get out of there. The problem resides in my current team, Piast, who are playing very well. I beat Arsenal in a lucky win to take the GIrly Super Euro Cup to kick start the season with a nice start, then I've gone on a 15(or is that 16) match unbeaten run in the league, and then in Europe, made it to the group stages of the LAC by knocking out some Macedonian side and Slavia Prague, then was placed in a group with Liverpool, Roma and PSV. I drew the first 4 games and won the last one but have to play Liverpool at Anfield to take the spoils. Either that, or hope PSV takes Roma in Holland. I want to leave, but prefer to leave at the end of the season, but would like to move to a team like Lens. I'm enjoying this season, except for my first defeat with Austria against Bulgaria which should have ended in a draw, but can get over that as I've taken them to the WC from a group that consisted of Spain, Hungry, Lithuania, Moldova and Belgium :cab: I've saved at this point to have a think. What are your thoughts on this leaving issue.

It just depends on how in love with your current team you are. It seems that if you're having the thought to go, then you fancy the Lens job. I think that it's a great opportunity, to be honest and the French league, in my experience is a good league to manage in. Has the Polish league become too much of a stroll for you? Do you need a fresh challenge?

June 2009 continued
The Div 2 East team of the season had a few of our players in it: Smilie’s Toothpaste, Down To Earth, Rainbow Feet, The Giant, Travel Agent Groupie, Chemical Movement and Final Chapter, with Breath Catcher on the bench. Chemical Movement got player of the year, with The Giant in second and I got manager of the month.
Huzzah!
Chemical Movement swept the board this season getting the fan’s gong.
We get a batch of trainees into the U19s, with DMC Master Of Puppets looking the pick of the bunch. If we were back in the 2nd division and without The Giant, he may well be a starter. Yes, he’s potentially that good.
We get the “battle bravely against relegation” message from the board, which is always nice to see.
We nab Slovenian right wing back Think Of A Number for 30k and he will fight for time with Smilie’s Toothpaste. We then sign Paraguayan 22 yo keeper Fortune Cookie from Debrecen for a fee of 20k. He is a very good keeper and this means that we’ll be putting Bardo In Europe on the transfer list. There’s no point in having two foreign keepers.
Defending champions Ferencváros make an expected 200k bid for Breath Catcher which was turned down outright. He has no minimum fee, so we’re safe there. :checkit:
