So after a brief sabbatical of two and a half years, I rejoined and have got so far... I've just beaten Vasas at Wittman Antal Park 3-0. They'd only conceded 2 goals before that. I have sold Flatulent Fox for €1.7M PLUS €1M after 30 apps PLUS €35k p/m for 2 years PLUS 20%. So we're just about in the black. :thumb: I have bought two strikers and a cracking 19yo left winger, but here is Master Of Puppets, who I said when he arrived in the yoofers would be a decent player. He's only 18...

He wouldn't get in my Meda side. Not strong enough or tall enough for a DMC....

We're at the winter break now, 16 games gone and we've slipped a little, down to 3rd within a point (or maybe two) of leaders Debrecen. Vasas in 2nd. Our GD is way above the other two though, so that's good to know if it comes down to that. We now have €2.5M to spend, as we sold left back Gelatine Hankie to an Austrian side for €600K plus add-ons. We have a cracking LB waiting anyway and also I'm trying to buy a Hungarian one to keep in chack with the 5 non-EU rule which is screwing Gyor into the ground. Two thirds of their first team (approx 15 players) and at least four fifths of the reserves (about 20 players) are FGN and after spending a chunk to get these lot in, the wages are killing them and there's a fire sale going on. I've got a FC and a DL coming in from them and am awaiting a couple of others too. The idea is to rotate and flog them on. Hopefully, more tonight for you lucky, lucky people.

On a decent run, but we have some tough games coming up. We have Vasas in the QF of the cup, with league games against Diosgyor, Gyor and Vasas in the next four games. I'll be in good shape if I get 10 points from the next 12, I think. YA RLY.

25 games gone and we're in 2nd place behind debrecen.
Debrecen 18-2-5 50/21 +29 56 Motim 16-3-6 54/25 +29 51 Vasas 14-7-4 33/15 +18 49
It's tight and the SFs of the cup will distract me. Ferencvaros beat me a few games ago in the league and they are mid table, so it's anyone's guess what is going to happen here.

I should add that Debrecen aren't a better team than us, so I'm annoyed that they're likely to get the title. Vasa, IMO are better than us, so I bet they're more annoyed than us.
We play Ferencvaros in the Cup SFs with probably Pecs in the final awaiting the winner. Pecs are currently 4th in the league on about 44 points and won't get near us. We're looking at a top three place this season which is very pleasing.
There were some changes over the course of the mid winter break, which I didn't mention, the most notable is Columbian right winger Plastic Fantastic going back home for €1.5M plus add-ons and Gelatine Hankie departing for €600k. We bought two left backs and a couple of attacking options and also a Bulgarian keeper to replace the outgoing Fortune Cookie as starting keeper.
What I need for next season is a centre half, as I think Monster Monster has reached his plateau and done well, without excelling at any time. The replacement will aso have to be an EU national, as my quota of forriners is higher than I want it to be.
I've just signed a three year extention to my contract with a demand of improvement of the training facilities which was accepted. Up until then, I had been promised €4M for the transfer kitty, but I fear that might drop to about €2M at the start of next season. That'll be fine, as I only really want one player. I'd also like some youth to come through, as my current crop is poor and i have no reservists to speak of.

Nice updates, Moo. Good to hear this is still going on. Must be frustrating, challenging so well for the league but not quite making it to top spot. Good luck in the cup, though, you've got a good chance of winning some silverware!
Champions League next year?

I'll have to check, but I think it's top to LAC and 2nd/3rd to Wafer.

Just had a quick flick through the early days in the thread - 3rd is your best finish in this division, so it looks like you've got a chance of beating that, at the very least.
How are your stadium, facilities and finances compared to the rest of the division? Are you now one of the big boys, or are you still punching above your weight?

Still punching, I'm afraid. I'll check that info tonight (if I remember), but our capacity hasn't chaged since Div II. It's under 7000, IIRC.
I also just checked the thread to see what places get into the euro competitions and it is as suggested above.

Nearly there Moo. All you need is that little more from somewhere. It seems a mite bit intangible. And I bet, a quarter part frustrating. Still, it is your best season to date. Good work there.

Very ver annoying. The season went to shit and we were murdered in the cup final against Pecs, but w had the chance to get 2nd in the last game and could only draw. Horrible.

Half past four, dude? Aye I guess so, and I do have a shedful of money to throw at some players, so I'll be right on that. I'll be looking at Debrecen and Vasas for DCs and maybe a keeper.

Aye, I seem to remember it taking me about five minutes to write that. I wanted to write more, but didn't have the stamina...
Left the pub at 4am. Could have carried on, but was a bit too battered.

Season 2012/13Players In: Sea Container (HUN, DRLC/DM, 30) - New starting right back (bought for 50k) as I think this is our weak spot in the team. Still not as good as I wanted, but will do until something else comes along. Do Not Mail (CZE, GK, 22) - A little short at 6', but a very good keeper now and hopefully he can improve. Fortune Cookie left and we needed a starter, bought from Ferncvaros for 70k. Boozy Hawk (ARG, AMC, 25) - Arrived on a free and is a rotation in the middle with stalwart French Guitarist. Excellent acquisition for the club. Salty Gas (SLK, SW/DC, 32) - I wanted some experience for the tough games and whilst he's a touch under 6', he has superb knowhow. 15 caps for Slovakia and a free transfer. Too Tall For You (CRO, AMR, 23) - Freebie from Gyor and is a squad player for the right wing. Capable but not a world beater. Lost In Paper (SLO, ST, 25) - Freebie again and a bit of a livewire and a gamble. Shouldn't be a starter, I don't think, but is more than enough of a player to be ready when needed. Pie Medical (RUS, SW/DC, 27) - Russian U21 back in the day and standing at 6'8", just about passes the height restriction. Really not sure why Ujpest let him go, but I did pay a decent whack for him at 160k. Ultimate Flour (HUN, MR, 18) - 11 U21 caps already and will be ahuge player in the future. Has the attributes required to be a starter already. Players Out: Fortune Cookie (GK) - went on a free to Lecce and nothing I could do about it. Never had my full confidence, IIRC. Man With Boobs (ST) - wasn't picked up for a couple of months, but now back in South America with Internacional of Brazil. Copied Graphics, You Do Too, Travel Agent Groupie, Irrelevant Question, Kidknapped Milkman and Fookin Shockin are all fringe players who left on frees. Most picked up in the 2nd division. Preseason went well, especially the 9-0 win over Dortmund and a 2-1 win over Benfica, both at home. We're looking to start off as brightly as last season, but hopefully not fall away at the end like last time.

This is the new GR trend. Threads with months-long holes in the middle of them. It's like Tony Adams' career before rehab.
