Baz - Bum beards
QB - Tom Brady (1/1)
WR - Roy Williams (3/1)
WR - Lee Evans (4/1)
WR - Braylon Edwards (5/1)
RB - Reggie Bush (Keeper)
RB - Willis McGahee (2/1)
TE - Vernon Davis (7/1)
KK - Robbie Gould (8/1)
DF - Miami (11/1)
ID - Brian Urlacher (12/1)
BN - Santana Moss (6/1)
BN - Ben Watson (9/1)
BN - De'Shaun Foster (10/1)
It's pretty tough to screw up too badly when you've got the first overall pick in a non-snake draft, but you have to hand it to Baz - he's given it his best shot. Credit where it's due, his receiver corps looks pretty good and he's managed to find two servicable halfbacks. But there's less depth here than in an earwig's foot-spa, and it's a pretty strong indication that you might have reached a bit for your first overall pick when another twenty selections go by before anyone else grabs a player from that position.
At least he's got that tricky back-up tight end spot nailed down.
KUTGW pick: Lee Evans (4th round. The only receiver in Buffalo.)
IGFLITO pick: Ben Watson (9th round. Who needs a backup quarterback anyway?)
Mystic Horn Predicts: Playoffs
Fuzzy - Fuzzy Fanny Fumblers
QB - Peyton Manning (Keeper)
WR - TJ Houshmanzadeh (3/2)
WR - Anquan Boldin (4/2)
WR - Darrrrrellllllll Jackson (5/2)
RB - Sean Alexander (1/2)
RB - Clinton Portis (2/2)
TE - Tony Gonzalez (6/2)
KK - Shayne Graham (11/2)
DF - New England (7/2)
ID - London Fletcher (12/2)
BN - Jamal Lewis (8/2)
BN - Kevin Curtis (9/2)
BN - Jake Delhomme (10/2)
Fuzzy's got the best quarterback in the draft, a pretty strong set of starting wideouts and three running-backs who might all be clinically dead by Week 6. Still, you can't go wrong with a third-string receiver who was playing safety eighteen months ago, can you?
KUTGW pick: Anquan Boldin (4th round. Great value that late.)
IGFLITO pick: Shaun Alexander (1st round. Maybe a rebound year, but the second overall pick?)
Mystic Horn Predicts: Champions
s1ut - Mr Bismarck's Eclectic Donkeys
QB - Philip Rivers (5/3)
WR - Larry Fitzgerald (Keeper)
WR - Torry Holt (2/3)
WR - Joey Galloway (6/3)
RB - Joseph Addai (1/3)
RB - Thomas Jones (4/3)
TE - Antonio Gates (3/3)
KK - Neil Rackers (11/3)
DF - San Diego (10/3)
ID - AJ Hawk (12/3)
BN - Jerious Norwood (7/3)
BN - Chris Henry (8/3)
BN - Alex Smith (9/3)
Quarterbacks? We don't need no steeking quarterbacks!
Always good when your second round pick is announcing a week before the season that he's not yet fully recovered from knee surgery, isn't it? At least s1ut's not relying on Torry Holt being backed up by a 35-year-old and a third-string receiver who's sitting out the first half of the season having been arrested four times in fourteen months.
Eh? You mean? Oh. Etc.
Plus, it's almost never a great idea to rely too heavily on a New York Jet. Trust me on this.
KUTGW pick: Jerious Norwood (7th round. Could have an enormous year if Warrick Dunn continues his decline.)
IGFLITO pick: Joey Galloway (6th round. Given his age and Tampa's uncertain offence, may well fall off a cliff this year.)
Mystic Horn Predicts: Mid-table
Elth - You Spanners
QB - Drew Brees (3/4)
WR - Marvin Harrison (2/4)
WR - Plaxico Burress (4/4)
WR - Calvin Johnson (7/4)
RB - Rudi Johnson (Keeper)
RB - Willie Parker (1/4)
TE - Bo Scaife (12/4)
KK - Adam Vinitieri (9/4)
DF - Chicago (5/4)
ID - Lance Briggs (11/4)
BN - Carnell Williams (6/4)
BN - Jon Kitna (8/4)
BN - Devery Henderson (10/4)
The wild card. Are New Orleans a one-season wonder? Can Detroit magically transform into the 1999 St. Louis Rams? Can Hyundai Williams bounce back from an awful 2006? Is Calvin Johnson as good as advertised? Will Eli Manning ever stop launching passes three feet over Plaxico Burress's head? Is there anyone on the planet who could pick Bo Scaife out of a police lineup? Even his parents?
If Elth gets the right answers to most of those questions, he'll contend. If he doesn't, there are precious few dependable performers in this lineup and he could sink without trace.
KUTGW pick: Devery Henderson (10th round. Terrific value that late, particularly of Colston's niggling injuries continue.)
IGFLITO pick: Skoda Williams (6th round. Did he lose it, never have it, or is he just playing behind an awful line?)
Mystic Horn Predicts: Mid-table
Nark - Moaning Inaction
QB - Vince Young (6/5)
WR - Terrell Owens (2/5)
WR - Marques Colston (3/5)
WR - Andre Johnson (4/5)
RB - Larry Johnson (Keeper)
RB - Brian Westbrook (1/5)
TE - Chris Cooley (7/5)
KK - Nate Kaeding (10/5)
DF - Seattle (11/5)
ID - Champ Bailey (12/5)
BN - Marshawn Lynch (5/5)
BN - Jericho Crotchery (8/5)
BN - Matt Leinart (9/5)
The anti-Elth. You know exactly what you're getting with pretty much everybody in this team, at least until Larry Johnson's legs fall off, T.O. punches Wade Phillips in the throat and Vince Young sprains his neck trying to spot an NFL-quality receiver in Tennessee.
Marques Colston's injury issues at the tail end of last year, and Brian Westbrook's injury problems all the time, ever might be enough of a concern to derail Nark's usual sunny disposition, mind.
KUTGW pick: Brian Westbrook (1st round. The centrepiece of Philly's offence.)
IGFLITO pick: Terrell Owens (2nd round. Too early, too old, too many drops.)
Mystic Horn Predicts: SuperDivotBowl finalists
Hornet - Your Face in the Fan
QB - Donovan McNabb (3/6)
WR - Reggie Wayne (2/6)
WR - Hines Ward (4/6)
WR - Deoin Branch (5/6)
RB - Frank Gore (Keeper)
RB - Lawrence Maroney (1/6)
TE - Jason Witten (10/6)
KK - Stephen Gostkowski (9/6)
DF - Pittsburgh (11/6)
ID - Cato June (12/6)
BN - Deuce McAllister (6/6)
BN - Donte Stallworth (7/6)
BN - Matt Hasselbeck (8/6)
Well, I like it, hilarious bye-week shennanigans aside.
KUTGW Pick: Donovan McNabb (3rd round. Will be huge, fitness permitting.)
IGFLITO Pick: Hines Ward (4th round. Already suffering niggling injuries.)
Mystic Horn Predicts: Playoffs
Coffers - Coffers Chokers
QB - Marc Bulger (3/7)
WR - Steve Smith (1/7)
WR - Reggie Brown (4/7)
WR - Santonio Holmes (7/7)
RB - Maurice Jones-Drew (Keeper)
RB - Marion Barber III (2/7)
TE - Jeremy Shockey (6/7)
KK - Jeff Wilkins (10/7)
DF - Baltimore (5/7)
ID - DeMeco Ryans (11/7)
BN - Tatum Bell (8/7)
BN - Muhsin Muhammad (9/7)
BN - Steve McNair (12/7)
Coffs flies in the face of the conventional wisdom that running-back committees are fatnasty poison. To his credit, he's largely gotten the better half of each partnership but how many backs can you name who've improved after they left Denver? His fondness for receivers who're suffering through the slings and arrows of poor quarterbacking is another potential problem.
If the powers that be in Dallas have a blinding flash of the obvious and realise that Marion Barber deserves the feature-back role over the very ordinary Julius Jones, Coffers could contend. As it stands, a fairly ordinary stable of backs and receivers plus two injury-prone quarterbacks probably spells "average". Or, actually, "afosobarptipq".
KUTGW pick: Marc Bulger (3rd round. Could put up elite numbers if he can stay fit.)
IGFLITO pick: Tatum Bell (8th round. A Denver cast-off running behind the worst offensive line in the NFL. What could possibly go wrong?)
Mystic Horn Predicts: Mid-table.
Sonic - So of the Nic
QB - Carson Palmer (2/8)
WR - Donald Driver (3/8)
WR - Bernard Berrian (4/8)
WR - Terry Glenn (5/8)
RB - LaDainian Tomlinson (Keeper)
RB - Ronnie Brown (1/8)
TE - Alge Crumpler (6/8)
KK - Jason Elam (12/8)
DF - Minnesota (10/8)
ID - Adrian Wilson (11/8)
BN - Ahman Green (7/8)
BN - Mark Clayton (8/8)
BN - Jay Cutler (9/8)
I can't believe I'm tipping a team with Carson Palmer AND Tomlinson in it to miss the playoffs, but there we have it.
Sonic's problem is that quite lidderally every single player he's got past the big two have significant question-marks. Driver and Glenn are too old, Brown's playing behind a terrible O-line, Green's playing behind a terrible O-line AND is too old, Berrian's the deep threat for a useless quarterback, Cutler's the quarterback for a run-first team, Clayton's the number two receiver for a run-first team, Alge Crumpler's the tight-end for a run-first team, has a useless quarterback and likely had his numbers inflated by the fact thatPaul Crewe Michael Vick could only see one receiver at a time...
Other than that, it's all good.
KUTGW pick: Donald Driver (3rd round. Not spectacular, just reliable.)
IGFLITO pick: Ahman Green (7th round. Is he still alive?)
Mystic Horn Predicts: Mid-table
Moo - Portland Dukes
QB - Tony Romo (6/9)
WR - Chad Johnson (1/9)
WR - Javon Walker (3/9)
WR - Chris Chambers (7/9)
RB - Travis Henry (Keeper)
RB - Edgerrin James (2/9)
TE - Todd Heap (5/9)
KK - Matt Stover (10/9)
DF - Philadelphia (11/9)
ID - Adalius Thomas (12/9)
BN - Cedric Benson (4/9)
BN - Ben Roethlisberger (8/9)
BN - Drew Bennett (9/9)
Ocho Cinqo is great. A new head coach and improved quarterback situation in Arizona could easily see Edge bounce back from the depths of suckitude he plumbed last year. Cedric Benson will likely see a lot of the ball in Chicago, if only because the other option is letting Rex Grossman give it to the opposition. Add to that the fact that anyone can run for 1200 yards in Denver, and you see that Moo's put together a squad that will definitely challenge for the title.
Nah, I'm only fooling. This team's horrible.
KUTGW pick: Javon Walker (3rd round. Second year back from an ACL injury and now unquestionably the Man in Denver.)
IGFLITO pick: Travis Henry (keeper. Mike Shanahan lives to fuck with fantasy football fans.)
Mystic Horn Predicts: Relegation fodder
DC - Dirty Cheats
QB - Eli Manning (6/10)
WR - Randy Moss (2/10)
WR - Lavvy Coles (3/10)
WR - Vincent Jackson (4/10)

DF - New Orleans (11/10)
ID -
BN - Adrian Peterson (7/10)
BN - Brett Favre (8/10)
BN - Ashlie Lelie (10/9)
TOP 5 THINGS TO LIKE ABOUT DC'S FANTASY TEAM:
1) Vince Jackson has a good chance to be a solid performer.
2) His keeper is likely to have a monster year.
3) Um...
4) Er...
5) That's it.
I don't like his running-back situation given the players left on the board when he took Brandon Jacobs and that Adrian Peterson is stuck in a committee with a pretty-good player. I don't like his quarterback situation - Favre has no receivers other than an ageing Donald Driver, and Eli Manning is an average player in a bad offence on a terribly-coached team. His receiving corps is probably his best unit, but even there he's got a malcontent, a crock, a player with 500 career receiving yards and the deep threat for a quarterback who can't throw more than fifteen yards downfield.
He'll probably win it all again now.
KUTGW pick: Kellen Winslow (5th round. Could be his breakout year.)
IGFLITO pick: Brandon Jacobs (1st round. Would have still been available at least two rounds later.)
