At least give it a go, Pops... Narkle, stop tempting him to the dark side.

Anyway, I think we have enough takers to make this thing happen, and it seems that FM 2006 is the favourite option. Keep shouting countries out, and I'm sure we'll come to some consensus. If not, then I'll pick one out of a hat.

It is, actually.
Mostly.
Maybe not every day.
Though air is free. And the Sloop John B is free.
Is it anything at all like FM2005 because that made me want to eat pooh.

Yes, but for how long for? I see no reason in pulling the wool over the old duffer's eyes.
Pops, as one might expect from the name FM06 is like FM05. Only with more stuff to snaffle around with.

Quite. s1ut- if you wouldn't not mind making it not so, that would be unlovely. I'll get right on it. Next week. What colour CD do you want? Things may be delayed a little as I opened my new season with 4-0, 5-2 and 6-2 defeats, then set fire to my own head.

Next time get it right and set fire to your players' heads, which I assume will be an option in this new all-singing game. Can't wait, sounds exciting. Blue, of course.

Burning is too good for them. I'd like to set fire to my defence, but the French guy would just moan about working conditions, while the Swede would just stand around waiting for his government to extinguish him and the Scot would go on and on about how BBC is only showing English people on fire.

Just had a look at FM006 options, Bulgaria might be interesting, instead of divisions or leagues it has "A Groups" & "B Groups".
Others that might interest South Africa (2 divisions), has anyone done that? Or maybe Romania.
I still have an interest in Uruguay & Chile, do they have silly promotion and Relegation criteria like other South American countries?

From looking at rsssf again, the A and B in Bulgaria are like A and B in Italy, they denote the top from second top divions. The Bulgarian B group has East and West though, top team from each get promoted, both 2nds play off for third prom place.
South Africa - I had a brief encounter with them a while ago, in CM0304, IIRC, but only lasted a season and a bit, if that. It was OK, not the most exciting though.

Owww, South-Africa. African sounds very much like Dutch. They have these great literal translations. And double negations, which seems to not be the trend over here!
Bloemfontein!
Bulgaria sounds great, too. There was one thing that kept me from playing there, if I remember correctly. Possibly the lack of a reserve team. That's always a bummer for my quantitive approach towards football. But not an obstacle, I think, because signing someone for Litex Raskolnikov will be diffcult enough.

OK, so far 15 countries have been mentioned:
Argentina Austria Bulgaria Chile China Denmark Greece Malaysia Norway Romania Serbia & Montenegro South Africa South Korea Switzerland Uruguay
Can we get some information on the number of leagues, how the lowest league works (number of teams, number of games, promotion, relegation, transfer rules, etc), and stuff, for each country? Who has a copy of the game on them, and has some time to waste?
Then we can evaluate and vote, or something. Alternatively, if anyone fancies another country, carry on shouting them out...

You don't ask for much do you, Boony? There might be some sort of file on t'Internet somewhere that has all that info available. If I can be arsed later, I'll have a look.

Checking all that in-game would probably take and age. I'm out of lunch at the mo and fully back into gzebo mode. Not sure if I'll get any time tonight, if I do, I'll report back on anything I find out.

Were I to participate, I have to say I would prefer to stay away from the Far East. Not being Eurocentric or nothing, but.... well, actually, yes, being totally Eurocentric I have never played CM outside European leagues, but would maybe be willing to go Latin America.

Serbia and Montenegro is my favourite out of all those listed. Especially as it's not a country anymore...
According to rsssf, you can win promotion from the fourth level straight to the second level, which sounds like fun. According to Frank, though, FM2006 only goes down as far as the second level, where there is a Serbian league and a Montenegran league...

Montengran League sounds so... Victorian. Like handlebar moustaches and dashing heroes with sabres.
Suits me, old fruit.

The Serbian league has 20 teams, where somehow they managed to play 37 games each last year. The Montenegran league has 10 teams, where they seem to play each other 4 times for a 36 game league. This is all based on www.rsssf.com, rather than anything on FM 2006, since I don't have my copy with me at work today. There's a great team name in there: OFK Grbalj Radanovici. They're Montenegran.

Plus it's in the vicinity of Croatia™.
I'm like Pops: never really ventured outside Europe, because of the lack of LAC. But I'm actually wanting to give the Far East a go, exploring new odd rules and team names. I'm an Antropologistic FM'er, me.
