I get the feeling your playing a bit bellow where you can. That's your second big score you've posted on here this season. You must really be enjoying it this season.

Aye, true. It's been the same for a couple of years, but I haven't been scoring this amount of runs. Since I've just moved to Abingdon, I decided to resurrect my league cricket career. I've started out in the third team as I'm new at the club, but I aim to work my way into the first team either this season or early next season... Then we'll see how good I really am.

That sounds similar to what I did with hockey. Except I won't be able to do the last bit. Plus we found out too late that my friends Dad actually could have gotten us into the better leagues teams. Though we had much fun in that time.

You can't bat worse than Colly at the moment.

You can't bat worse than Colly at the moment. This time it was a bad decision, but can't disagree otherwise.

Flintoff's back in the squad for the next test. It seems as though he'll either come in for Collingwood to form part of a five-man attack, or come in for Broad (who's struggled to take wickets) as part of a four-man attack. Both options are slightly risky, as I don't think Fred is either in good enough form to bat at six (although Colly hasn't exactly set the world on fire there recently) and his fitness is always a worry if he's just one of four bowlers. So the selectors have a tricky decision to make...

An, um, interesting choice by the England selectors this morning. Sidebottom's injured, and instead of bringing in Hoggard, Harmison, Tremlett, or Simon Jones, they've gone for a 29 year old Aussie called Darren Pattison, who's played 11 first class games in his career. Oh dear lord...
In other shocking news, Freddie is back to bat at 7, leaving Ambrose to get promoted to 6. I'm scared...

Is that just because he's near to the ground and not picked for the county today?

He was gonna take his kids to Alton Towers, apparently... We've lost the toss, are batting first, and haven't lost a wicket yet.

Go on then, why has he been drafted in? For my sins, I've looked at the text commentary so far on the BBC site and they said on there that he's cack with the bat and will be at #11. OK, fair enough, I know bowlers generally are "not as good" with the bat, but they could have got someone else in, Shirley? They knew about the injuries yesterday, didn't they, so they've had time to get someone else to drive up there I would have thought.

To be honest, I'm not quite sure. As mentioned above, we could have brought in Jones, Tremlett, Harmison or Hoggard. I believe Pattinson is a swing bowler, and he's replacing Sidebottom who's a swing bowler. The only other comparable guy in that list is Hoggard, who now must be feeling that his test career is over. It would have been easy enough to get any of these guys up to Yorkshire yesterday for the game, indeed Tremlett was already there as cover for Sidebottom, and Hoggard doesn't live too far away...
Pattinson's had a good season so far, despite it being his first in first class cricket. I guess the selectors have seen something in his makeup that they like. We bat quite low down, with Broad at 8 (despite Ambrose batting at 6), so his batting isn't a major issue for me. I just hope he takes some wickets!

I suspect very similar things were said when Sidebottom got his call up. He was an odd choice at the time and he turned out alright.
The ECB trying to catch lightning in a bottle twice. It'll blow up in their face of course.

Mmm. Sidebottom had played about 10 years in country cricket though. Pattinson's played just over 10 games... I'm not saying it's a wrong selection - only time will tell on that one. It's just surprising, especially given the talent that's been leapfrogged.
KP on the counter, hits a four, gets a lucky reprieve for an lbw shout, then hits a six!

Bah, KP gives it away and now we're in trouble. Time for Ambrose to prove he deserves his promotion. I don't have high hopes...

Well, we've well and truly fucked this test match up, haven't we? Time to bat for two days and salvage a draw - are we up to the task? Ha ha ha ha haaaaa haa ha ahaaa.
