So there I was awoken from a fitful sleep by a strange poity eared half dressed humanoid, I seemed to be in the dark hold of a ship, it was rocking gently. The humanoid called Juib asked me for my name, without question I answered "Greyson Badgerset" you don't shirk questions when you have spent years in an easterm prison and don't even know who your parents were.
I have little recollection of my early life and my upbringing seemd to revolve around a harsh prison life. I was rought up in harsh conditions and it seems the authorities now had a plan for me as I was moved westward to an unknown destination.
After answering him, the humanoid indicated that he was a slave called Juib and atthis point we would part company, a guard entered teh room and informed me it was time for me to disembark, I followed him quickly as he barked orders when I deviated from the chosen path.I soon arrived on deck and was told to head down the gangplank to be met by a guard who took down some more details, namely where I came from, I told him I was a Nord by birth and just nodded and guided me to the door of the Scyda Neen Census and Excise Office, it seemed he wanted me to enter, and wouldn't let me wander around until I did so.
Entering the building I was met by Socucius Ergalla who asked more questions to establish who I was and what my abilities were, I answered a lot of questions and he marked me down as a warrior, who was born under the Sign of The Ritual, which apparently meant I had Blessed Touch and Blessed Word spells that could turn undead I also had Mara's gift which meant I could restore 100 points of health to myself. They could be pretty useful in a bad situation.
With that Socucius Ergalla told me to take my release papers from the table and to go via the guard at the door and to take the papers to Sellus Gravius who would give me my orders. I picked up the papers and read them, indeed they were my release papers.
I took a lot more than the release papers though and despite the guards protestations they didn't arrest me, theough they said once I was outside such actions would result in a bounty on my head. Ha! Just stop me. I left teh room and headed for wherever Sellus Gravius was esconced, obviously pocketing anything that wasn't nailed down en-route, I wasn't officially released until I presented Sellus Gravius my papers. Do your worst. I stepped outside and found a barrel n one was watching so I rifled it and found a ring of healing. It was by a door which I then opened, I was still part of the Census and excise office so I guess I would find Sellus Gravius in there.
I was right I after giving him my release papers he opened up with aor einformation regarding where i was and who he was, he also charged me with a quest to deliver a package to Caius Cosades in the Town of Balmora, in that town I would recieve directions to my targets house at the South Wall Cornerclub. He also gave me 87 gold pieces towards my expenses. If I wnated more I'd have to find my own way of making money. His advice was to take the Silt Strider mode of transportation to Balmora, it was fast cheap and safe, but where's the fun in that, there was a whole new countryside to explore out there on my way to the chosen town, no thanks I might investigate it but there are more sights to see around this place and I'm sure there will be oportunities to loot make more cash.
With that I took my leave and headed out to explore Scyda Neen.

Exiting the Census building I came across two locked buildings, I had no key and very low lock picking skills so for teh time being left them be. There were some citizens wandering around and teh first I came across was Fargath who was moaning about a shake down by the guards and a ring they had stolen, admitting to finding a ring and giving it to him, he declared taht I was now his best friend and I should visit Arrille the trader who would look favourably on me.
I hope the loss of an enchanted ring would be worth it, but gaining a friend albiet a commoner might be a better bet at the moment. A long conversation with fargoth elicited a fair amout of information on tehhe area, namely the main buildings were the Tradehouse, The census and excise offices and a light house. So I bid him goodbye and went about my exploring.
I next bumped into Vodunius Nuccius who advised me the best way to move about the land was via the silt strider mentioning his name to the operator would help me get a better deal. He also let meinto a rumour that a tax collector had gone missing and that the authorities in those offeces wanted to know where he was. My next stop was Arrille's Tradehouse where I was warmly welcomed, Arrille himself told me that Hrisskar a lodger upstairs had financial troubles and was looking for help to solve them. Arrille himself traded in spells and other items, I decided to see what I could get from my pilfering so far, I needed a decent weapon other than the dagger I'd been given taken at the census house, plus I needed more cash.
So with a bit of bartering I sold some stuff and endded up with an Iron Shield, a pair of steel gauntlets and a broadsword, a long bladed weapon which is one of my better trained skills. That should see me through any early encounters. I proceeded upstairs and spole to Hrisskar, who asked me to help him get some money back that my new found friend fargoth owed him, All I had to do was spy on hum from the lighthouse to see where his hiding place was, raid it and return the 300 gold owed to Hrisskar, I accepted the task as he promised a small reward.
So off I went to teh lighthouse talking to the inhabitant and reading a book that she had, I walked upstairs and onto teh ramparts and stood watch over the village at 10pm I was someone sneaking into a swampy area, it looked like Fargoth, he moved into a pond like pach and started messing about around a tree stump, I think I had found teh hidey hole already so heading back into the light house i lifted a lamp and a cople of plates and headed back down to the swamp. A quick splodge in the pool and there was atree stump. Exploring it I found 300 gold pieces, the magic ring I'd given up earlier and a journeyman's lock pick. Bingo a nice little earner, heading back to the trade house I reported to Hrisskar who took 200 of teh 300 Gp I'd found and thanked me profoundly, he now seems to really like me. Another trade with Arrille and I'm one breastplate to teh good and a few GP lighter. Nobody seems to have a bed around here so I head back to explore the Silt Rider I was told about, the Caravaeer claims that Vodunius Nuccius is unhappy and wants to return to the mainland but can't afford it. I thank him for his advice and go in search of Vodunius Nuccius as possibly another quest is indicated. I was right Vodunius Nuccius asks me for 100gp for a special ring, I accept the offer and gain possessionof Naccius's Cursed ring, it can fortify my Athleticism by 5pts for a minute at a cost of 10pts health damage on myself and has 95 charges. It's valued at 100GP, so ok it's not a bad deal in certain situations.

The next few hours were spent wandering round unvisited shacks and other areas in the small town, collecting various bits of fungus and strange flowers that I came across, I also found two other tree stumps which remembering Fargoth's hiding place I figured may contain some hidden booty, I was right a small silver cup with gold was found in one and in the other I found a magical Two Handed Battl Axe which not only does normal damage on a hit but casts a Frost Damage Spell on a strike doing an extra 0-7 points damage, I'd need to drop teh shield to use it though. I don't think Nords would be averse to that.
Oh hum the immediate town seems all searched out apart from locked buildings that I cannot get into, so maybe it's time to move on or search for the rumoured missing Tax Inspector or Smugglers, I have vague directions to the Smugglers cave so could check that out but am I ready for a fight against opponents unknown? Maybe I'll rumage along the coast a little first see if I can find some lesser opponents to hone my skills against first.
That would be a mud crab then, my broadsword made short work of it and left me with a tasty morsel of crab meat.

Mud crabs are tasty and easy prey. Watch out though - I killed one yesterday that "Human Clavicle" in it.
I don't know how crap of an adventurer you need to be to be eaten by a mud crab, but it's a warning to us.

In my stumblings around the coastline smacking mud Crabs on the head for fun I came across a dead body, on examination of the body, that's a nice word for looting, I found out a tax document and indications that this was the missing tax inspector. Ower missus, I didn't want to be found standing over the body so quickly dumped it in the sea. The 200 gold pieces I found on him would pay for some nice spells and armour. I decided that the best way forward was to inform
the guy at the Excise house and headed back, He was hardly gushing but he did thank me for the report,He did ask about any money the man might be carrying, but I didn't let on he had anything on him, that seemed to be the end of the mans interest. However, when I questioned him again about the tax inspector he said yes he was a good man and his fate was inevitable, but it would be nice to find the killer, there would be a nice reward for such information. Ha a quest in disguise!
Villager question time arrived, though I didn't elicit any real progress until I wandered int a shack supposedly owned by some local commoner, who demanded to know what I wanted as he was busy. I asked him what he knew about the tax inspector and he replied that he had killed him because he thought he was corrupt and was raising taxes to collect extra gold for himself, at which point I told him that I would report this to the guards, he got agitated and attacked me before I could turn to the door. Which was a bit silly really as there I was an armed and armoured warrior stood against an almost naked peasant hopping around and jabbing away with his fists like a Marquess of Queensberry reject. Out came the old broadsword and a few cuts and slashes later there was a dead body at my feet, well it was until it was looted and disposed of. Some nice gold and a 200 GP precious gold ring with an inscription indicating that it belonged to the tax man. As the man was dead it would seem that I had a new home, it would become a place I can hide my loot if absolutely necessary. Villagers don't seem to get up to thievery in these parts so I should be able to leave stuff in the various sacks and trunks laying around, to collect when I need them.
With the body gone it was back to the excise office to report the death of the killer, I was received more warmly this time and left with a 300GP reward for my efforts and a parting shot of "I wish there were more public spirited people like you around here, it would make life so much more easier". If only he knew. Off I went to the trade house to cash in on some of the rubbish I'd found and collected and also to purchase magic scrolls for my next little foray and also training in sneaking around and Athleticism.
Next up let's at least try to find these smugglers, off to t he north east this time and not to far out of town I found a cave and entered with caution, there was an elf inside who immediately launched an attack on me, this time my opponent had a weapon, a dagger and the fight was a little more evenly matched, but the elf was quickly overcome and looted, though I took a few flesh wounds this time. There was a door ahead and I approached it and cautiously opened it, stepping through it was apparent there was someone ahead and he'd heard me as the cave lit up and I was hit by a bright read light, then again, my energy was draining fast and I couldn't get to my opponent fast enough so backwards I went and retreated behind the door I called on my special powers to heal myself and went back for more and got more of the same though this time I got a bit closer, I was still going to lose so I retreated again and resolved to come back another day. Retreating back along the path I had come from darkness had come down and I had trouble seeing where I was going. SO I decided to chance it and rest. As my health returned some sort of bandit chanced upon me and attacked, he nearly succeeded too but I just took him out before I expired. Sitting around outside in the dark is not safe it seems, so I called on my own healing powers again and slowly headed back to town to reflect on my damaged pride. After selling off my latest batch of loot I headed to my new home and slept for a while so that my magicka (known as Mana in other worlds) could be restored to full effect.

It was now time to move towns, so on tot he quest that was set by the excise man up to Balmora I trotted after resting enough to regain my health level, I took the slow route in the hope of getting a chance to kill more low level creatures. Not long after passing the point where I found the murdered tax collector I heard an long drawn out scream followed by a thud, swinging around and slowly scanning my surroundings for trouble I eventually saw just ahead of me a body of what locked like a mage. laying on the floor, he had a little gold on him, 3 scrolls and a diary, reading the diary it seemed he thought he'd found a spell to give him limitless flight ability, and the naming of those scrolls seemed as if that spell was contained in on the scrolls, Hmmmm if the spell was so perfect why had he hit the ground at such a lick as to kill himself? I think I might sell those scrolls as soon as I can get a good price for them. OK on-wards, I followed the road and chanced across a door in the hillside on entering I found it was a tomb a slow search the entry area netted some artifacts but the search was interrupted by an Ancestral Ghost, on which my weapons had no effect however my turn undead skill worked for a short time to allow a little more investigating, but I soon hightailed out of there as my health was falling on each return of the spirit and my magicka (Mana) was getting low, I needed to gain a higher level to take on this sort of creature, so the tomb is marked latter expeditions.. Turning off the road to the coastal path I came across the remains of a ship-wreak which gave up some useful booty when searched and and there was no one around to bother me either. I rested inside one intact if damp cabin to recover some health before setting out on the road to Balmora again. The rest of the journey was pretty uneventful and I reached the somewhat larger town of Balmora, and after a bit of judicious searching and asking in the right places I found my target Caius Cosades. For my troubles I was asked to join his spy network,, to which I said yes, he then said my level was too low to complete my next task and I should train and hone my skills and come back later when I was capable of doing the next task that Caius Cosades would set. He did give me a list of trainers to visit, 200GP and advised that I should go undercover and join one of the many guilds in town to throw any would be enemy agents off my track. I set about exploring the town and over the next few days joined every guild and House that I could. I'm now in the Fighters Guild, The Mage's Guild, the Thieves Guild, A member of The House Hlaalu, and I'm part of the Morag Tong an assassins guild to. I have enough Quests and tasks to keep me going an age. All of my Mage quests involved fetching and carrying stuff for my initial mentor, I have exhausted her duties and have now to find my next mentor in another town, but one of the duties did allow me to snaffle a fair few Soul Gems including a Grand Soul Gem with a soul in it, the gem is worth 60,000GP, but I can't find anyone with enough GP to buy it. I've completed one fighters quest, to remove a nest of Cave Rats from a local building and in the process found an empty place where I think I can stash some loot when I'm over encumbered. I've also completed one Thieves Guild Quest, stealing a diamond for my mentor, I actually stole 3 and got to keep the two others. Much of the next twenty days was spent to-ing and fro-ing between Balmora Caldera to the north and Scyda Neen. Buying and selling and looting bits and pieces, trying to gain levels in order to carry out my outstanding guild duties. I did mange to get to level 2 eventually and went back to the smugglers cave I had left early in the quest. This time I was ready for the Battle Mage I'd left behind. In I went spells at the ready and hit him with 2 fireballs before he got near me, two swift chops with my longsword later and he was done for. The remaining smuggler was no bother at all. That left me to search the cave in my own time. I looted what I could carry and left stuff behind for later when I needed more. The best loot was some contraband booze which had a value of 500GP per bottle and I knew someone who would buy it at full value by this point. Before leaving the cave and heading back north I released 3 slaves chained to a cell wall. They thanked me profusely. My last action was to complete a task set by the local Guard Captain, he wanted a bandit killing who was ambushing travelers near a small fishing village to the west. I made short shrift of that task though he fought hard. I spotted a smugglers cave and a ship being worked nearby during that quest, so it's another potential moneymaker for later, there were a few more bodies active around that area so I suspect it will be a harder than the last task. Oh I completed another fighters task, killing two local illegal egg poachers, who were stealing Kwark Eggs in the local kwark egg mines, I did accidentally kill a legitimate miner too, but no one was looking so I got away with that one. So it's now back on the hunt for random lower level targets to further hone my skills. I'm well equipped with spells, potions, magic scrolls, weapons and armour I just need the skill to use them. I can also intermittently repair my own equipment and can produce my own potions intermittently. So some progress has been made. A Screenshot will follow later. I'm about 27 game days into the scenario.

The next task set by the Imperial Guard Captain is to kill 5 bad guys who happen to be members of a Tong group who are corrupt and all frequent the same building (the local Council Offices), three of them are in the same room together and a a fair few levels above me. I'll leave that one to later I think.

Having decided to leave teh Tong's until later I embarked on the Disguise quest for Nileno of the House of Hlaalu. I basically involves heading up to Ald'ruhn and finding Neminda and posing as a dead Redoran to collect a package meant for another in teh House of Redoran clan. The disguise apperently consisted of wearing a Bonemold Helm given to me by Nileno for just that purpose. So off I set to Ald'ruhn from Balmora to Caldera where i had previously seen signs for Ald'ruhn. I could have taken the Silt Strider but running between towns not only builds my Athleticism but you get to meet interesting beasts and characters en-route. Between Balmora and Caldera you only seem to meet and get to kill the odd Rat, Alit or Kwama Forager, which are easy to dispatch. Taking my time to walk through Caldera, to give my fatigue time to build up again I fiound nothing of note. So onwards to the north west gate and out of Caldera. Following the path there was not a lot to take in until I came to the first crossroads, I saw a semi naked Nord hanging around. Approaching the singpost warily he sniffed as I went by, I established which was my route to take and then approached him to find out what he had to say for himself. He said his name was Hlormar Wine-Sot and he had been seduced and paralysed by a witch, who stole his clothes and prized battleaxe, Cloudcleaver, he said she headed to the North West, which just happened to be where I was going, so at his request for help to find her, I said yes, I'd help in his search. It didn't take long to spot a woman ahead on the road, so slowing down to restore my fatigue I approached the woman, it turned out she was the witch I was seeking, speaking to her, she told a different tale, she said Hlormar was paid to escort her but got way too friendly so she stole his goods to teach him a lesson and will give him them back at an in in Caldera in 3 days, once he has calmed down. I conveyed the message to Hlormar, but he got enraged and demanded that I choose sides, I chose the witch and Hlormar immediately insulted and attacked me with his bare hands. This would be easy I thought, an unarmed unarmoured fighter against me, my armour and magic sword. It wasn't, on his first punch I was on my back almost helpless. It went on like this for a little time, me struggling to get up and him punching me endlessly. Eventually I managed to get a hit in on him and that delayed the next pounch a little as he not only took damage form the sword but had a mini lightening strike to deal with. The punches slowed as I dealt swift cuts to his body, each stike singing his head a little more. Until finally he slumped backwards and shuffled off this mortal coil. The witch thanked me for my help and gave me 3 poitions: Exclusive Restore Health, Quality Restore Fatigue and Quality Fortify Health, she indicated that the axe would be given to a more fitting owner. If she's still around later then I may just decide that I would take the axe for myself, however I was pretty low on everything at this point and needed to move on. The odd rat that acosted me along the road got short shrift, as the light dimmed and the animal noises heightened I came across a man who was stood motionless staring at a rock, approaching with questions he told me that he was Hisin Deep-Raed a Nord, who had been escorting a witch and, in the process, got himself cursed, paralyzed, and stripped. Somehow I didn't think he was telling me the whole story but he was pretty mad I can tell you. I decided to help him and gave him a cure common disease poition, which worked instantly, for my generosity I recieved The Icecap a Nordic Fur helm that gave 30% Frost Resistance, not a lot of use to me as I already have 100% frost resistance as a Racial trait. Oh well I guess I can sell it on somewhere. Next up was a lone woman, standing in the road looking for an escort but she didn't like teh look of me and indicated I should move on and leave her be until she liked me better. Given what has gone before on teh road, I decided to give her a miss for now. There are too many paralysed Nords about to take chances. I arrived at Ald'rhun in the dead of night, it was a city by the standards of other towns I'd visited and it took a bit of searching to find the House of Redoran a huge round structure the like oif which I'd never seen before. Ensuring my helm was in place i entered and started searching the rooms in t his building and eventually found my target in the Redoran Council Hall. That was it I spoke the code words given by Nileno and I had teh package in my hand with instructions to take it to Maar Gan, she seems none the wiser as to who I am. I left the building and decided to check out the local bookseller whose building I saw opposite, that proved fruitful as browsing the books I felt energy coursing through me at least twice. Next a visit to the Mage's Guild as they had teh unique Guild Guide travle system that would help me get to Balmore instantly. Only taking time out to check on quest givers as I know my next mentor was in this town. I found her and received my quest to "Search for the rare Dwemer book Chronicles of Nchuleft". No clue as to where to find one, but she did give me 250GP towards expenses and cost of buying it. That then I suspect will involve searching booksellers premises everywhere. I spotted another book laying open on a lectern and on reading it again recieved a feeling of energy coursing through my body as my knwoledge increased. Taking the guild guide to Balmora I immediately returned teh package to Nileno and picked up my 500GP reward and the nest task was allocated, oh and I also got to keep the Helm he had given me. I now need to steal a formula from an alchemist who has been taking business from a loyal Hlaalu alchemist in Vivec. I returned to the Mages guild to take one of the spar bunks to rest and found I was barred from doing so for some reason, so my only option was to return to my shack in Seyda Neen, the Silt Strider got me there quicker than walking and I took time out to rest up for the night, leveling up to level 3 in the process. And there I sit contemplating which task of the many to undertake next. It is Day twenty of my travels onthis godforsaken island. I think a check of the Balmora Booksellers will be my next job, they had many books and I might hit paydirt quickly. I might also take some time to search for a suitable house to purloin whilst I'm there, to save on travel costs to Seyda Neen.

OK my next step after leveling up was to visit the girlfriend of the murdered tax inspector at the lighthouse opposite my shack. closing the door behind me as I entered she asked me what I wanted, You I replied as I laid into her with my longsword, 2 strikes and she was out. The building was mine to use for sleeping and loot stashing. A return to the customs house then to open an unguarded locked chest with my acquired lock picks netted me 36 GP, and then over to the locked warehouse opposite, I needed an open spell for that, A guard on the ground floor put paid to some looting, but I managed some alchemy ingredients whilst he wasn't looking. The occupant upstairs gave me training for a fee in various low level skills, this would be a place to visit over and over again I think. At this point I decided that returning to Caldera to eliminate the Travanni Agents in the Ebony mine might be worth a shot. I did it via Balmora where I purloined another house, this time murdering the local Pawnbroker, there was no bed there unfortunately so I can only use it as a safe-house for loot. To recoup some gold I took some books out of the pawnbrokers and sold them for a knockdown price to the local book seller, whilst there I remembered I had a quest to find a certain book for a Mage, and just by chance he had a copy, which I bought for 15 GP more than the Mage gave me to buy it. SO putting the Caldera Mine quest on hold I returned to the Ald'Ruhn Mages guild with the book, no extra reward, just another task from Edwina: To pick up a potion from from Skink-in-Tree's-Shade at the Sadrith Mora Guild hall, easy enough, I delayed my Mine quest once again, the new quest completed and I received an Exclusive Potion of Shadow which apparently gives me 20% Chameleon skills for 60 secs. I also got my next task too I was asked to steal 'borrow' a book from the Vivec Guild hall. That could wait, stealing sneakily is not really my forte. So it was time to head back to Caldera and undertake the quest I had decided was my next task, I took the instantaneous Guild Guide method of travel. Setting out of Caldera in full health I had one diversion from my objective planned, the witch with the Cloudcleaver battle Axe was just up a little side path from my destination. I would continue my murderous ways and claim the Axe for myself. So with my enchanted ring of fire at the ready I sneaked up the path and loosed off 4 or 5 fireballs at the witch before my the charges ran out she was still standing so out came my trusty shock enchanted longsword and a full on battle charge. The witch retaliated with a staff, it was enchanted as every time it struck me I was surrounded by a glow, though no harm seemed to come to me at the time. Continuing my attack it took longer than I thought as she kept healing herself, though eventually she succumbed to my frenzy. The body looted, I gained, gold a couple of potions, Cloudcleaver which turned out to be an enchanted Battle Axe which deals out frost damage on a strike, plus the withes staff, which I now find drains personality and luck attribute, sure enough on checking my stats I have no personality or luck whatsoever, so it looks like potions are needed. I had 2 low level restore personality potions in my pack so managed to get 20 points back on that attribute, but the rest and the luck attribute would have to wait. Back to the quest in hand, I headed back to the main road and soon came across another traveler called Pemenie, who asked me to escort her to Gnaar Mok in return for a pair of Boots of Blinding Speed. This sounded like another diversion but it seemed a good way to get some magic boots. So off we went continuing west as Gnaar Mok was just a little way along the path from where we were. Little being an underestimate. However apart from some attacks by rats and Alits plus one from a Cliff Racer it wasn't too bad. I did notice an ancestral tomb along the route for later investigation. Though I must have missed the turn off from the mines before I found this traveler as I didn't notice it along the route I took. We arrive on the outskirts of Gnaar Mok and in handing over the boots Pemenie told me the price of the escort was way too high but it's what she promised, so tough luck. I checked out the boots and whilst they could be very useful they come with one very big flaw. The boots give you 200 points of speed whilst worn, which is great except for the fact that they also blind you 100% whilst they are worn. So they won't be getting used for a long time yet. Heading back the way I came I detoured to kill a couple of breeding Netch's that I spotted nearby, giant floating tentacled beasts they were but didn't really pose me any threat. I was attacked by another cliff racer further down the path but the rest of the journey was uneventful. I nearly missed my turn off for the mine again and had to backtrack a little. That's the price of running everywhere I guess, you just sometimes miss the signs. As I approached the mine entrance, I slowed down, restored my health with potions and allowed my fatigue to recover. There was a lookout on the entrance, but he allowed me to approach and when I questioned him about Travanni Agents he backed off, pulled a bow and started shooting, My longsword at the ready I charged in, his bow was no match for the slashes he received from my sword and he was down in next to no time with no real damage done to myself. I had to leave a lot of his loot on the floor as by this point I was pretty much at my carrying limit. But I did take potions and gold. I entered the mine with trepidation, there were 3 others still to deal with, Sneaking along the lit tunnel I could hear voices ahead, peeping around a bend I could see 3 elves chatting a little way further down. I presumed these were the agents. SO backing up a little I invoked my innate power of Woad (providing me with (60 points of extra protection for 60 seconds) and readied my fireball ring. I moved into position and as soon as they saw me, there was a shout of 'You will die intruder' or something to that effect. I needed no prompting and off went the fireballs again it wasn't enough, two reached and the third stayed where she was, I could see magic afoot on the 3rd agent. A frenzied battle then ensued, as I lashed to and for with my magic longsword, and they tried to get a position where two could attack me at once. I was getting a little low on health and managed to swallow two potions of restore health to give me some more breathing space, finally the bigger character of the two fell, at that point the third agent joined the fight, but I was getting more blocks in now and sustaining less damage. Though my attacks seemed muted I was doing damage. the second assailant fell and the third wasn't far behind. I looted the smaller items and gathered the other items into piles for a time I could return later to collect and further explored the short mine. There were crates and barrels with items for later use, plus a submerged tunnel ahead, but I didn't get too far exploring that as I ran out of air quickly. I did manage to kill 2 slaughter fish in the tunnel though. Returning to the mine I spotted a hammock and decided that as the occupants were dead nobody would mind me having a kip to restore my health. I bedded down but was awoken 4 hours later by a rather stupid assassin, who announced his presence by shouting that I was about to die, idiot, I immediately rose and again another long drawn out fight broke out, he was poorly armed only having a dagger so didn't do me too much damage, but the bugger was fast and took a long time to die. Apart from the dagger he had nothing worthwhile on him. I disposed of all the bodies and headed back to the Balmora fighters guild to claim my prize of 500GP and my next task, to steal a book from a thief in the local Thieves guild. Oh Boy. A visit to the local Alchemist netted me some restore Luck and Personality potions so by the next post I hope to have all my attributes back to normal. Unfortunately those potions didn't come cheap and I need to find some money making activities again.

So it's safe to say the sea-sickness you were suffering when running about has gone?
Sleeping in someone else's bed in Bethesda games is always a bit tricky. Fortunately by the time you get to Fallout you can liberally deploy landmines around the area before going for a nap, provided your heart can take being woken up by loud explosions.
The graphics don't look too shabby here considering the rig you're playing on, Mr C.

Yes the sea-sickness has gone and I'm impressed with the graphics, I expected a lot worse.
It has to be said thought that the screenshots above were not mine. See what I see below.

Regarding the Assassin, I think the Camonna Tong have a writ on my head, for some reason, the Captain of the Imperial Guard near balmora suggested as much when I last spoke to him. He said there had been unsuccessful attempts on my life and I should watch out for myself.

Luck and skill restored it was time to move onto something else, I sold some stuff from the pawnbrokers to beef up my GP a bit and got a little more training in Security, Sneak and enchantments skills then went back to my spy-master Caius Cosades to see if he would accept me for my next task, he did; He told me to talk with Hasphat Antabolis at the Balmora Fighters Guild and ask him about the Nerevarine and Sixth House secret cults and like as not I'd be asked to do a favour first.
Yes I was asked a favour that was to retrieve a Dwemer puzzle box from a local ruin, Arkngthand, at least the guy gave me detailed directions to the ruin and it wasn't too far away, just a but north of the Guard house to the east of town.
What he didn't tell me was there was a bandit blocking the bridge to the ruin called Snowy Granius. Said bandit immediately set about me, well he set his summoned skeleton minion about me whilst he seemed to cast other spells about himself. I rushed past the skeleton and laid into Snowy with my trusty silver longsword he didn't take long to dispatch, I loaded his belongings into some nearby barrels before tossing the body off the bridge, this attracted the attentions of a cliff racer, which soon plummeted to join Snowy at the bottom of the ravine, the skeleton had disappeared on the death of the bandit so there were no worries there.
just a short distance ahead was a door which seemed to be operated by a crank handle nearby, turning the crack the door opened, but before I could cover the distance between the two the door closed again. On the second attempt I ran at the door and just made it in time before it closed on me, I was inside another cavern rather than a ruin, though some of effort had been made to cut the stone into the form of proper rooms. Heading down the narrow ledge down to the cavern floor I was attacked by two bandit one after the other but they were easy meat. I was in a half built room where I could see a second level but no way up, so I headed along another tunnel that led into a complex of other rooms and tunnels, killing more low level bandits along the way, but there was no sign of a path to the second level I'd seen. There seemed to be no way onward in this complex when I hit on a locked room, well beyond my potential to open, even with spells at my disposal. So it was back up to the incomplete room for more searching.
It was at this point I spotted a way to the second level, a cluster of boulders offered a path up, Jumping onto the first boulder resulted in an easy walk to the floor I could see, with a final jump I was up there. and found a door to a room called The Cell of Hollow Hand. Entering the room I was met by another bandit who once again I made short work of and there on a shelf was the puzzle box I needed. A quick scout of the room to retrieve what I could carry and I was on my way back to Balmora with the prize in hand.
I returned the box to Hasphat and got the information I needed and quickly delivered it to Caius Cosades for no reward whatsoever apart from the treasure trove I'd collected. However Caius said that Hasphat's notes have covered the Sixth House, but there wasn't anything about the Nerevarine Cult and he therefore had another task for me; I must go and see Sharn gra-Muzgob and run an errand so she can tell us more about the Nerevarine Cult. I'm just a glorified delivery boy.
Whatever, I'd need to sleep on it so I went down to the fighters guild bunks and had a fitful sleep, when I awoke I found gained another level: 4. I also found I had a 40GP bounty on my head, I have no idea how I got that, so my next step will be to remove all my stolen items from myself and go and find a guard to pay off my impending fine. Then I will do some runs to gather loot that I'd left in other locations to sell to the local traders.
But that is for another day.

Morrowind's early Arena quests are notoriously FedEx-y.
Actually most of Morrowind's quests are pretty FedEx-y. The fun is in the world and the character, not the quests, unfortunately.

I have to admit that the bit's in between the fed-ex agent work is the fun bit, still you do get to kill a few things in the odd quest here and there, it just tends not to be part of teh main quest. Anyhow, now that I have a silver sword and a the odd magical one, I'll be heading off back to one of the tombs that I've come across in my travels. It's about time I tried my hand at capturing some undead souls.

If you like the combat, and like capturing souls, the second half of the main quest is going to have you drooling.

Most of last night was spent ferrying dumped loot to various sellers and making a bit of money, not a lot but enough to get some more training here and there. I also took some time to manage my inventory to lighten my load, which should enable me to carry more loot back from my next quest or killing spree. The quest being to trave to a tomb and retrieve a skull, returning it to Sharn gra-Muzgob would result in her giving me teh information I wanted.
Then I headed out towards the tomb that was mentioned above, picking up a mini quest on the way, froma lone female traveller who had a jewel stolen by a bandit, she just wanted me to give him a glove as she had fallen in love with him. I found the bandit i na tavern in the next town, in return for the glove he gave me a note to take back to the girl well taht could wait as I have undead to kill, by the time I found the tomb it was time to pack up for the night so I'm hanging around outside at the moment waiting to pounce. I did spend a little time summoning some zombie minions the casting a soul trap on them prior to killing them off, to load up some empty Soul Gems I had in my possession. I'll probably sell them on rather than recharge my magic weapons at this satge as the killing i@m involved in doesn't particulary require the weapons to be charged to any extent, they recharge fast enough between jobs.

If you start getting items too valuable for regular merchants to buy, try Creeper in the inn in Caldera - he's got 5000 gold and it recharges daily. Worth the trip.
