BMW and Williams are now both under unvestigation for possible use of illegal fuel during the race. If their drivers were disqualified, Hamilton would be promoted to fourth and win the world championship.

And now they've been cleared, so the title is back to Kimi again.

Because he correctly disallowed an English try? Harsh.

Huzzah! It's the English way, lose but have a referee you can blame for it. Everyone's happy really. The rest of the world don't have to put up with English arrogance (Having to put up with seef efrican or, um, Finnish arrogance instead) and the English get to "know" that they're the best "really". It's a winner.

Moral victory FTW!
I couldn't work out what the try was being disallowed for at the time. Since then, I've seen a slow-mo replay that plainly shows Cueto's left foot on the touchline before the ball was touched down. So it goes.
As Coffs correctly said, it almost certainly wouldn't have made a difference anyway. And as he even more correctly said, England really should have been out three weeks ago, so even getting to the final was a minor triumph.
When abject humiliation looked like the only option, it's hard to get that upset about hard-fought defeat.
Formula One isn't a sport, it's a Monday morning commute at 150mph, so who gives a fuck about it one way or the other? And I've been resigned to the England football team dying on its arse ever since McLaren was named manager, so the fact that we've managed it in the qualifying campaign rather than limping through a weak group to get buttfucked in the final is actually a bit of a relief.
Plus it's raised the massively entertaining possibility of Jose vs. The British Press II - This Time It's Personal. Come ON!

If Horn has spent hours on end checking the slo-mo and accepts the ref was right fair enough, I'll accept it as so.
But he's just spoiled the fun of endless discussions over did it, was it and took away my right to calll the tart a canute.
It's nothing personal Elth, it's just something I have called all ref's from an ealy age, usually even before they got onto the pitch.

I don't get it, coffs. The man made a correct call, but because it was against England he's a biased cunt? What nationality would he had have to have been to make the decision and not be a cunt? I rest my case. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

You see, that's why I'm glad I spoke English from birth and not had to learn it- "he had have to have been"? FFS!

See the last line of my last post Pops. Sorry about that, coffs- I pulled a nark. Still interested though in the question as a discussion point generally- contentious decision (in English eyes, say) - what nationality would the ref have to be to not produce a reaction? I reckon maybe Welsh would have got away with it. Italian, maybe?

It was so close I think the reaction would have been against any ref of any nationality. If he'd been English he would have been accused of over-compensating or something.

One solution - kill all refs and linesmen.
Oh and strippers at half time can't hurt.

I'm in full agreement with Moo. We didn't need refs for the park games as kids.

Do you have pictures with those park games with strippers at half time?

I can imagine Steven Gerrard taking his ball home when Edwin van der Sar shouts:
"The ball went over Rio's jumper! It doesn't count!"

Where did the jumpers for the goal posts come off, then?

Post by coffers on Oct 22, 2007 12:42:59 GMT
Well jumpers were one thing, but I don't remember anyone taking their shirts, trousers and Blunderpants off and using those as goal-posts.

I guess it depends on what stereo type you want to use about which area you are in at the time Meej. Though I have to say, I prefer your option than mine ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)
