The first games of the unofficial Divots Hattrick Flowerpot were played last night, as the four hoary old CotDĀ¹ veterans clashed in couplings the likes of which the home counties hasn't seen since Cliff Richard was fiddling with Sue Barker.
The scores on the doors were as follows :
Boony's Urban Gorillas 1-3 Sink the Bismarck
Garston Unathletic 2-1 Milburn FC
The games were proof positive that Horn has some effect ont he weather, as it was lashing down in Oxfordshire, home of the Gorillas, while next door, in Hertfordshire, there was something of a heatwave.
In the first game, Bismarck took first blood, as Catpain Paul Baker capitalised on a mistake to score. One of my five Crouch-alikes then soared like a kipper to reach a corner and headed home for 2-0.
800 closed the gap before halftime with a penalty that the game described as dubious, because 800 is a cheaty oik, obviously
Right after halftime Catpain Baker again took advantage of 800's ADHD defenders and made the score 3-1. I then went all defensive, because I'm a borong canute. There was more fun to come though, as I hacked down one of 800s players, forcing him off with injury, but he was then replaced by someone about eight times better.![](http://www.geocities.com/jacquesdebohun/smilies/moop.gif)
Toward the end of the game the Spider Monkey was saved further embarrassment first by his keeper and then by his crossbar.
Over in Garston, the teams were basking in the rare appearance of a giant orange UFO in the sky. Pretty soon though both teams were shaking their fists at it, as they were getting knackered out, running around in a heatwave.
Gartson took advantage of the power of the sun to pounce on a mistake and score an early goal and then after that both teams seemed to resolve to just kick each other and both sides earned yellow cards.
More kicking and yellows followed in the second half for Horn and he could have take a comfortable lead, if not for the heroics of Moo's keeper.
Those heroics turned into something tangible when Moo snagged back a late equaliser, but his players retreated to the nearby pub to celebrate and while they were off, Horn scored the winner in the 85th minute.
I'm away training with work now, which means I have access to a pc only during the day and can't get on Hattrick, so the next games with have to be the week after next, unless 800 wants to play Horn/Moo next week and I will catch up later on?
