Arsed, yeah, that's the ticket. To be brutal, the fact it runs quick means I can grab half an hour here and there between other things. That's fine, but precludes any actual writing down of details... so it's scantiness all the way. Last night's 25 min grab: H v Swit: 0-0. 16 shots to their 6 and 5 peno claims waved away- I remember this now. Groclin come in again with a 660k deal for Less than a Calorie which I accept again. He turns them down again. A v Odra (in 2nd place): 0-0. H v Kietrz: 1-0. Ringo Stab - he is deputising for the injured Crunchy Frog in the Hole and does not bad for a 19 yo. A v Tloki: 1-0. It's not pretty viewing, but still points on the board. Ladies' Glove Handler comes on as a sub for a woeful Ringo Stab and nets a late winner. H v Zaglebie S: 4-2 Both The Daddy and Wellocks get their first goals of the season to add to Less than a Calorie and Ladies' Glove Handler. At last the goals are back. So after 15 we sit top, W12, D3, L0, F33, A9, Pts39. Polar in second have 30, 3rd and 4th (playoff spots) have 28. Still can't find any staff for love nor money. I should say that my nicknames are generated by the real names of the players prompting some inner train of thought. For example, for you older viewers, Less than a Calorie could be named something like Toppus Deckinski... Etthetera, Etthertera, Etthetera...

Ringo Stab in the hole replaced by a Ladies Glove Handler.
I'm sensing a hidden message here.

Oh, it's all coming back to me now... A v Myszkow (not named after Nina, I hope) 3-0: Nuns Are Smart, Phillips and Caroff Ya Scally with the goals. The match reports are starting to mention our unbeaten run, which to me suggests it's about to end. Harrumph. In the wake of this game, Myszkow's manager was sacked. 1st leg of Cup, home to League 1 leaders, Legia. H v Legia: 1-4: Trip on a BoatA real humping. I'm averaging one 2 week injury per game at the moment and in this game, I had three, leaving me to play 25 mins with 10 men, which doesn't help. H v Belchatow: 3-0: Crunchy Frog returns from injury with 2 goals and Shi-ite Muslin adds a third. Bids are creeping in for my players now- mainly the keeper Ready for a Rumble. H v Hutnik: 2-3: Crunchy Frog and Shi-ite Muslin (p). And there we have it- our unbeaten 17 game run was mentioned FOUR times in this game, which guaranteed it would be stuffed up our bottom, goatse style. Again, injuries left us with 10 men from the 62nd minute. I cautiously bring in another loanee- Love Mounds, a striker from Myszkow. I am unwilling to sign up shady Polish freebies and I have -120k or so, because of my refusal to sell any performers. Still, the board are happy for the moment. 2nd Leg Cup A v Legia: 1-1: The Daddy. Lose 2-5 on agg H v Lech: 4-1: Henchman Who Will Die 2, Crunchy Frog Shi-ite MuslinBouncing back in style. Reject more L1 bids for Ready for a Rumble and offer him a new contract. Also offer new contracts to Ladies Glove Handler and Trip on a Boa. Trip is offered contracts from elsewhere too. Happily they all sign with me except the Glove Handler, who wants more than I can afford. Chutes Too's move to the Ukrainian side collapses due to lack of cash. Happily another UKR side offer 3K and he's outta there. I sign Less Than Mauve on a Bozzer for June. A young SW/D RLC from a rival club. I organise a friendly for the winter break and run out a second string on a 2-2 draw with Baltyk. Well-Appointed Townhouse gets his first game of the season and scores both. BAck to the league and another loss. 0-1 to second-placed Polar. I remember the "pause" in January that CM does, when it decided who's going to win everything. So I leave it 10 pts clear of second spot, 12 clear of both playoff spots. Tailspins™ notwithstanding, I might make it.

So are you enjoying your CM re-birthing, Pops? Or is it all a little bit retro for you?

I am enjoying it, but not enjoying some of the remembering of the little foibles. I mean, I know for a fact, that post January "think", my three DC formation will now be, as we used to say, "cracked", and the chances of me stringing a few wins together now will be minimal. That's a bit annoying. Unless I'm proved wrong, of course.
It's a modicum of addiction, no doubt about that. Annoying that I am only allowed one furriner, but hey ho.
If I could get some kind of written guarantee that I could switch off a lot of the micro-management and that the game would zip along something close to the speed that this one is (it's dreamy), then I would have a stab at the last FM I've got. Which is FM5, I think. Is it worth it? Or should I go with dot$ first, which I have.
In fact I have a few and to be honest, I've lost track a bit.
Could someone enlighten me as to the evolution since 01/02?

If you mean 03/04 then that's a doddle, but sorting the training put on that one is the worst in the series. Absolute over the top micro-management.
Pops the nice things about the newer versions is the new leagues that you can play in. whoke new worlds of mentalist promotion and relegation rules/play-offs in Mexico and Columbia etc. etc.
Once you get the initial micro management sorted on FM2006 it's not that hard to play really. Can't comment on 2007, but it sounds harder to play than 2006. I really like 2006 to be honest, but I'd like to have the scouting features of 2007 in this version, they sound really useful.

The thing that is screwing me in the 2007 version is that I picked myself as "Sunday League player" for the Experience option. Nobody wants to play for me, surprisingly and as I'm only regional rep, I can't go anywhere else but sideways, if I'm lucky.
The scouting is very much improved on 07 to be fair.
0304 was relatively straight forward, if memory serves and FM05 was a big change but has gradually got better to the 07 version. If you're keen to go FM, 05 is not the best one to judge it on.

I'm local and, so far, I've managed to extend a loan that was already in place when I joined. Of course 3 of the other loanees refused to an extension so that's not that much to brag about.
