The board said no to expanding the training facilities. I'm very fooked.

It's a semantics thing; you can't expand something that doesn't exist. Like say, Jade Goody's humility.

I take it Edwin is going to be one of those things.
This FM07 or 08, Moo? If 07 I expect the CL in 5 seasons, as I've been told by numerous sources that it's really quite easy with very little time spent on tactics :thumb:

One of which things? Is it a good thing or a bad thing? Pray tell!

It's '08, Elth.
Friendlies largely disappointing, four defeats, two draws. Serie C Cup is upon us, a battling 1-2 at home to Ancona and a 1-1 draw against someone else. Just been beten 0-1 away in the league. Performances not bad considering the quality I (don't) have, but I might be struggling a little this season.

...I've been told by numerous sources that it's really quite easy with very little time spent on tactics I must be worse than I thought at it... I won the square-root of fuck all in FM07...

FM07 is reasonably easy, if you want to mess around a bit. Once you get to certain level, then you just have to make sure nothing goes off the rails. Oh, and I've won the African Cup of Nations without a GK. At one stage, I was playing with 7 at the back, 2 of them sweepers. I've got FM08 but I'm still hooked on my 07 save.

You'll love the table I'll post after ten games.

Despite the table, we haven't really been too bad. It's obvious where are defeiciencies are, but when your "best" striker is a 39yo, you have to think you need help there. However, the help might arrive too late. I couldn't get anyone to sign until after the deadline, so the two strikers I need aren't coming until January.

You don't have to take my advice, but you might not want to aim for 15th this season.

After that table, there were two other non-wins in that session.
I played three games last night, the first a 3-2 win, the second a 4-3 away defeat against the top side, the third a 3-0 home win against a mid table side. Yes, I was surprised too. The 4-3 was a great game, 3-0 down at one point, I switched back to a 4-4-2 (the stifling technique of the 4-1-3-2 obv didn't work) and we got back to 3-3 with eight mins on the clock. Cue their winner with two or three left and I was gutted. The 3-0 afterwards made up for it though as we were very good in that game.
So IIRC, we're still in the relegation playout (!) places but in decent form to scramble out of there.

That looks as if there were some nice and nifty changes/work going on there. Nice one.

Not really, in all honesty, the tactics I have put on the team have been what we have used throughout. As I said in an earlier update (before the table) we haven't been as bad as the table shows. All the defeats were (and hae been) by the odd goal, so it's not like we're ever out of the game. I guess the 4-3 would be the exception to that, but we were against the team flying away with it so far, Portosummaga. In hindsight, i should have stuck with the 4-4-2 from the start, not because it got us back in the game, but because the players were probably used to that, or getting more comfortable with it, perhaps. I'm probably tweaking a little more in game than I used to, mainly because the engine allows you to do so without stopping the game, it's a really nice touch and something that should have been there from the start. None of this "quick tactics" shite. The changes should be happening whilst the game is progressing, it happens IRL, I'm told.
The striker that scored all three in that 4-3 has played decently well too, now up to 5 in 6 games and is a good freebie to get. I still have a couple of strikers coming in during the window and as I highlighted a while back, it seemed to be the finishing aspect of the team that was lacking. I could probably still do with Rino Gattuso's little brother in the middle though, the lads I have for the MC position are a little light in the tackle and work rate areas.

A better update. We're actually playing decently well. We're more than holding our own and have only bean beaten by more than one goal on one occasion. We've just beaten Spal 3-1 at their place to leave us thusly in the table:

I hope we get a little higher than that and I think that with the signings I've made in the transfer window we have enough to stay up. I'll do a rundown tonight, if I remember.

Well I played up until 31 games last night and we're right in the thick of it. We're 15th (!) in the league and three points from safety. However, we're also three points from the auto relegation place. Since the last table, we've continued our inconsistent streak which has been better results against better teams and being beaten by the stugglers. At one point, we were one point from four games at home and ten from four away, which is infuriating to say the least. Our last game of the session last night was a comprehensive 2-0 win at 3rd placed Spal where we were in no trouble at all.
Still, it looks like I have the "playouts" to contend with. From what I understand, 18th place drops out immediately and 14th-17th have a two-legged tie to decide which two other teams go to Dropsville too. As long as I don't draw San "Wigan" Marino, I'll be happy. Ish.

It seems your tactics may be suited to away games, perhaps they need tweaking for the home games. As for struggling against poor sides, I think that's standard. They probably play a hard to break down sort of game, so you need something special to overcome them.
