So the Steelers won, 21-10. And I'm knackered this morning. Seahawks penalties on key plays gifted the game away, it seemed.

I was going to watch the start of the game but fell asleep in the middle of watching an utterly borong Gangs Of New York.
I guess the lack of activity on here so far today can explained by you lot staying up to watch the game until God knows when in the morning.

I spent all of eight seconds coming up with the prediction of the Steelers by 10, so I'm a happy bunny this morning, especially as we¹ beat the taffs at egg chasing on Saturday and then we² beat the ugly budgies. At their place. With a late goal that was probably punched into the net.
Best win since Jeremy Bowen or whichever ugly pantfish it was rolled the ball back to Bryan Gunn only to see it hop over Gunn's foot and roll into the back of the net on 90 minutes for another 2-1 to us³.
The Superbowl was one where you had to find interest where you could. When the commentators point out that Roethlisberger has the longest name of any superbowl-starting Quarterback and Hasselbeck has the second-longest you know there's not too much on the field.
Big Ben looked nervous, apart from when the pass rush pressured him and he had to play off-the-cuff and his good instincts took over - see the crazy 30+ yard pass to Hines Ward at the Seattle goal line.
Hasselbeck looked decent, but all of his receivers took the night off, apart from Jackson, who only took three quarters off. Oh, alright, and Jurevicious who continues to be solidly useful and may end up at the Pats next year.
Best moment for me was at the end of the first half when Hasselbeck formed a Peyton Manning tribute band and burned 15 precious seconds pointing and shouting, only for the Steelers to call timeout just as he was finally ready and then lay on the floor giggling.
Behind that came the end of the second half, when the Steelers called a designed QB keeper, a three receiver screen and an inside receiver screen to keep the ball moving and the clock ticking.
Then Cowher came || this close to crying at the end of the game, which would have made my century.
For the second superbowl running the NFC showed absolutely terrible clock management. I don't pay much attention to the Numpty Conference, but I can only presume they now play with sundials over there?
¹ - England ² - Ipswich ³ - Ipswich again

Hasselback, 15 yard penalty, low block.
How. What. Where.
Turning point of the game for me was the 'holding' immediately before forcing the long 3rd down attempt. Until then I still thought the Seahawks were in with a good shout given how below average the Steelers were really playing. Thought it amusing to see how much the Steelers O-Line was credited, despite being more cheaty, holdy and fouling (and Steelers D-Line was just as bad). For instance on the rushing TD for Parker, the centre and RG completely take two guys out, one by holding the collar of a covering Linebacker stopping him from turning to grab, the other by pushing one over then sitting on him. Quite often it seemed to me the Seahawks players were being held and spun around by the physically stronger but slower Steelers.
Then there was the Horsecollar tackle on Alexander. Immediately after which the commentators commentate that he could have had one of those high ankle sprains....yet fails to mention that the fact it was an illegal tackle was the reason for that possible injury.
It's as bad a lariat block.

The "horsecollar" was the focus of officiating this year too - but as with any new focus, it lasted about three weeks and then the officials went back to ignoring it.
As for the holding, to quote John Madden "Get me a sammich Al, my gut thinks I'm dead!" No, wait... "Holding happens on every play, it's just a matter of whether you get caught or not."
I'm still baffled by the Hasselbeck chop block though.

I'm still baffled by the Seahawks ordering their half time pizzas while the clock was still running.

If you look carefully you can clearly see Matt Hasselbeck shouting "£37! 37 fooking pounds!?" as Holmgren passes him the news. Mike Holmgren, yesterday, ordering from the Indian instead
