Tweaking is good, I always tweak when the opposition seem to be getting the upper hand, it tends to throw them a bit and they have to start working out our tactics again.

I'm of the school of thought where if I don't know what we're doing, how can they? But in all seriousness, they were one of the higher placed relegated sides, so I just put it down to that.

A very poor set of results, including a cup exit to the Cuckoo boys (and a league defeat too) means we're off the pace. Mind you, there's not that much of a gap between 2ns and 11th if you look at it...

SOme new faces needed during the break I think, could be enough to give you a tilt at promtion. It looks as if you should be safe from the R word.

That last game annoyed me immensely as we were the better side. Pretty much four defensive mistakes (one mishit clearance, a couple of missed tackles and a silly free kick on the edge of the box) gave them their four goals. Worryingly, our two goals came after some tweaking. It's worrying because it may mean I'm starting to understand how things work a bit more. And we can't have that, can we? No, no we can't :cab: I think it's more worrying that I saw mishit as miss-shit. I think I need to lye down.

I wouldn't do that Sonic it might cause you even bigger problems: Lye - a caustic solution used for glass and soap making. It may be: sodium hydroxide (soda lye) or less commonly, potassium hydroxide (potash lye).

The problem I have is that my three new scouts which are miles better than the nincompoops who had the jobs at the start haven't really found me much to buy. Don't get me wrong, the lists they have given me, minimal as they are, are better players than the "you have boots" crew the other lot gave me, but these ones are just not wanting to sign for me. It's a problem I had in Hungary. I had to wait until my third season before anything decent would consider a contract, I guess because my reputation and that of my club increased a little.
As you can see, I'm at my half way break now. So I'll do a brief rundown of the team (if I remember to) and then it'll make things clear in my head as to what I should be going for during the transfer window.
With the gap only five points, I should be able to get that back and challenge for (effectively) the remaining promotion place, it just depends if I can blend the right players together. I have about 300k to spend on players, but only about 2.5k left in the wages budget, so I'll have to make sure the two players i can afford really help me. Also, I thin kthat with the chopping and changing that has been happening in the team (panic! change the players!) some of the individual instructions are unsuitable.
So there is work to be done....

I have to admit that I have always found scouts to be complete and utter garbage in all versions of CM & FM that I have tried, the ones in this game are no different. The only use I have found for them is to scout out hidden attributes.
I mean at this level I don't expect absolute stars, but I also don't expect the vast majority of players found to be riddled with attributes at a level of 1 all over the place, claiming that he's a decent player. Potential I could take but decent? No way.

Sure, I'd agree with that. Hopefully that sort of message will be rectified in '07. After the second enhancement pack, of course.

Aye, the message should be: "This player is complete and utter shoite but he might do a job for you if you are desperate".

I didn't mind the scouting in 01/02, as I'd worked out a system. I'd look for players who were young, had 3 stars or over and looked decent. Anything over that had to be really good afterwards. The scouting system in FM06 is the worst I've seen, half the time I don't get anything back. I mean anything too, so Coffers, I think getting players back who have stats of 1 is something

I played through until January last night, no games, just changed the instructions to suit my first team and then realised that my wingers and one of my strikers need replacing.
And I thought I was sorted.
So scouts off to Coffersland where a couple of Zambians were looked at very briefly and disregarded. Shandyland is also entertaining a scout of mine and so we're ready to import the Faroese national side. It can't do any harm.
More details when the fookers actually sign.

My new scouts have found three fifths so far, not even one name has been sent back from Africa or South Europe.

Oh I think I have had five names back from the one in Coffersland, two Zambians, a Cameroonian and two from Sith Ifrica. All "take a closer look", all "completely cack".
The scout has stats of 14 and 16, so I can't understand why those ones have been sent back to me.

Scout has been in Shandyland for a couple of months and found one lpayer who is gash. The one in Central Europe (who i had forgotten about) is also showing me a pile of gash, even though I'd rather see cheap superstars. Ah well. The Coffersland geezer has shown a little more promise though. As I was a little short on strikers with pace and finishing ability, I signed a 19 yo Cameroonian* for 40k called Mister 45. A little bit of a gamble, as some of his abilities are lacking, but I had 375k in the bank and it was burning a hole. I've played three friendlies in the off season, winning all of them, 1-0, 1-0 and 5-1 with a Polish team and then Partizan Belgrade visiting us in the next ones, I think. I'm not entirely sure if the tweakages have had an effect, although the back four did seem to have a better shape about them. * I think he's 19 and I think he's from Cameroon, but my memory deserts me. He has pace though, I know that much.

What you want is pace, finishing and composure. I t hink it's the composure bit that meas they don't panic and slash wildly at the ball when they get a sight of the onion bag.

IIRC he has 18 for pace and 15 for finishing. I can't remember what his composure was, but to be honest I saw those two stats in a very raw looking player and went for him.
And there wasn't anything in the league rules about forriners either, which was nice.

I hate not getting back any players. I think they've hooked up the satelite, and if they get to see any games, they then report on the ones who did ok. That or they travel to the hot spots and not else and just party day and night, sipping cocktails.
Composure is also a stat I look for when selecting players for penalty shoot-outs and takers in general.

What I forgot to mentionin the last update was that the last game (19th) was a 5-1 humping, so to then come back after the break and so nine matches unbeaten (W6 D3) was very nice indeed. 28 games gone we're in 3rd on 52 with OFK Beograd in 1st on 55 and Borac on 53. Top 6 seperated by four points though, so I need to keep up the pace to get anywhere here.
DLC Insert Here who is only 22 has been immense at the back, newish signing Happy In Slough doing the business through the middle of the park, Warwick Escapade outstanding on the right and Mister 45 has surprised me up front. Has only scored three goals in nine games, but has linked up very well with Stories For Phil and Technically Eight.
Cue Tailspin™.

And the unbeaten run hasn't just been cack sides. OK, there were two in a row against 20th and 16th or something, but I drew one of those. :cab: Not wanting to put the hex on this thing but the small tweaks I did during the off season seem to be holding up. I probably could do with more tweakage when I have to change things for injuries, but I just keep forgetting to.
Hopefully, more tonight.

Managed to extend the unbeaten run to 10 with a draw then got humped 3-1 to leave us with this situation after 30 games...
