Barrow 1 vs 0 Stalybridge Celtic: Our visitors were bottom at the start of the game and showed why, they were dreadful, but so were we, our 2nd game in two days told on us. Left Back Daniel Wilkinson floated in a deep cross on 4 minutes, it eluded everyone including the keeper and sailed into the net at the near post. That was about the highlight of the game. By halftime we had 3 mildly injured players and a knacked striker. 1869 people suffered in silent agony as this game progressed, 1870 if you include me.
We now have a 7 point lead, as Stafford won and Worksop lost.

Barrow 1 vs 0 Alfreton We are really struggling with injuries especially in the striking department, that and too many games in 6 days. The squad is knackered and do well to win this one. A 2nd minute goal by Andrew Bailey blasting in from 8 yards after a near post corner is flicked on. Bailey is an AMR but I had to play him up front because of the current crisis.
Stafford drew and Worksop lost so, halfway through the season, we now have a 9 point advantage. I really need to pull out the stops to find a decent striker. Harwood is being sorely missed. Next week we get a chance to gain revenge for the thrashing dished out to us by Harrogate. The problem is, will we have any players left standing?

Tension mounts. A nine point advantage is very handy at any stage of the season. how many games are left?
Anyway, you seem to have a knack with this team, pulling sneaky wins out of somewhere unmentionable. It's a gift, i tells ya!

Played 21, Won 15, Drew 4 Lost 2. That leaves 21 games to go. We are getting sneaky wins, but the other teams are generally absolutely garbage. Their finishing is unbelievably terrible, so if you can grab a sneaky goal here and there you always have a chance of a win or a non defeat at the very least.

Barrow 2 vs 0 Harrogate Not quite the humiliation that we wanted to inflict on the only team to put more than 3 goals past us, but it will do. Still struggling with fitness and injuries but a near post corner on 22 headed in by Moller gave us a deserved lead. Harrogate managed 1 shot at goal all game. They were reduced to 10 men on 79 and Moller hammered home the penalty. It was a fully deserved win and at last it was by more than one goal.
The gap is still 9 points both our nearest rivals won, but we play one of them, Stafford, in the next game, on their patch. It's another revenge mission as they are the only other team to have beaten us in the league.

More wins, and steadily, if not doggedly, heading towards promotion. Good work.

Three new players arrive at the club: Paul Patterson an AM/RL who we got for free from Walsall reserves, we'd tried for him before but he refused to sign, then he realised no one else wanted him, Mark Brush a DC arrives from Grimsby Reserves and 18yo striker John Smith joins having been released by Kidderminster earlier in the season. None are particularly special, but we needed cover, especially for the strikers, the ones that are currently fit couldn't strike a match.
Stafford 0 vs 1 Barrow Yes I though after 36 seconds, we have a real chance of taking this game, Stafford had been reduced to 10 men due to a last man challenge on Peter White on the edge of the area. The free kick was wasted, as was the fans money on the rest of the game. Dullsville, that is until the 94th minute, Barrow actually put a decent passing movement together, Left back Wilkinson looked up and chipped into the 6 yard box, Moller rose and powered a header in of the left post. Stafford's joy at the thought of salvaging a point was kicked off the planet, they had only managed two off target shots all match and therefore got what they deserved.
That gives us a 12 point lead over Stafford and 15 points on Worksop. Mattias Moller is now our top scorer with 8 goals in 21 games, he's a DC/DMC, it tells a lot about our strike force. The Bosman list is carefully combed and contracts are offered to all and sundry, I don't really expect any joy.
Barrow 2 vs 0 Hinckley We were all over the place and Hinckley had us on the rack for long periods, having said that they didn't do anything in the final third. Three changes were made at the break and tempo was upped, it worked briefly, then we were crap again. On 69, John Smith was fouled in the area and Moller added another to his total from the spot. We remained awful, but added a second when Jonathon Smith got into the area and had his shot saved, Andrew Bailey was on hand to slot away the rebound.
Hinckley were title favourites at the start of the season and now ind themselves in a relegation battle, serves themselves right for having a stupid nickname: The Knitters indeed. HA! Stafford drew 0-0 with Worksop so our cushion increases to 14 points. Gary Cooke a backup D/WB/L goes missing from training and is fined 2 weeks wages, he accepts he did wrong. Andy Spencer the sub GK moans to the papers and is told to prove he is good enough.
Oh and the expected rejection letters from potential Bosmans start to flood in.

Worcester City 0 vs 2 Barrow Worcester pounded us in the first half and got nothing for it, however on 25 Peter White was put through on goal and stumbled his way towards the keeper, as he entered the area he managed to stumble into two chasing defenders, the ball hit one of the chasers shins and bounced to Jason Palmer, with the keeper flummoxed, Palmer poked the ball into the net. Totally undeserved but hilarious to watch. The struggle continued in the second period, but on 67 a flowing move saw Palmer stroke the ball thought the Worcester defence to Nicolas Guerin, the young French midfielder hammered the ball home, it was his first start since return form injury. Worcester will be wondering how they lost this, so was I.
The papers claim we were lucky, the board didn't care they were happy. With Worksop losing and Stafford drawing the league title is becoming nearer by the minute, but I'm sure the AI will have something in store for me soon. In three days we have a derby match at home to Workington.

Barrow 3 vs 0 Workington A sound thrashing of local opponents what better way to celebrate something. The rout started on 27 when Jason Palmer took a ball from Guerin and shot across the keeper, the ball tucked neatly inside the left post. Then the bad news Mattias Moller was sent off on 33 for a second booking, the ref had it in for us today, the cards he waved looked like he was in training for the World Cup. The otehr goaks came in the second half, Peter White had been playing like a plank, on 62 he proved what a plank he was, a bad back pass was picked up by Palmer, he immediately drew the keeper and played the ball across to the plank, eeerrrr, White who let the ball hit him stuck his foot out and the ball rolled into the net. Three minutes later, route 1, Wayne Rose in goal hoofed the ball as hard as he could it sailed over everyones head and Palmer ran free, chipping the ball over the keeper from 20 yards. Easy, easy, easy. 2130 turned up, our best attendance yet.
Moller gets a one match ban and a warning from me. The board are delighted that we hammered our rivals, and Worksop are self destructing with another draw, Stafford won.
Month End: Board delighted profit = £31.5k

Lancaster 1 vs 3 Barrow Lancaster started well and gave us a few frights but we took the lead on 27, Palmer broke, bounced a ball off a defender, it fell to White and he blasted in from 18 yards. On 56, Wilkinson had a shot blocked, it fell to Palmer and he made no mistake from 6 yards. On the hour Lancaster equalised through bad defending. Tictac changes and two minutes later, palmer broke down the right, centred and debut boy Lawson (DM) lamped it in from 12 yards. With a minute to play, Palmer broke again and was brought down 30 yards out, the defender was red carded, but nothing came of the free kick. Stafford Drew, Worksop won, I think they have given up. The board are delighted with the win over Lancaster, apparently they are a team with another stupid nickname: The Dolly Blues. :humb: At least we have something decent in being nicknamed the Bluebirds.

I don't want to do the challenge against all these OAPs. Can I have a biscuit instead? Don't panic Pops, this shower have got into the habit of not conceding too often which helps when we nick goals. The other teams are that bad, they rarely threaten to score anything. Get yourself a semi decent keeper and a couple of good defenders and your away. One good DM for the level and it's virtually sorted.

Barrow 3 vs 1 Nuneaton It was a strange game that we dominated without really getting too many chances. On 3 3Palmer broke down the right, centred and Peter White stroked the ball home, but 4 minutes later a long ball over the top saw Nuneaton equalise. A right tantrum ensued at the break and it instilled some life into the gang of Muppet's. On 54 Jason Palmer latched onto a poor back-pass and dispensed the ball inside the right post. Then minutes later Palmer took a long clearance by goalie, Rose, centred from the right and celebrated when White slammed home from 20 yards. After playing badly for so long, it's a surprise to me that Strikers; Palmer and White seem to have got a partnership up and running. Worksop lost and Stafford drew, we have a 20 point lead with 14 games remaining, I'm starting to feel that this is in the bag. We still cannot attract any decent new blood though. DC Mark Thompson is sold to Workington in return for an IOU promising 10% of his sell on fee, he's not played a single game for us yet. Hednesford 1 vs 1 Barrow A game we dominated and came out with less than we deserved. On 20 Palmer latched onto a long ball down the right wing, his cross was met by White, who held it up whilst being challenged by the keeper and a defender, he layed the ball back and Guerin side footed us into the lead from 16 yards. We had plenty of the ball after that but couldn't make it count. Hednesford, made us pay for the inept performance and equalised on 80. There were a few choice words exchanged at the end of the game. Worksop and Stafford both won to narrow the gap to 18 points. Barrow 2 vs 0 Hyde Hyde were buried in the first half and had no way back. The goals came on 32 for Miller, finishing off a White flick on and, on 37 for Palmer who latched onto a Dawe through ball, beating the keeper at the near post. The bad news is Guerin went off injured after only 7 minutes, he'll be out for 2 weeks with a bruised thigh. Worksop and Stafford drew so we are back to a 20 point cushion with 12 games to play. Only a plummet of epic proportions will rob us of promotion now. Ass-man Eric Ryan claims we need to strengthen the squad if we are to achieve a safe position in the English Conference North, I've news for him, I think we're safe. A delighted board announce a £1.5k profit for February.

Great stuff, Coffers, as usual. Doesn't it get boring having to watch all those wins? I find it does, hence my recent run of non-wins over in Serbia. Much more gratifying. :moop: KUTUW! (Usual )
