Looking pretty tasty, there. The wages you've got them on are bargainacious! I've got my player search set up with teamwork and workrate over 10, so I'd never have spotted Darned Critter. Unless a scout showed him up, that is. I normally look for determination and pace over 10, but at this level I decided that anything free with some ability had to be considered and it paid dividends in full.

You're mad, I'd have sold him like a shot for £1.6m and bought one of the Newcastle full backs on the cheap. Now the difficulty is choosing which one.....

Errrr, how about none of them? Anyhow I reckon a better offer is bound to come along later in the season and, I want to ensure consolidation before reaping the rewards of inflated transfer fees.

ARe you playing in Sweden Coffers? I thought you were playing in Iceland for some reason.
Nice players there, I've got the first one you showed but he's Congo in my game. Some of the youngsters my scouts have found are turning into stars. I've got some Serbian and Monty guys who are starting to look very good, escpecially the striker and the dm/mlc.
Training matters a lot, if you have a youth team and you want them to get their potential stats up, give them a full time contract as soon as possible or I think sticking them in the reserves team works.
Nice work there, every thinks going swimmingly.

He is in Iceland, Sonic, he's just signing anything that isn't Icelandic. I can't help it the scouts scouring Iceland are finding absolutely nothing, well nothing that I can afford, Meanwhile the scout scouring Scandiland is pointing out anything with two legs. The one scouring the UK is finding total rubbish and the one looking around central Europe has found the odd Frenchie or Belgian. To be honest those belting players didn't have belting stats, they had one thing in common, they were free and were found when I was snapping up anything free with a stat or two above 10. I'll try to post shots of the odd Icelander or two that gets his game for the team, the best is probably Hide Away who is now a regular in the Icelandic U21's.

The 2006 The Upper League Cup Games continue again:Our next opponents FH are logged as 1-3 favourites to take us apart, we all know what usually happens next, so I'm off to the bookies to take the 7-1 odds that are offered against us winning the game. The board are still delighted with progress, Crystal Coolbox will be out of contract in 6 months time but I've decided against renewing, we have plenty of cover in the left back position. No one is champing at the bit to take him off my hands for nothing so I reckon he's surplus to requirements. Snooker Loopy, Severe Singlet and Free Loafer all return to training which is good news, but the last named probably won't feature until sometime after the FH game. New signing Extreme Santa is selected for his debut this week, it will be interesting to see how he fares at this level. Fjolnir Vs FH, Starting Line-up: GK: Snooker Loopy, DR: Cyborg, DL: Used Crash, DC's: Hide Away & Extreme Santa, DMC: Darned Critter, MC's: Sky Train & Almost A Munster (Raffia Pudding 88), AMR: Charmed Existence, AML: Foghorn (Boris 73), ST: BMX Flyer (Storm In A Teacup 45). Unused Subs: Bridge Hag (GK), Entebbe raider (D/RLC). 05/04/2006 H. FH (Upper League Cup Grp A) - We struggled to make any impression in a FH dominated first half, somehow we scored first, Sky Train headed a Charmed Existence corner back across to goal, on 28, and the ball found it's way into the right corner of the net. FH stepped up the pressure and a break down their left ended in an equaliser on 37. They continued to press but we held on to parity up to the break. BMX Flyer who wasn't match fit was replaced by Storm In A Teacup. I also told the team how disappointing I found the performance. The change and talk worked, on 58 Sky Train flicked on a Charmed Existence cross and Storm In A Teacup applied the coup-de-Grace at the near post. On 76 a long clearance was met by the FH keeper outside the area, his first touch let him down, Storm In A Teacup nipped in stole the ball and shot into an empty net from 25 yards. Three minutes later he had his hat-trick as Sky Train slipped him in at the near post. FH were dead and buried and they looked it. Despite the scoreline FH had by far the most chances, but we had the players to make use of our 4 on-target shots. Won 4-1, Attendance 190. Weather: Dry 51°f. MOM Storm In A Teacup (10). The pundits described the win as a triumph of tactics and quality of possession over quantity. The win ensures that we qualify for the quarter final stages of the competition. The board are delighted and single me out for praise, for the way the victory was masterminded. I love it. Full back Really Dim is on the injury list after twisting his knee in training. Foghorn is one yellow card away from suspension. Full timer Sky Train played a blinder against FH, here you can see why his name is one of the first on the team-sheet, even if the fans questioned his signing at first: Free Loafer falls over in training and twists his ankle, it means he'll be out for up to 2 months. Severe Singlet breaks a collarbone and goes back on the injury list for up to 2 months. Shouting At Wolves rejoins the world of training. Fram are 6-4 favourites to win the game whereas we get odds of 13-8. Fram (ISL) vs Fjolnir, Starting Line-up: GK: Snooker Loopy, DR: Cyborg, DL: Used Crash Dummy, DC's: Hide Away & Framed For Posterity (Roasted Rasta 71), DMC: Darned Critter, MC's: Sky Train & Almost A Munster, AMR: Charmed Existence, AML: Foghorn (Boris 62), ST: BMX Flyer (Storm In A Teacup 62). Unused Subs: Bridge Hag (GK),Exhausted Pipe (MC). 13/04/2006 A. Fram (ISL) (Upper League Cup Grp A) - The first division side played lot harder game than any of the premiership opponents so far, the game was pretty even and hard contested throughout. It was decided by an early 6th minute goal, when BMX Flyer got ahead of the keeper to head in, from a cracking Cyborg ball into the 6 yard box. Won 1-0, Attendance 513. Weather: Dry 57°f. MOM Cyborg (8). The media pretty much agreed with my assessment of the game in that it was pretty even, what I didn't agree with them on was the fact that it could have gone either way. Charmed Existence damages his neck in training and could be out of action for up to 2 weeks. There was some real banter between myself and the Vikingur manager, in the build up to this game and as a result I'm expecting it to be a cracker. He's really taken offense at some of my comments about him. Vikingur are quoted as 4-6 favourites for our cup clash. Fjolnir vs Vikingur, Starting Line-up: GK: Snooker Loopy, DR: Cyborg, DL: Used Crash Dummy (Roasted Rasta 72), DC's: Hide Away & Extreme Santa, DMC: Darned Critter, MC's: Eye Of A Dalek (Raffia Pudding 72) & Boris (Almost A Munster 89), AMR: Sky Train, AML: Foghorn, ST: BMX Flyer (Storm In A Teacup 72). Unused Subs: Bridge Hag (GK)). 18/04/2006 H. Vikingur (Upper League Cup Grp A) - Despite the promises of their manager in the pre-match banter Vikingur didn't turn up to this one. Sky Train had us a goal up in 2 minutes, heading in a Cyborg cross at the near post. BMX Flyer doubled the lead on 10, latching on to a defence splitting pass from Foghorn and beating the keeper at the left hand post. Vikingur pulled a goal back on 20 after Snooker Loopy failed to deal with a cross. BMX Flyer restored the 2 goal lead on 37, heading in a Sky Train Cross from 12 yards, ensuring that we went in at the break 3-1 up. Four minutes into the second period and Vikingur started to self destruct, Sky Train thumped home a low near post cross for his second of the game. Darned Critter added our fifth goal from the penalty spot on 56 and then BMX Flyer registered yet another hat-trick, on the hour mark, stroking home a penalty off the left post. Won 6-1, Attendance 465. Weather: Dry 57°f. MOM BMX Flyer (10). Cyborg will be out for up to 4 weeks with a twisted knee. The press described the result as a hammering and, adding fuel to the pre match banter I claimed that there was a huge gap in quality between the two sides, the result showed that. Icelandic U21 Centre Back Hide Away is an automatic choice for one of the 2 DC positions, he rarely puts a foot wrong: We're drawn at home to Grindavik in the Quarter Finals of the Upper League cup, the game will be played on 26th April. Jammy Forefinger an 16yo Swedish DC/DMC/MLRC signs as a hot prospect, from Adolfsberg, the deal will cost us £10k plus 15% of any future transfer. Grindavik are made 1-2 favourites for the Quarter Final clash. Fjolnir vs Grindavik, Starting Line-up: GK: Snooker Loopy, DR: Cyborg, DL: Used Crash Dummy, DC's: Hide Away & Extreme Santa, DMC: Darned Critter, MC's: Almost A Munster & Boris, AMR: Sky Train, AML: Foghorn ( 62), ST: BMX Flyer (Storm In A Teacup 62). Unused Subs: Bridge Hag (GK). 26/04/2006 H. Grindavik (Upper League Cup QF) - I expected a hard game as in our only other encounter Grindavik had taken us to a 3-3 draw in which we struggled. What I didn't expect was to be 3-0 up by the 13th minute, from another BMX Hat-trick. The first came on 37 seconds, after Sky Train had headed against the bar, Flyer was first to the rebound. The second went in on 3 minutes when Flyer got to a long Hide Away clearance between two defenders, before sending the keeper the wrong way with a 20 yard shot. On 13, Scratched Bit's cross was headed in from 12 yards. We finished the half 3-0 up. Grindavik came out fighting in the second half and pulled a goal back 18 seconds after we kicked off, Scratched Bit's intercepted pass led to the goal. On 48 Darned Critter restored our 3 goal lead with a 19 yard free-kick. That's how the scored stayed until the 86th minute when Eye Of A Dalek's 40 yard pass found Foghorn, he drifted inside, beat one defender and finished from 13 yards. Finally in injury time Hide Away hit a ball forward and Sky Train volleyed the ball in to complete the days task. Won 6-1, Attendance 214. Weather: Dry 57°f. MOM Sky Train (10). The media reported us as a class apart and several Grindavik supporters admitted that their team had been totally overwhelmed. The board were delighted. I just wish some more fans would turn up. In a passing comment I inform the Grindavik manager that I'm very confident that we have too much quality in the side to even consider relegation a possibility. I must admit that I blinked a little when I realised that not only were the scores of the last two games the same but so were the weather conditions, I thought I was having a groundhog day for a while. Raffia Pudding was the first player to be signed on a full time contract, he regularly makes appearances from the bench, and is another of our Icelandic contingent:

It must be your tactics that are getting the best out of your players, as the stats of the last two didn't seem that outstanding. Fair play then. I just rely on over spending on my wages and closing my eyes for the 90 minutes. You've just got to love those humpings you're giving all and sundry. KUTGVEW!! :thumb: (Vaseline Enhanced)

How the hell do you get these players with wicked stats? Are you using some kind of cheaty training programme? I did in the first game I tried in Peru, but this time around I developed my own from the off. I have to admit that every player is on a very heavy workload, they really hate it, the workl oad might explain the injuries I keep getting. But I have regimes for each of the following area's: Goalie, Defence, Midfield, Attacking Midfield and Strikers. Each of those regimes is repeated for Youth, Part-time and full-time. I can screen shot some if you like or export and forward them via email. They definitely aren't cheaty, because I worked them out all on my own-some. The cheaty ones I used in Peru were developed by the SI programmers. They set every category to intensive which is not possible to do through the game.

Are the youth and part time ones just less intensive versions of the FT ones?

Are the youth and part time ones just less intensive versions of the FT ones? Yes. but the workload is still classed as very heavy. Basically a full time defender has the defensive and Tactics training set to intensive, Strength is high, the rest apart from goalkeeping are set at varing levels of medium, with Aerobic being slightly more important than the others. For part-time and youth defenders, attacking, shooting, goalkeeping and set pieces are ignored totally, defensive training is set to intensive, I think on part-time the tactics is high, on yout the strength is high, the remaining categories are set at about the same levels based on what's left in a very heavy workload. I've done something simiar in the other training regimes based on what I thought important for the role. Midfield training is a bit more balanced accross the board, whereas an attacking midfielders training would be more weighted towards a strikers role but with less intensity on the attacking and shooting. I haven't gone for a defensive midfield strategy yet, though I might do in the future, but to be honest the DM seems to fit in with midfield training quite well.

I've done different schedules for each position, but I've kept them all on the heavy end of medium, rather than go into heavy or very heavy. Maybe I could play with that, although I find at the moment that my MC and wingers get very tired during games, and I don't want to put even more training on them. The rest, though, could probably do with it...

The 2006 The Upper League Cup Semi Final and another friendly:We manage to get a home tie for the semi-final of the UL Cup, we'll meet Þróttur on 30th April, which is in 3 days time. I start off the banter by suggesting that Þróttur don't have it in them to win the Semi Final, I also question their managers ability, he responds by saying that they are looking forward to beating us. I conclude that I won't be drawn into a battle of insults but added that whilst others believed him incompetant I was undecided on the issue. Shouting at Wolves is on the injury list again for up to 6 days with a stubbed finger. charmed Existence resumes training, as does Really Dim. KR beat FH 2-1 in the first semi-final, so we know who our opponents will be if we beat Þróttur, we should and for once we are made 6-4 favourites to win. Fjolnir Vs Þróttur, Starting Line-up: GK: Snooker Loopy, DR: Scratched Bit (Entebbe Raider 69), DL: Used Crash Dummy (Roasted Rasta 69), DC's: Hide Away & Framed For Posterity, DMC: Darned Critter, MC's: Sky Train & Almost A Munster, AMR: Charmed Existence (Boris 45), AML: Foghorn, ST: BMX Flyer (Storm In A Teacup 69). Unused Subs: Shouting At Wolves (GK). 30/04/2006 H. Þróttur (Upper League Cup Grp SF) - It was a crisp clear day, Þróttur started brightly but coould make no impact on our well marshalled defence. We soon started exerting our own influence on the game but strangely our shooting boots seemed as if they had been left at thome. A number of reasonable chances were spurned, until just after the half hour mark BX Flyer played a one-two with Charmed Existence and thumped the opener in from 8 yards. That was it for the half. Þróttur came at us again in the second period and made life difficult, they still could not make any impression on our defence though. Changes were made on 69 to freshen things up and eventually with 10 minutes to play Entebbe Raider sent over a cross, which Darned Critter met on the edge of the area and struck with venom to put the game beyond doubt. Though the win was hard worked it was fully deserved. Won 2-0, Attendance 651. Weather: Dry 46°f. MOM Almost A Munster (8). The press described the performance as highly polished and that Þróttur could count themselves lucky that the margin wasn't greater. Scratched Bit goes on the injury list, with back starin, for up to a month. The UL Cup final against KR will be played on 26th May. With the league season opening around 2 weeks away it looks like another friendly is in order, this time against belgian side germinal Beerschot on 4/5/2006. The board are delighted with progress but we made a £17.5k loss during the month of April. Our Belgian left back, Crystal Coolbox, agrees terms with Fram (ISL) and leaves on a free. Icelandic part-timer, Almost A Munster, who is a regular starter in the Fjolnir midfield, won the MOM award in the last match: 04/05/2006 H. Germinal Beerschot (Friendly) - We easily controlled a drab first half that ended goal-less and a half time encouraging team talk turned things further in our favour. On 58, Extreme Santa crossed the ball to the near post, Sky Train flicked on over the keeper and BMX Flyer applied the final touch into the empty net. At that point wholesale changes were made to give some of the fringe players a chance to shine and boy did they take it. On 62 a poor pass across the front of the area resulted in Storm In A Teacup gratefully pouncing and slotting the ball past a stranded keeper. The battle for the midfield was slowly being won by Fjolnir, by the 80th minute we were hunting in packs and Beerschot didn't like it, on 82 the midfield won the ball yet again, Magnified Eye crossed towards the back post, Bragging With Whores feigned to head it, confusing the keeper and Storm In A Teacup headed in at the back post. In the 3rd minute of injury time Entebbe Raider broke an attack with a great tackle, before Beerscot could compose themselves on the ball, Eye Of A Dalek crashed in with another great tackle, won the ball and fed Storm In A Teacup, the young stiker didn't need any prompting and gleefully netted his hat-trick, to set the mood nicely in the run up to our first ever Premiership game. Won 4-0, Attendance 3054. Weather: Dry 60°f. MOM Storm In A Teacup (9). Part time central defender, Ragnarok replay frequently appears along side Hide Away at the centre of defence, he's generally reliable without standing out:

Probably not Moo. We are still considered as minnows, although I'm already begining to think the Icelandic premiership is weak, too many clubs are part-timers really. Judging by the cup results we should be chasing a top place finish this season. The full time players on my boooks are over-running most of the Icelandic teams by themselves.

So far I think it's been pretty easy, but maybe much of this has been down to some damned good free signings found by my team of scouts.
There are some absolutely belting bargains (for free) in Scandiland, but they don't look it when you first see their stats.

Sonic; I'm confused, do you mean you called him Congo or he's from Congo. If he's from Congo, how can he be the one I've got as mine is Swedish? Democratic Republic of Congo. He's Got this long name that I can't remember. I picked him up for a bargain and he's been great, especially as the striker I started with aged and then became injury prone. I recently picked up my first 5 star coach, and it's Lens Lehmann. I got him as a player/coach but he is costing me 3k pounds and is retiring from playing at the end of the season. It's a wonder he came, considering he could easily have been a starter at Arsenal. THey use Alumni, and it's their weakest position I also picked up Mendieta as a player/coach. All my coaching stars are 4, except GK, which is 5.

So far I think it's been pretty easy, but maybe much of this has been down to some damned good free signings found by my team of scouts. There are some absolutely belting bargains (for free) in Scandiland, but they don't look it when you first see their stats. I mostly picked up my players from the reserve teams of the big clubs in Poland, and some good scout recommendations. Some of the youth players they've shown me are now in the side and have been capped by Serbia and Montenegro. I've yet to get a first team regular Polish international, though I have about 5 players or so called up regularly. I think I've got the best prospect striker for Poland too, another great scout recommendation. Speaking of scouts, I've finally been able to get scouts that have 15 for both searching type stats. I've got 2 now One more season before I jump ship, depending on how Europe goes. I seem to have the league covered, having won it the last three straight years. It's just the LAC that I'm having a bit of trouble with, especially the huge clubs. THey seem to walk over me no matter what I try. If I have a player sent off, look out, but if they do, it seems to make no difference. I seem to attract Chelsea and Inter all the time :moop:
