That's Sweden fucked then. Aye, you've got Northern Ireland in your group and Swedes don't like playing against Northern Ireland. Or is that just one particular Swede? :humb:

It's not such a far-fetched idea, seeing as how I am officially the most popular man on the island. What with you being the only man'n'all. Definite lack of testosterone up there. Not enough McDonalds meals, too much of this healthy air stuff we hear about.

England's group looks perfectly easy for the team to sail through, just as soon as we've kicked out the team's most successful manager since Ramsey and replaced him with someone who can instill a bit of death-or-glory bloodlust into the side. Kevin Keegan's still available, isn't he?
Ye gods.
Watford, then.
Fantastic strikeforce, easily a match for anyone in the division with the possible exception of Reading. Marlon King has been an absolute revelation, Darius Henderson is superb in the Sherringham-esque "supporting striker" position and Ashley Young has gotten goals whether he's played out wide or through the middle. Good midfield, with last year's player of the season Gavin Mahon seeming to be finally rounding into a bit of form and some dangerous options out wide. Decent defence, Clarke Carlisle is an absolute rock in the centre when fit. All of this anchored by a keeper who's a first-rate shot-stopper but seems to sometimes lack a little focus - bringing back fond memories of the David James era.
The problems? A little bit of inconsistency (we're yet to win a game against any of the teams in the bottom 5, albeit with another chance coming up this weekend against Crewe) and, far more importantly, a scarily thin squad. There's just not enough cover for the key players, and you have to suspect that's going to be an issue before May.
Still, given that I was resigned to relegation before the season started, I'll take a finish in the top half of the table but well outside the playoffs, which is my gut feeling for where this is going. It's a young side, by and large, so there's plenty to build on and with a few additions next year we really, honestly might be in a position to challenge for spending a year getting the pantfish kicked out of us by all and sundry in the Premiership (not premier, not a ship).
I can dream.

This season has finally seen some consistancy enter the squad. Much confidence was taken from the team winning the very big club cup and the non-sale of Captain-Hero-Everyman has been a good thing as it meant the club was a balance. On the right. Sometimes. He does look very good coming in from the right and being free. The 'keeper situation finally looks sauted, except for the eventual departure of the Polish one. The Defence has been stunning, and the left back position, and depth in the centre finally looks to being recitified. It was especially good to see the first signing being swapped for someone who can talk to the rest of the defence. He tried, I'll give him that. The midfield, which I think is the strongest part of the team, except for the right wing, has been excellent, and Alonso and Gerrard were made to play together, along with Sissoko. Possibly the best midfield in the EPL, with Chelsea's the only exception as they have wingers for the right. It's very good to see Kewell starting to get back to Leedesque form. All together now, sssiiiggghhh Now I get to the 'interesting' part of the team. The Bean Pole who started to do a Heskey, Cisse(I wouldn't mind a swap for Mick, what you think Moo?) who's fast and in the wrong team tactic, Nando who's talented, but there's something about him that I can't put my finger on, and then there is GOD. Where did that come from, apart from being free of course. I didn't see that one at all. Europe has gone well and if things should go well, Benfica will be put behind to make the second round of the LAC. A winning streak that was broken by Man Utd(breaker of streakers, go on, count them) which was an unlucky lose saw Chelsea finally scoot away from the only team that looks like they could get somewhere close. I see a second place finish, but more goals need to be scored. I'm happy with the season, as it's probably been the best side in about 10 years, apart from the strikers, which was about 5 years ago.

1. Newcastle Utd won their FA Cup match at the weekend. 2. Boumsong didn't struggle badly against a League 2 striker 3. God is free.
One of the above statements is a complete load of old toot. Have a guess... :cab:

No.2?
We won 3-2 at Caley, a difficult place to get a result in recent times. And to be fair, it was 3 going on 15, if we had taken even a third of our chances. One-way traffic for most of the game, yet still our defence looks ready to concede any time the opposition come over the halfway line.
Ridiculous.
Still, Celts were pegged back to 3-3, although the Hearts result was poor for us.
Back into 3rd, 7 behind Hearts, 15 behind the Unwashed.
And only 36 hours or so for new blood...
Off to Edinburgh tomorrow for the rest of the week. Should be ian-teresting.

Even better than that- two days training on a new database. Yummy. No, my "travel" starts on my birthday- 6th March, flight from Gatwick to Barbados, then on to Georgetown, Guyana and down into the jungle. I'll take pictures.

Where did that come from, apart from being free of course. I didn't see that one at all. Cisse - worst first touch in football. One day Liverpool will realise it's better to pay their star players £120k a year, than spend £14m on a halfwit replacement who lasts a year (seriously, McManaman, Fowler, Owen...replaced with Diouf, Smicer, Heskey, Cisse etc). Even at an overpaid £6m a year apiece it'd have been cheaper to keep them. Bean Pole is an average Prem Striker in a bizarre shape. Morientes just doesn't work hard enough to create the opportunities to thrive. Wants the moon on a stick he does. Wouldn't have minded Fowler at West Ham, think we overpaid on Mr.Ashton for certain. Poor mans younger Fowler.

So, FA Cup 5th round draw...
Preston/Crystal Palace v Coventry/Middlesbrough Newcastle v Southampton Aston Villa v Manchester City Everton/Chelsea v Colchester Charlton v Brentford Liverpool v Manchester United Bolton v West Ham Stoke v Reading/Birmingham
Interesting. Colchester get a nice pay day, and Liverpool play Man Utd. Good stuff.

I have my Malarone here, my mosquito nets/repellent on the way and my arm ready to be dartboarded.
I lived in Guyana about 25 years ago, so know the country, but it will be interesting to see the changes.
