Week 13/2009I think this is good. Minnesota Att Comp Yards Sk/Yd TD LG Int Rate Scott Martinez 24 23 318 0/0 5 49 0 158.3
At home to the 7-4 Redskins, I didn't think we were capable of this at all. A 38-13 mauling with Foley running for 101 yds but the MVP was deffo Martinez. His main target was veteran Tanner who was the only one to drop a pass, but it didn't matter. The overall performance was excellent. Of course with the good news always comes bad. Both starting corners were injured, one for 2 weeks, the other for 7. Week 14/2009In a slight comedown, we lost away at Pittsburgh who like us were 8-4 going into the game. The snow didnt help us at all and this was shown in the 35-14 drubbing we took. Martinez did OK and we ran the ball pretty well, but couldn't convert. The defense was poor though and couldn't find any answers to their air attack unfortunately. Our loss of both starting corners seemed to hurt us more than we'd hoped it would. I hope you fined him for the incompletion.

Week 17/2009And to finish, a squeaker with Detroit, with a last minute Martinez throw to nick it 24-23. It should never have got that desparate though as we missed three field goals, but Marttinez was our saviour again with 3TDs and 65 yds running. 2009 Regular Season Standings AC North W L T Pct PF PA Conf Div Pittsburgh 12 4 0 .750 397 282 9-3 5-1 Baltimore 7 9 0 .438 255 309 5-7 3-3 Cincinnati 7 9 0 .438 302 350 5-7 2-4 Cleveland 6 10 0 .375 297 302 3-9 2-4 . Good stuff, Mooski. The offence seems very well balanced - a 1,000 yard runner, a 3,000 yard QB, and the catches seem to be shared around fairly well. The pass rush seems to be working pretty well, with pressure from both ends, but your run defense could possibly do with a little work.
KUTGW, and good luck in the playoffs :thumb:

11-5 is better than I had hoped for so I was very pleased with that. Even though Martinez is by no means an elite QB, he seems to be just what I wanted to settle the offence down and build elsewhere next season. I'll offer him an extension, even though I don't need to, just to keep him there for a while. Looking at the stats again, I think I really need a RB who can get more average yards, as that wasn't as good as it should be. I might use a second rounder on that. A quality DT and a LG is high on the list as well, hopefully free agency will be kind.
I'll see if there are any other stats I can see of any interest from around the league. Yardage comparisons for the QB, etc. It'll be interesting to see where DE Powell is in the sacks standings.
We have San Francisco in the playoffs at home and I expect an early exit in all honesty.

A good LG might help the running game. A good DT is a very good idea. According to Narkle, the key to this game is a very good QB, so if one pops up in the draft, snag him.
I feel the need to play this game sometime soon; I've got an old copy somewhere at home...

All these stories are stirring me to look into investing in said game. Bostords :moop:
In other sentences, well done on that season Moo. A very nice base to build from.

Garciaparra for Defensive Rookie of the Year. :humb:
Good work Mr Moo. A young 60+ OVR quarterback is nothing to be sniffed at, I wouldn't bother looking for a new one until he crashes. The next stage for world domination should be a top flight receiver. Then you'll win everyfink.

It depends what happens in free agency, of course, but I like the idea of a top WR to play with, especially with Martinez' completion rating.

You've got pretty low yards/target from your receivers, maybe you should be looking to get the ball to your tight end a bit more - getting over 10 yards every time the quarterback looks his way is pretty damned good for a tight-end, although the sample size is probably too low to draw too many conclusions from[/FOFC-ese]
A reliable 1,000 yard receiver would be noice to get your offence ticking along more evenly and relieve some of the pressure from the running game.
A 76.5 PD% isn't optimal for a starting cornerback, neither.
*edit - just saw the tight end is an 11-year vet so you're probably best not trying to build too many plans around him.

The game's called Front Office Football 2007 (FOF2007) - the C on the end stand for "Center" and is the main/only forum associated with the game.
Which you ought to know really, what with you having spent a decent length of time on the forums over there. Lest we forget.

I got a rookie TE last season to bed him in this season and get him active next. He's a touch better than the vet, IIRC.
Passing to the TE is something I was trying to figure out how to do but couldn't see where I could do that. Any advice?
Blanchard isn't a starter at CB, Narkle, Shields and Flannery are, but Flannery was the dude that got injured for 7 weeks after a big win. IIRC, he was hurt at the start of the season too. Should we be aiming for 80+%?

It's more that I've ignored the title of the game till now because I knew that if I knew what it was called, when I'm in shops that sell these types of games, it would jump out at me and I'd feel something along the lines of purchasing it. I see that worked.

Another part of the plan that worked is that the game ins't sold in any shops.

Exactly. It should be now cheaper on ebay if I do want to look/see what this game is all about for myself.

Generally 79-80% is what you want from a starter cornerback, aye Moo. Anything over 82 and you're laughing. Haha. See.
If you want to target a tight end you need to use 5-8 yard (short) and 9-12 yard passes. And for the tight end to have good route running. (Despite what the help file may suggest, basically - Route running = liklihood of quarterback targeting the player).
|
|
|
Post by Moo on Mar 18, 2009 15:03:33 GMT
So Route Running is more like a "QB is confident in this player" statistic then. And that with "avoid drops" just means more looks, I guess. OK cool, I can go with that. Cheers.

Wild Card/2009Well, that was short and sweet. Beaten at home 16-14 by San Fran in a dour game, their running game grinding out the clock and with a very good QB at the helm, they passed at will. Our defence tried and held them outside FG range for the most part, but we didnt seem in control of our own destiny. We start more building, now. And Philadelphia beat Jacksonville 17-10 in the Superbowl Front Office Championship.

Did you use Sillyvision for the play off game?

Post by Moo on Mar 19, 2009 8:36:20 GMT
No, only silly people use that.
*edit* I should add that whenever I used sillyvision on the Seattle game, I was beaten. I tried to use that to my advantage by not watching it, hence gaining a win. That didn't quite work, obv.
