Probably a duffer, TBH, but he's better than what I have and I know that I can afford his wages.

The Czech update happened. My defender went up... one point. :moop:

Okay, so I'm missing the point again (shouldn't have kept skipping the Tutorial) but Czech update? So does some dude up the players scores every so often? I wondered what that was all about, the wee green arras.

I have... a cunning plan. It won't work for us duffers in the lower leagues, save for elth, who'll win everything anyway, so I feel safe in revealing it. 1 : Check out the leagues that are being reviewed next. 2 : Find players who are rated mediocre but are have had good seasons since their last re-rate. 3 : 4 : Profit! ^ This Pops. The leagues are updated on a rolling basis. So as we just joined he'd just finished the English Championship and Swiss and Danish Premier leagues. Up next were the Czech, Polish and Belgian premier leagues. So if you can find a guy who's rated fairly average, but has cracked the national team or something since his last re-rate, (you can see his last re-rate in a player's profile), then there's a chance you can buy him and set his wages when he's, say... an 84 and then have him "pop" to an 86/87 almost immediately. I did four minutes of research with my Newcastle side and found that the current top scorer in Belgian football with 16 goals is rated as an 84, so I bought him. I also put in an offer for that Lukaku fella, who's rated an 86, I think, but is one of the better prospects in world football right now, so hopefully will get re-rated a couple of points up. With Leyton Orient I bought a Czech defender who was rated 75, but had played a bunch for the Czech U19s and he got popped a point to 76, which is nice, as he's a "DEF" so can play anywhere at the back, but I was hoping for 77 or 78.

Aye - the scouts update players' ability based on their real life showing. They have a schedule of leagues they update and it's just switched to the Polish and Czech leagues with the non-existent league to follow tomorrow. So if you've heard of a player who has clearly improved recently in one of the leagues that is due to be updated then it might be worth buying him now, before his ratings (and price tag/wage demands) increase.
Of course your impression of whose improved and the games scouts' may not converge. In these instances I would imagine it's customary to moan about it on the forum and barrage all admins and mods evah with "WHY HASNT MY PLAYR GOT BETTER!!!!1!!" PMs.

Here you go, Pops. Click "Game World" then "Player Database Changes" and it shows you which leagues are being reviewed and which are up next. Sadly, not only did my Czech get a +1, he also got a position change from DEF to LB. So now as a follower of the God Nevillish he's not quite as useful.

Didn't realise they changed a players position. That would seem to have the potential for wrecking havoc on squads.
Unfortunately my cunning plan of buying players before the database review and then "trading" them for slightly better players coming up in the next review won't be working out because of this pesky month and a half transfer ban. So with my money dwindling rapidly I'm going to be pretty much stuck with what I have soon.

Ok, well that's useful, thanks. Useful in that I have totally misinterpreted the ratings change system and have probably just filled my squad with fannies.
Yay™
Thanks, chaps. I advance with knowledge.

So with my money dwindling rapidly I'm going to be pretty much stuck with what I have soon. I think they generally get an addition, rather than a subtraction - Carlos Edwards has been played exclusively at RB since Paul Jewell took over Ipswich and as the Championship was re-rating last week he went from RM to RM/RB. It may just be because Mahlicky (what a great name - Ma Licky), is young - I remember early versions of CM had young Sulzeer Campbell available to play just about every position on the field bar keeper. I signed a Imaginary called van Loo, (just to get the commentators to say "Ma Licky van Loo"), who should be re-rated soon. Com'on... +6!

That's what you get for spending £3.5m plus players on one guy, Narc.

Tee hee. Perusing Belgians is an acceptable Wednesday afternoon task, I feel.
I saw Nark's blokey, but he does look a bit good.

I see deej is in.
Much as trawling for young Belgians appeals, I should probably get some sleep before the Man United game.

Go new boys! Sebo MOM again and the match instructions on 75 minutes kick in with two new signings combining for the winner.
I like the simplicity of this game, though I still think the simplicity is a bit too much when it comes to the likes of Sebo signing for Swindon- loses a little reality, but I ain't complaining.
Avaunt!

First win of the season! Woot. Whoever had this lot before me signed a couple of absolutely gun Swedes.
Oooh, I've got Moo's lot on the weekend. First Divot derby of the game?
