THe Patriots are in no way, shape or form a 10 win team. The game yesterday™ was coming and there can be no complaints. I like Tannehill, he's still learning, but I like him. I also like Joe Philbin from the Hard Knocks show, I thought he came across well.
However, I nearly wet myself with the FG that wasn't. I larfed.

Hanging out in the Reddit game thread I was amused how many Patriots were complaining about a non-call on Pass Interference on third down, considering the COLLECT A FREE WIN card they were given seven days ago.

There's you mistake, Stu, thinking that people you know on the internetz know what they're talking about.
Look at this place for example.

As for the field goal, there's a few teams around the league that should try our long snapper at QB, because that was a beautiful spiral. He just has to line up in the shotgun backwards and throw the ball through his own legs.

I think your holder hopes someone picks him up too. He didn't look happy.

There are some Patriots fans who just don't help the cause. What a stupid username.

SO Jeff Ireland has gone, Stu. Isn't that a happy time for you? By what I have read, he wasn't particularly popular in recent years. In other news, the Colts pick up Deion Branch for a week from FA. Next week, if they make it past New England, the word is that they've got Rod Smith lined up.

Remember last year when New England fans put up signs about Ray Lewis' retirement party? Yeah...

In all fairness, last year we had a good chance of retiring Lewis. This year, the t-shirt is stupid. I know I'm Mr Glass-Halfempty III, but I really can't see the Patriots winning this without some significant help from the Broncos.
i'm being slowly persuaded that the 49ers will beat the Seahawks as well. I've even taken the over on 39.5 points in that game because I think that it'll end up being a game of "Fuck you" big plays from the coaches.

I had you as favourites to retire Lewis for sure. Much the same way I had you as favourites to beat the Giants. But registering "19-0" as a trademark before that game was still a stupid thing to do, favourites or not.
I'm surprised Bill lets it happen.

I can't watch that yet, I'm at work, ye twat.
In related news, disappointing is how I would describe last night's defeat. I was hoping for a bit more of a fight, especially in the trenches, but we got nowhere near the upper hand there so we deserved to lose.
I'm just wondering what Billy will do with Blount and Talib now. I'd probably try and sign them both for a couple of years, but players wouldn't like that short a contract.

Find some other random retread and turn them into a Pro Bowler, probably.

NFL considering doing away with extra point attempts in order to have automatic 7 points for a TD with an additional point up for grabs if you pass/rush into the endzone. If you fail though, you drop to 6. All because point after efforts have become "automatic".
Easier solution seems that extra points should be kicked from further away then, while offering the offence the option of trying to go for 2 as it currently works.
Silly Goodell.

Or just making the two point conversion compulsory without increasing the TD to 7.

Or just get rid of kickers entirely and rename your sport.

I like this game. OR - only having three people on the kicking team for the extra point; snapper, holder, kicker. Imagine the panic.

Stole this from Grantland - have the person who scored the TD kick the PAT.

I seem to recall that idea being bandied around in rugby at one point.
Anyway, why don't they just put up a set of inner posts and segment the goal area, a kick straight through the middle would be worth 4 on a FG and 2 on XP. It'd be like the offseason career challenge in Madden.

Or make it a box, but on the ground, with someone to try and stop it from going in. And put it on ice.
