Here's a surprise, I beat Elth for the first time in ages. Mostly that's because he plays with a midfield.

They're generally a good idea. I try to, but mine aren't very good.

I'm training defenders which means my better midfielders generally don't face Elth.

I won last weekend.
But Sonic beating me for the first time in ages has no doubt got the squad spirit down a bit.

Possibly, though I did this after being beaten two weeks in a row by the best two teams in my league.

Another rough week - Lokochita lost 3-0 to the second best team in their division, which is not a terrible result considering they were away from home and the Germans got into trouble for the second week running, trying to wring a result out of a better team when they had another player sent off.
Bismarck fell behind 1-0 on 60 minutes and with no wingers on the field getting the equaliser was always going to be tough. Fortunately a counter attack gave us an equaliser for a solid 1-1, but I really need to play the games with 11 on the field to get anything.
The Russians have wheeled in the sports psychologists to make sure the team confidence doesn't disappear.

Chita have played only two home games in six, which isn't helping. ![](http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/1269/saints20080728094044dh5.png) Bismarck's home form should guarantee 6th place. ![](http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/4306/saints20080728094133lv1.png)

Eruptions played out a 1-1 draw with all the action coming in the first half. All except a yellow card in the second half. If you weren't at the stadium by the 30 mins mark, all the goals were missed. The second half was not pretty for the fans. Still, it was more than I was expecting from the game, and I'm hoping more than what Melbournian will get against them. Here is the actual text, the smallest I've had yet. Notice the second half. Or should I say, the lack of... A table: ![](http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/3143/ht6am8.png)

Business was resumed between Elth and I, as he beat me at his place 1-0. Fortunately, I'm hoping, I followed Stu's path and brought in to the club a sports physiologist, and I'm hoping he will keep up the morale(or whatever it's called) for the next game which is against the second placed side at their place.

Midseason has come and passed us by. Where do we all stand? I'm not sure about everyone else, but I have an idea. I'm excited by this weekend's standings in Eruptions league. First, the week before. Sonic Eruption's would like to welcome to the fold outstanding 28yro Argentinean Walter Eduardo Biasutto from Hong Kong side EheiGoGoGoal for the sum of 1 874 000 AU$. May his stay be enterprising. Bulging Cinos of Sonic Eruptions played the originally named unglorious. Yes, even with the lowercase first letter. We lost the game 2-0, but at their slightly more original Ayresome Park. Two goals in the second half sunk Eruptions. I put it down to not paying attention to who played where in their team, and how I set up my team. One feels that new signing Walter Eduardo Biasutto played well but was let down by the tactic. The midweek friendly saw business resumed as Elth had his usual way with my team by putting 2 goals passed me for no reply. We were saving our lava up for games that counted. And so we come to this weekends game... Bulging Cinos of Sonic Eruptions v's unglorious. The Volcano - 20,111.The Volcano with a disappointing crowd of 20,111, hosted the return leg of the lowercase unglorious, and saw them take the same approach to playing Eruptions. Eruptions had had a few worthy news articles from training during the week, though only one of them would be very obvious. A player sold, Rod Wran for about $750k, a profit of over $500k. During the week, training was fantastic, and we had a bunch of defenders become excellent, and formidable. One has been put up for sale too, to bring in another forward or midfielder. The game started out with both teams showing their tactics, with unglorious showing their usual 352. However, Eruptions sprung a 532 on unglorious giving Walter Eduardo Biasutto support. There was a little bit of bedding in of the tactic, which unglorious took advantage of in the 16th minute. A yellow was awarded to an unglorious player in the 16th. The moment of the game came in the 26th minute when unglorious's captain was taken off injured. He was also an integral part of their midfield. It didn't take long for Eruptions to take advantage of this upheaval as Ronan Galili equalised after a corner kick was knocked to him at the near post. I'm going to have to take that as he headed on or something lilke that, as he's not my set piece taker. A smart save a minute later in the 36th minute by Eruption's Keeper Elram Glikstein saw both sides go into the break, though not before a yellow was dished out to another unglorious player for shrit tugging. The second half was a lot slower, with the first play the biggest play of the half; Walter Eduardo Biasutto finding his way through Eruption's Guest's central defense to clip in a goal to put them into the lead. Rocky Stoltenberg should have done better in the 73rd minute but the last play of the game went to unglorious. An attack down my left flank, my weakest. The flank that saw their first goal scored, was attacked from again. This time the defense performed admirably, and scrambled the ball out for a corner. Well done sirs. And that was game! Happy days even though there is no change for us on the table, we've now taken more points than Melbourne have from the other teams in the league. Sonic Cinos of Bulging Eruptions 2 - 1 unglorious.A league table: ![](http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/74/eruptionsju2.jpg)

I'm up to fifth, but equal on points with fourth, after bopping the second worst team in the league on the head two weeks running.

Still plugging on with the Russians and Germans and having very different seasons. Chita surprised De@d Men W@lkin' 3-0 at home thanks to a match of the season set up and then somehow won 2-1 against them away and then continued their lucky streak by using "Play it cool" against PLcoast and spawning a 1-1 with a special event goal. W@alkin' are actually 72 points better than Tantouze, but losing both games against Chita has put them in a sticky spot. It also means that Chita should finish fifth and get a (hopefully) easy qualifier. ![](http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/4080/saints20080818090907hf2.png) Meanwhile, it's a very different story for the Bismarcks, as the run earlier in the season where they had two men sent off in two games turned out to be the sound of the death knell for their chances of survival. What should have been six points from two easy games turned into one point and the Bismarck is pretty much sunk. ![](http://img359.imageshack.us/img359/7178/saints20080818091207vo9.png)

I don't want to talk about my last game. It was nil all away to the Wiginers FC until the 85th minute when they spawned a spawny goal. Gutted, as we easily deserved a point. I've also invested in my team a bit, and the next game at home to the Hunter Bronco's will tell a tale of where I end up this season. I've still a guaranteed 6 points coming up, but it will determine what happens with these teams that see where I end up this season. I might just surprise someone else in my league by the end of the season.

I got beat 2-1 at home to the second best team in the competition, but I've got the worst team away next so I should be able to Play it Cool and get a good run of form going for the home stretch.

I just need a result from this weekends match, and then I can play it cool until the end of the season. Though, if I want, I can not win a match and stay in 6th spot easily. I'm hoping to rattle a few cages come the end of the season. So far, I've given a few scares, which, I'm sure, where unexpected.
Oh, and I've had a few defenders pop to formidable, and some pop to excellent, and a midfielder pop to poor and solid as well. After next weekend, I'll be looking at selling a player or two and brining either a quality midfielder or forward. I'm happy with who I've brought in so far, as they've made noticeable changes already.

I just pulled a pretty decent winger, although his passing sucks so that could be improved.

The week before, I pulled a solid passing inadequate winger/playmaking with poor defending. He was 17 I think too.

Bismarck drew 0-0 away to the bottom team which means they need a miracle to survive. No snookers required yet, just a mircale.
I'm thinking of selling off the entire defence, getting relegated with a pot of money and switching my training scheme to whichever skills my youth team produces, if any.
Meanwhile, the Russians continued on into WTF?! territory with their third straight win and second straight while using play it cool. As a result they're dangerously close to accidentally coming fourth and missing out on a relegation playoff.
The reason for the play it cool were twofold; firstly we were playing better teams with no chance of winning (ha!) and secondly, this week I'm playing against the guy who got me back into hattrick and I was building up to spring the Match of the Season surprise on him. I didn't anticipate having so many points at this stage though, so now I might not bother, to ensure I get the playoff and the extra money.
Stupid accidental success.

Might.

Elth, have you hired a doctor and a physio? They help with young players, but the 32+ players have their own time frame of recovery.
It looks like we've swapped in this way too. Incidentally, you won't be playing my best defender any more, as he's now played himself into the first team again, after getting a red.
