Steady on, you'll be giving yourself apoplexy if you aren't careful, you might even reach the mighty status of ball-boy soon.

No chance. And our manager decided to buy two midfielders and a defender over the weekend, so my superb skills won't be showcasing any time soon. Not even in the cup final tomorrow. :moop:

And naturally, because my only discernable skills are pace and finishing, the game's decided that I'm a... centreback.
I take it back, it's not Moo in charge. It's Steve McLaren.

I'd have you as a winger, clearly.

All Moo needs is a pair of studs up tackles and he'll be a perfect midfielder.
Stu and quick? Is there a large muffin to defend against in your goals or something?

The boss must love me again - he's given me a number :

I don't have a number yet, but I'm listed back at DC again. I'm hoping for the #27 shirt if I'm asked which one I want.

Our team had a couple of players booted for inactivity meaning that we couldn't field an 11-man team. So I didn't get any match experience. What's the point of all that then? I might as well be on a proper team where I can get the benefits of team training.

To say this is a slow burner is an understatement. My team's forum is good though, very active.
We missed the chance to challenge at the top of the league after a 0-0 draw with 1st placed Croft. They've now clinched the title with one game to go after the result. it appears that our manager is going to splash the cash on a striker over the next couple of weeks to bolster that are. It's looking likely that I'll feature in pre-season friendlies, but nothing else next season.

He hasn't got the killer instinct to win a league.

We were four points from Croft with two games to go. Don't wory, he's been abused in the forum for his slightly defensive tactics by some of the other players.
I'm assured he knows what he is doing.

How long has this game thing been going for? What type of stats does some of the better players have?

It's at the end of the 5th season, I think, It's the same basis as the HT fixtures, leagues of eight teams, one cup, etc... I'd have to check the better players, but the oldest player I have seen is 20, I'm 17. Some of the attribute points totals will be different I think because you get extra points if you train with a human team. I'm not entirely sure of that, I'd have to check that also.

Meanwhile! Our inevitable march to glory continues with a 13-0 loss at home to Angels, with me getting 90 minutes at left-back, despite being right-footed and listed as a DC.
Beniteztastic!
I'm now on the books as an FC. Which I assume is our manager shugging his shoulders and saying "well. THAT didn't work, did it?"

I'd guess that this is the 4th season, given there's no-one older than 20. The best players have 20 in say 3 or 4 skills and 10s in 5 or 6 more.

I continued to show people around Chicago and popped my Stamina. To 1.
The manager is trying a new training scheme because he's noticed that with his current scattershot system, the people with high level personal trainers pop several skills a week while everyone else doesn't pop at all.
At first glance, to me, his new system looks to be identical to the old system, but I'm sure that's because it's just too complicated for me to understand.
Meanwhile, the other guy, Hermann Stammers is up to 4 technique and 1 Positioning, despite playing on a bot team, thanks to being able to use my non-scattershot training system.
Clearly the smart thing to do is to train one skill, several times in one week, ensure everyone pops at least one points in it (more than one for people with high level trainers) and then move on to another skill the next week.
If only I could be bothered to pay to manage a team.

No chance of me paying for it.
My guess with the training is that you get partial increases in the skills, but only notice it when the next integer is reached. So you wouldn't notice your technique moving fro 1.85 to 1.93, but you would when it goes to 2.01 or something. i duno, just guessing.
It would kind of make some sense when I read about there being a bonus for having three consecutive training sessions in the same discipline.

That's the way it works, you're right, so all training is useful. I guess it's just a psychological thing that actually popping to the next level in a skill and not gaining any invisible ability in others feels better.

I think I read somewhere that trainers don't help if you're following team training.
Of course, the fact that we didn't have a match on Saturday meant that I wasted a day training fitness when I was already in pretty good condition. Because I hadn't played a match.

Pop!
Technique 2, Tackling 1, Stamina 1, Positioning 1, Short Passes 1.
I'm keeping to the team training schedule as much as I can, I'm not sure if training witht the team gives me more of a boost than training your own stuff. I might go and investigate.

It does. Investigation over.
From what I've read it's something like 100% effectiveness on team training. 80% for individual training +2% per trainer level.

If I remember rightly from my five second skim of the rules a few weeks ago, it's 100% when you train the same as the team, 75% when you don't. 85% if you train on a bot team.
