Time to start talking about the next Guild tournament I guess. This time it won't be so long winded. I prospose to do the 3 cards for one course over a short period type tournament. One card each to be submitted on each of 3 particular days. The winner of each particular day will win something, and the overall winner at least will receive a prize. The question is which course to use. I have an idea but will leave it until closer to the tournament so that practice is limited, maybe making for a 'fairer' system. The leaderboard will only be updated once all cards are in for a particular day. Now I need suggestions when everyone can be available to do 3 rounds over 3 days, or should we just allocate a week and nominate 3 days in the period that a card can be entered?

You're saying I'm fat?
If we were going to try and mimic real life (yeah, like that'll catch on) then we should only be able to go on the course a total of three times, one per day and on designated days. However, human nature being what it is, some of us (ie me) would just quit if a round was going badly and start again. The only way to counter that would be to have the player send a message/email or something to you to say that they are going to start a round and then they would have to post that score, with screenie.
If that is too strict, then having to nominate a "day" that the player has to submit a score could also work. It means that they would have more time to improve, but they would have to submit a score, even if it's cack. That player would also have to stick to that day and not give the old "I couldn't play because...." excuse, even though they probably were and were shite.
TBH, the handicaps are guesswork at best, so the likes of me would have to just accept that my player level is waaaay above what it should be and that I'm just cack. Nobody will ever be happy with their HC, so anything you wish to put forward should be fair and I'd have to say that they would be, because I know you put a lot of effort into the ones used in the Summer Tournament.
You weren't given enough of these for that: :thumb:
So yeah, I have vacated the floor. And dropped some sweet wrappers.

If we were going to try and mimic real life (yeah, like that'll catch on) then we should only be able to go on the course a total of three times, one per day and on designated days The only way to realistically ensure this would be to pair people up at the very least and make them submit a joint card or multi-player card but it would still be open to abuse. To totally stop such abuse I would have to name a time that everyone has to meet up and play, then keep popping in rooms to watch progress. That I think would cause a number of problems. I don't want to impose too many problems on people as want it to be more fun, rather than the slog like the last one became. To be honest there would be nothing stopping someone playing three good rounds in one day then one of each of the cards on different days. The thing is that you don't know what others have posted for each day until I publish the results. I would operate a handicap system and it would probably be based on what we have already. Only this time the handicap you get is based on the level at the end of the round. I'd call in all the loan clubs too, so at least everyone is playing with their own clubs, purchased so far.

After seeing a picture myself in a hammock whilst on holiday in Turkey, there is no way I can accuse anyone of being fat. Even Boo.

Thinking towards a Prize fund for the next Comp:
Daily Winner Prize will be a 100 hole +6 Stamina Zod, which could be sold easily in the Auction house for between 170k and 220k. 220k is realistic.
Total Prize Fund for Overall Leaderboard = 1,000,000 NG
1st: 50% = 500,000 2nd: 25% = 250,000 3rd: 12.5% = 125,000 4th 6.5% = 65,000 5th: 3.5% = 35,000 6th 2.5% = 25,000
Anyone care to comment on the proposal?
Oh as we only have 6 Guild Members at present apart from me, this means that Everyone gets something, providing they enter that is.
Should I award more to the lower places and less to the higher places?

Still awaiting responses from Vince, Stu and ELth?
Suggestions for timing of the event would be useful. How does the first full week in November grab everyone? Say Friday 2nd through Saturday the 10th. With the first nominated day to be 3rd November, the second to be 7th November and the 3rd to be 10th November?

Right, I have an actual question regarding this tournament.
The idea is to play for three seperate days and submit one round (presumable you don't mind if we start many, just submit one) per day and the toals get added at the end. Fine. But what is to stop players keeping back rounds for other days? EG, on "day 1" (or before) I go three rounds and shoot +4, +6, +5. On "day 2" I shoot a +9, +14 and think, fook it, I'll just send the +5 from "Day 1".

Nothing to stop you doing that at all Moo. All I want is 3 different cards submitted, one on each of 3 different days. You don't have to play on the day, the card needs submitting, or sending a card early. I'm just trying to:
1. Cut down on the cards I process. 2. Keep an element of surprise for each rounds results. 3. Cater for everyone, as I know that there are days you can't all play, so play before and hold back a card for a particular round if you wish.
The way and how much you play is up to you. Short of having players meet up and play as twosomes to ensure some sort of control, I cannot control how many times you attempt a course before submitting a card.
The thing is you don't know who or what you are trying to beat to win each round. But; you will know the results of each round and potentially what you are up against to win the overall prize.
PS. I had thought about that problem and decided that it would cause me too much trouble trying to combat it to bother/worry about it.

OK, so basically we could do a full day sesh on the course when you announce it and then just tie a knot in our hankie to remember to send in a card. Cool. :thumb:
