Announcements are starting to come in about the latest iteration of game that brought us all together. No, not naked Twister; Football Manager. Rumours are it'll be out in November. FM2009 is starting to leak out, thusly; =============================== FM 2009 New FeaturesThese are only SOME of the features known so far, as released in the videos the post below this one. There will be many more in weeks to come. - 3D Match Experience: A work in progress for 3 years apparently, this year will see the debut of the 3D match engine in FM. You will still be able to choose 2D if you prefer however. Miles himself said that he found himself flicking back and forth between both of them throughout a game. - Timeline bar added during match play, so you can rewind stuff at will etc. - Assistant manager feedback during a game, (someone to tell Moo what to do), on motivation, (player's motivation during a match), and general feedback like how your tactics are working, how the opposition are exploiting your tactics, or how you could be exploiting their tactics. - A new "regen/newgen" system, after the many problems in previous FMs. This will hopefully fix the issue where the skills of the majority of new players deteriorate drastically over time in previous versions. - Trial days, where you get invited to court to watch Joey Barton. Or to stand in a field watching a bunch of other people's cast offs, available on a free. - New transfer system. Transfer rumours section too. They rewrote the system from scratch, and "hopefully you'll see the game predicting more real life transfers". - Press conferences are in the game, and happen before and after matches and when you first get a job. - Option to ask players to learn special moves (aka preferred moves). - You can play as a female manager! - The whole confidence system has been improved drastically. Squad harmony and stature also added into that. - Spent a lot of time working on the financial areas, to try and model them more correctly to real life. - Widescreen support. =============================== Screenshots3d Match Engine. Press Conference Trial Days Coaching Players ======================== They're also releasing information through youtube and, apparently, a lot of the work for 09 has been on fixing the bugs that they didn't kill in two patches enhancement packs in 08. Considering the fun I had with 06, 08 didn't reall grab me, even after I made a Divots team and put Kate Garraway in a nurse's outfit. It'll be interesting to see if another layer of aesthetic gloss is really what the game needs. Still... female managers!

I'm still struggling to take a team from the depths of the playable English leagues to the Prem. So far I've done the usual straight promotions and have currently taken up residence in CC1. It's been a slog though, I should say, and it's not made me want to crank it up and tear through the seasons like previous version have.
Your right Stu, 06 was far the better game than 08. 01/02 even more so, and as such, have considered buying a laptop from that era to play it on. And other games from that era.

You can still play 01/02 on XP, and I think on Vista as well.
I had a reasonable amount of fun on 07 (with Bedford and Gateshead) before getting bored, haven't touched 08 at all. I know my PC won't be able to cope with 09, but it looks half-decent. Always beware the "new systems built from scratch", though - it'll be full of bugs.

Unlike the current transfer system which was/is fantastic.
MV once stated that they won't have 3D before it can be made to look realistic and believable. What a liar.

MV power and influence has been on the wane for a while.
'07 was alright, too easy though and the transfer market was screwed - players moving constantly back and forth between the same two clubs. Bizarre German clubs willing to loan off their star players year on year for nothing...but refuse to sell them for lots of cash. Meh.

I don't think the Summon Moo card works when he's in Birmingham. I died a little inside the day my hdd and 06 St Albans save collapsed.

I'm still annoyed at that too. What a wanker that bloke was. He's lucky that, as mentioned in the Micah Hyde is a twat thread, I'm not one to bear a grudge.

I don't think WWW had anything to do with deleting my Chita thread, but as he's Welsh I'm prepared to listen to any additinal reasons why I should think he's a cock.

I don't think WWW had anything to do with deleting my Chita thread, but as he's Welsh I'm prepared to listen to any additinal reasons why I should think he's a cock. Ah. In short - Brighton has MSN. Ian has MSN. You'd all called Ian a c0ck. Ian put on his twat hat and went to see Brighton. The "clique" element of GRD (i.e. a bunch of people who had a private forum for their own ramblings etc which Ian didn't have) isolated TD's latest "Mod" and he had an extended moan and bitch about you guys to everybody (including me, except I was AFK in the US at the time) to try and gauge support for his revolution. I know Beckham told him to get knotted Ofcourse, Herr Brighton hated you guys anyway. And me. Well, "feared" me and hated you guys - or some variance thereof - and didn't need much more provoking, which is pretty much when it all started ticking over. Mark was on about his "redevelopment" of the main website for about 6 years, same with the forum, but had been put of it by the dedication, hard work, and rugged good looks of yours truly. Or to be exact I said "Don't be a cock, and tell Brighton to leave it alone, you know what he's like. As does your sister." Or some such familial relation. Anyway - at some point I kicked off about small changes, little amendments here and there, the creeping mania of a Dutch rollerskating paedophile and the unwillingness of people to stand up to the lemmings he'd appointed in senior positions. Ian volunteered to "Admin" and Brighton gave him the job in a concession to "TTH" and Me, seeing as Beckham and the mods did fook all (none of them my choice, or indeed influence otherwise I'd have sacked the fooking lot). I don't think any of you had access to the developers forum? Hosted seperately if I recall. Shenanigans took place (Ian had access for his offer to help re-do the tactics section), I was AFK, and when I got back 2 weeks later or so Meej was being banned for sarcasm and the rest of you were getting chucked out for being associated with Meej. Developers forum was full of bollocks between Mark, Brighton, Ian, Osiris (Spaniard I think, who said he'd have Meej's babies) and unfortunately I missed out on it. Lots of cut and paste of your lots nasty attitudes towards plebs. Y'know, shit stirring. But yes - Ian was involved in that one a bit. Ian meanwhile was on TD claiming he saved TTH from the machinations of a psychotic Dutchie. Which he did. Over the bodies of his comrades. Well, Grass Roots.

Ah, but the great Chita deletion was separate from the death knell GR. It was Brighton claiming the thread hadn't been worked on for four weeks, (I was in Canada for the middle two of those), and so he deleted it.
This was way before we had our own forum, because GR was our forum.
I remember the rise of Ian, being a cock though.
Still, at least their website is still going strong and all that. Just a forum now, isn't it? If I remember rightly, our very own elth is one of the major post boosters over there.

So I must have missed it

Nah, it was a separate and unprovoked attacked on my thread alone. Possibly because it was filled with pictures of mice wearing crash helmets, small boys with no teeth holding up pennies and the word "yesterday."
Either that or he didn't like the fact I'd bought Emile Heskey.

He calls himself Ian. It's funny how everyone refers to WWW now as Ian I remember getting banned for calling him so. It was funny, as people didn't know why I was banned. My banning, it looked spiteful. No guess as to who did it.

Hard to believe that Harold Bishop is still there. Are we to presume that this means he isn't an alias after all.
