Maybe in person you deserve exaltation. Try wearing one of stu's ingoty hats, nothing spells "exalt" like stu's hats.
Except Moo's toes, I am told.

I could bring my gardening hat. But I don't think enough ingots were used to make it worth exalting.

On the other hands, an ingoty hat could be invaluable if all ends up in smitingland.
Bet there's not a hatmaker one hundred nautical miles around, Coll sounds like a "bring your own hat" sort of place.
How do you make it from Glasgow to Oban? One that does not involve a plane piloted by one of Pops neighbours, preferably.

If you flew to Newcastle maybe Moo could pick you up and take you there, and If I was going, which is unlikely to be honest, I could pick you up at Liverpool airport along with DC in St Helens en-route.
I think Pops has mentioned there's a plane operates between Oban and Glasgow.
Otherwise I think a train would operate between Glasgow and Oban, though them buggers tend to be expensive.

No plane yet from Glasgow to Oban, though may be by this autumn. Usual way is car or train. Train costs about £30 return and is a very scenic route.
Only slight thing is you need to get on the right bit as the train splits halfway up and half of it goes to Fort William, half to Oban.
You don't want to be going to Fort William...

Out of interest, what's the charge for cars on the ferry Pops?
Is the £20 ferry fee you mention, a return fee or one way?

Thinking about it, I will have my PC, the old PC (current one) which I am passing to the kids, and the wifely one will have a laptop by then.
So that's three pcs for starters.

Ouch, though if there were 4 in a car, it's nearly economical.

I'm very much a provisional "yes" here. I don't know how - maybe I'd go to see Moo the night before, or something, and I'm not sure what I'd do about a PC (maybe I could borrow a laptop from someone here), but I'd love to come.

If you flew to Newcastle maybe Moo could pick you up and take you there That would obviously depend on Moo having a car by then.

DC - I'm not sure if tee-total Midlanders are invited....... Sounds like a challenge. Providing we have a good stock of greasy food, I'll drink til the barmaid looks fit.

I have a car now, apparently, it's waiting for me when I get home. Not sure if I would trust it to go up to Pops' house, to be honest, but then I'm a little sceptical about cars in general at the moment.
If the Hairy One was able to get to Newcastle, I would be glad to take him to Oban. He could give me English lessons.

I like that the advert on this page is for some sort of christian fellowship. Divots IV is clearly some sort of pilgrimage.

I'll drink til the barmaid looks fit. According to some divots, that would be two pints then. Oh and you'd better ask Pops what time the chippy and burger van shut.

The deal with the barrel is a good one. When I went stalking with the guys last year, there was several of us drinking hard (admittedly jumping from beer to malt at the earliest opportunity) and the barrel just lasted the three nights. It's a powerful brew too.
I will of course make some special home brew for the occasion, should it come to pass.
