This weekend, I have been mostly watching the Ovalball World Cup.
I can't decide which result was more of a shock. The All Blacks are a much better side than Australia, but England are much worse than France. They honestly haven't had a single decent performance in a fraction under four years.
Fingers crossed for Scotchland on the morrow.
G'WAN THE HEMISPHERE!

Weekend blow-out. Home by 22:00 after my hijacked birthday plans went all Ray Harford. So, fried egg sandwich and a cup of tea it is.

That was disgraceful by the ENglish and French teams. DOn't they know they were the teams that were meant to eliminated? Shocking :moop:

Well Sunday lunch went well, I have to say it was a great way to eat a Sunday Dinner, trundling along at 15mph on a steam train, watching the world go by. The food was damned good too.

The New Zealand Herald, the Monday after the tournament opener:
The Australian, Saturday morning:
"I want you to get a plate. And your words. And a knife and fork... you're going to eat your words, that's what I'm trying to say."

Aye, it's probably a bit rough for the home of The Stun to poke other people about their newspapers. But they're Australian, so it's ok.

But they're Australian, so it's ok. Or near enough as makes no difference. "New Zealand, the place where The Lord Of The Rings movies were filmed. Or, as it's known to the people who live there - "The place where The Lord Of The Rings movies were filmed."

The Australians do have a nice line on New Zealand. I remember one Aussie cricketer who said something like "New Zealand is a shit hole of an island" on TV and was told he had to go back on TV and apologise. For his apology he said "I'm have to apologise for calling New Zealand a shit hole of an island. It's actually two islands."

Ok, so it turns out it was Rugby and it was a Welshman, but other than that my story was spot on. Clicky.

Oh and ditching BT as our phone line supplier, the bostords have charged us £7.50 for a late payment, they sent the bills including the red one when we were on holiday.
They refuse to back down so they've lost our business. A letter of complaint will be composed and sent through the appropriate channels.

This weekend I'll mostly be on-call for work. I'm sure that should mean I'm due workdays in lieu, but we don't have a Union - so what do I know?

Friday I had a dinner drinks thing with a group of people from work. I did the drinks thing before dinner with a good friend from work, then the dinner thing at a pub/resturant(spell check is crap and so is my brain atthe moment) at a German pub where I drunk a stine, then off to a -5 bar for a drink in an icebar which wasn't as cold as it sounds(I know, they gave me a dodgy jacket) for a drink of something with vodka in it. Good night that. Saturday I saw a band called the Young And Restless, and they were reallly good live. So many hot chicks in the crowd, it was great, and for me, they have one of the best songs released this year in Police Police, which has an awesome bassline that is soooo danceable... If you can, check 'em out! It was also good that it only took me 30-40mins to walk to and from the venue home, which is awesome It meant I could drink and not have to go turkey style. Saturday also involved going around furniture stores, mostly antique ones, and though I seen lots of things I like, the prices put me off. Antiques = stupid money, nice pieces of furniture though some of it is. Sigh. Sunday. Maybe some making of music. I really wanted to say magic instead of music :cab: I guess that shows how I feel about music, and hoping to make something good. I wish I knew a drummer. Other than that, maybe a pair of shoes and jeans? Maybe. Depending on the time I get up, and if I want a piece of furniture more. It's been a good weekend so far, and I feel good about how I've kept my place clean too, and how my room is too. Not that you needed to know this, though it is how I fell about today, on top of just having a great time seeing Young And Restless. And currently, Busta Rhymes's Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See is really going down well. It's been a good weekend so far
