Moo's good at off-roading.
As my lawn will attest.

Luckily I travel up the A19 and through the Tyne Tunnel. Mind you, I know a lot of people who travel the other way.

Nice one Moo. I wasn't sure if you joined the A1 somewhere north of the Tyne.

I drove through a snow storm on Wednesday. It was like the old Star field screen saver on Windows. (I mention again). Which can be a bit distracting. Luckily it's the law that you have to have winter tires during the Winter over here so that helped (although they didn't stop me nearly sliding off the road the last time it was a bit icy here (November). All my logical thinking (pump the breaks, turn the steering wheel into the direction of the slide (thanks Hudson Hornet)) went out the window in a general fug of "OOOOH FUCK! I'M GOING TO GO OFF THE ROAD! SHIIIIIT!" and general doing fuck all to actually right the situation. Which is probably just as well as I ended up alright.

The last time I was in a situation like that Nark, was back in Febuary 1985, I was going sideways down the M5, the steering was useless as the road was just too slippy, until the car slid under a bridge where it was dry, the driving wheels hit firm ground and propelled the car into the concrete central barrier, the car turned 180 degrees and hit a snow drft that had built up on the hard shoulder. The cause of the skid? A blowout of the nearside front tyre, well that's what the police guessed at. Thankfully I was only doing 40mph. The car was a right off though no other cars were involved. I was glad that the concrete central barrier held up as there was a 30 foot drop on the other side.
