Ouch, that last one was a painful update, even with the win. You seem to like General Error, and he seems to like coming back. That can't be a bad thing. How many games do you have left in the season?
My best transfer like that was in FM05 when I sold Forrsell to Man Utd for £50M. Literally a week later he was back at my club for just less than £10M. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, though the ensuing spending spree was fun :cab:

I think that's nine games left, Sonic, I can't recall exactly, as I was far too depressed to take any notice. The worrying news is that Plastic Fantastic, our Columbian right winger is refusing to sign a new contract, so it looks like he'll be off in the summer for nowt. I don't think I paid a lot for him, but that's beside the point, he's worth a lot of money and is a great player to have in your side. This whole season is becoming an anti-climax, to be honest, but I know it's a "long haul" job, so I'll probably mothball the save in the summer and go back. I like the idea of rebuilding these lot but I don't think I have the energy for it at the moment.

I know the feeling about rebuilding and this is why I left the Polish Piast side. The summer I was leaving I had 3 top class youngsters coming off contracts and they are all now in top class sides worth big money. Half the squad got sold after I left, and half of them were coming up on contract, if not already. Now for the league, the team is paying stupid money but I have to say, they are regulars in Europe, are in top 30 teams in the European club rankings(that could be World) and Poland has a direct qualification spot as well as a 3rd round playoff spot the season after I left. I just couldn't get players in anymore and players were turning down my club for stupid reasons. Still, you've started establlishing your club and it might be easier than some fly-by-night jetsetter who comes up fast. At least you'll be consolidated.

Yes I'm updating, don't be too shocked. :moop: ============================ April 20112nd of the month and a home tie against Makó, we had beaten them 4-3 at their place earlier in the season and they were struggling at the foot of the table. Fortune Cookie’s injury meant we had to put Slack minge in goal and due to nothing else being available, Fortune was on the bench. Kublai Khan also made a rare start on the right wing. On the half hour Gelatine Hankie swung a cross in that caught the wind, their keeper could only get a hand to it and it hit the bar, Picture Exclusive followed up and put it in the empty net. The goal woke the away side up though and they got an equaliser five minutes before the break. Sloppy pass gave the ball away and Kublai Khan just couldn’t get close enough to tackle the left winger. He swung it in and Copied Graphics was beaten to the header. Then they went ahead just after the break with an incisive break away. Annoying, very annoying. It looked like a defeat was on the cards until Plastic Fantastic pounced on a loose ball and ran 40 yards to seal a draw. Hmmm. Féhérvár away next up and Kublai Khan was moved inside Plastic, with Fortune returning and General Error replacing Man With Boobs. Not that I think it will change anything, but you never know. A poor first half led to immediate improvement in the second, a shot from Picture rebounds to General Error to tap in, which is the sort of opportunity I like to see. Picture Exclusive just got the second one, but I was getting a beer so I don’t know what happened. It ended 2-0 to us despite some intense pressure at the end. We stayed in 11th place, 18 points above Makó in 15th and 10 points behind Újpest in 3rd. Diósgyõr were six points in front in 4th, so we could sneak into a TwoBob place if we were lucky. Let’s see, I don’t think we have the form for it, but you never know. Vasas who won the league last year and had a habit of huimping us were up next. We had the chance to try the designed tactic for them, a horrible looking 5-1-3-1 thing that we hoped would mess with their heads. They were currently in second and needed to win to catch leaders Debrecen. It was an awful first half if truth be told, but the silly tactic seemed to be working, they had no chances to speak of, whilst we had two half ones. The second half was no better. No wait, I got that wrong, the away side got a bigger rocket up their collective arses than I gave our lot and they attacked us from the off. The goal they scored was a dubious penalty though which got us going. Flatulent Fox got onto the end of a cross from Fourth In Line to volley home from close range. We sent the crowd into raptures, apparently. We kept the formation the same but conceded late on when we looked tired, a valiant attempt, but we lost 2-1. Another tough game in store for us, away to high flying Diósgyõr and another change of formation, back to our usual 4-4-2. I blinked and missed the home side’s opening goal after two minutes, but I guess we fooked up at the back. I shake my head in the 35th minute after some sloppy midfield play let them in again. We got one back just after, General Error the scorer from close range. We had some hope after changes in the second half when a centre half for the home side was sent off for a pro foul. We had ten minutes to salvage something. Think Of A Number equalised with two minutes to go with a header and we held on for a great point. Last game of the month and another away game, this time Pécs supplied the Bovril. After a cry from help from Man With Boobs, he helped put us two up inside ten minutes, scoring one and putting one on a plate for Picture. He then scored his second on 17 and we were cruising. You wouldn’t be interested in the rest of the game, to be fair, it was us missing sitters.

Aye, not being relegated is always the first thing on my mind, probably because I do seem to be shite at the various incarnations of the game. (Unless i'm playing against DC of course.) Anything else is a bonus and so if I can sneak into top half of the table, I would consider that a success. As you can see, it's tight in the middle there, 4th to 11th seperated by six points, so if I can sneak two wins in the next two games, I could be challenging. I can't recall who they're against either, I probably should have noted that in the last report.
I'm such an assclown sometimes. :cab:

You can get 5 for a win in the Swiss Challenge League if you score 5 or more goals IIRC.

May 2011Four games left and a home tie with ZTE who were in 6th. 11 minutes, Onion Bhaji free kick, Picture header, one up. Back to square one on 22 with some slack defensive play. I hate this game. Although I don’t hate Fortune Cookie, saving a peno in the second half. We then score a second with some bloke scoring when I was talking to Baz on MSN. We deserved it though, obviously. You may have guessed I can’t be arsed with this anymore and I may have had a drink tonight. Ah well. General Error fell over in the box on 81 getting a pen for Chemical Movement to convert and we started to relax a bit, or rather I did. General then scored a screamer just before the whistle and the 4-1 victory we took was a surprise, especially as it took us out of 11th for a change. We leaped up to eighth. Honestly. 4th Ferencvárós Pts 43 8th Motim Pts 39 11th Pécs Pts 38 :cab: OK, I’m sober again, for now. Our next game was at home to almost relegated Sopron, whom we drew 4-4 with earlier in the season. I hoped we could score four again before two difficult finishing games. Indeed, we could relegate them today if we win and Kaposvár win. It was looking bleak for the away side, with Chemical Movement and Man With Boobs scoring in the first 12 minutes. Whilst the home side huffed and puffed through the rest of the second half, their finishing and final approach play was woeful and you could just see their lack of confidence. The nail was in the coffin of this game just before half time, when Man With Boobs was fed by Up Periscope and he jigged around a static defender and placed it in the corner. Sweet. I didn’t want their performance to drop after the break though and they responded to my request, Man With Boobs nodding in his hat trick at the near post after some sterling wing play from Chemical. Again. The rest of the half was a stroll, literally, but we took the points. Oh and four goals. Mystic Moo predicts! Oh and we’re sneaking up to 7th place. Our next game is away to rivals Gyõr in 4th (four points behind) and then at home to Ferencváros in 5th. Good luck with that! The bad news for the team after our win was a pulled hamstring to Fortune Cookie who was now out for the season. Bah! In would come Half Nelson, the Estonian international, with Slack Minge covering from the bench. The first half of the derby was a very tight affair, both sides not getting into the box much, maybe once or twice each with nothing dirtying the gloves of the keeper. A bit of encouragement later and we hoped the second half would be better. It did, Man With Boobs coming close with a shot from the edge of the area. The gee up also seemed to put some bite into the lads, Chemical Movement was uncharacteristically sent off for two fouls, so far the last twenty minutes we were down to ten. However, we had the better of the play playing a 4-4-1 (not really changing anything) and got our records with a fortuitous goal. Picture Exclusive was sacrificed for Lily Glue who on 87 minures p[icked up the ball midway in our half, he beat his man and saw the fleet of foot Plastic Fantastic bursting past Man With Boobs. The defender didn’t know who to pick up, making the wrong choice in the end. Plastic then took a shot, which was too close to the keeper, it rebounded off the keeper, onto Plastic and trickled into the net. Cue the defensive back nine. :checkit: It didn’t work, the home side cam eat us with everything and got the equaliser. The draw meant that we couldn’t get to Gyõr in the league, but could finish as high as 5th and as low as 10th. Our last game at home to Ferencváros was a tricky one, despite our good form. Right back Think Of A Number was suspended, along with Chemical Movement and Flatulent Fox was on international duty. Hmmm. In came Monster Monster to the bench, with Fourth In Line on the left wing and Smillie’s Toothpaste to right back. Man With Boobs opened the scoring against the run of play on 18 minutes after a fierce tackle from Up Periscope and a nice throughball from Plastic Fantastic. Picture Exclusive got a quick second after a swift counter attack two minutes later. We still looked shaky though with the away side having some decent chances, but we went into HT two up. We kept it tight until ten minutes to go when a very dangerous moved prompted me to take the two goal lead if I could, the silly 5-1-3-1 came out and we made some enforced changes due to tiredness. We needed a huge ten minutes against these lot, but conceded after 94 minutes, but it was too late for them and we got a famous victory. So this was the end of the season and here are my thoughts… End of season wrap upGoalkeepersI’ll be honest, Fortune Cookie was okay, but not great. I think that some of his goals were due to an inept defence, but he didn’t help in a lot of occasions. Estonian Half Nelson was more than capable and looked safe enough, so if an offer came in for the Paraguayan, I would sell him and get a Hungarian in on the cheap. Slack Minge was looking like he could grow into something half decent, which was nice for the future. DefendersSenegal international Monster Monster seemed as though he lost his way towards the end of the season, so lost his place. Copied Graphics and Elderly Blue had an old/young relationship going on there and it was doing fine at the end of the season. Think Of A Number and Gelkatine Hankie were the full backs you would always want: great going forward and great coming back. However, there was something still missing. Our goals conceded column showed that we were poor, but I think this was something to do with the tactics we were employing, or maybe just the combination of personnel. I had to work that out, I suppose. MidfieldersFlatulent Fox was young and could only improve, but he seemed like a great purchase at 75k. Up Periscope was keeping him out of the side and whilst he had been our most consistent performer over the course of the season, I felt we could sell him and make a tidy profit off him. He was a foreigner too, which would free up space for maybe Onion Bhaji commanding a permanent right wing place. He had been there at the back end of the season, whilst Plastic Fantastic was moved inside to cover injury. Onion would stay, Plastic less likely to, which would be a shame as he made a difference. He wouldn’t sign a new contract, so who knows where he would be at the start of next season. Lily Glue on the left was a capable replacement for Chemical Movement who again had been great this season. His eleven goals was a great return for hima dn was only behind French Guitarist on effort. The latter seemed to hold things together somehow, but his injury had knacked him a lot. I had no idea how he would recuperate in the summer months. Youngsters Kidnapped Milkman and Technical Support would offer great backup if needed, but DM Master Of Puppets would be in the first team next season, without doubt, he was looking awesome without playing much first team football. That also frightened me. StrikersFinal Chapter hadn’t cut it this season. Man With Boobs had come in and in the last third of the season looked like he wanted to drag us out of the shit. Picture Exclusive ahdn’t been as effective with him, but the results were coming. General Error had done his bit, but hadn’t been given a chance, which is kind of what I wanted – competition for places. Reserve Fookin Shockin wasn’t anymore and was banging them in for the rezzies, hopefully getting a chance in the next season. SummaryWe ended up with a very respectable 6th place despite our earlier hardships. It wasn’t until the last eight games or so that we got into our groove and I’m not entirely sure if that was by luck or design. No matter, the team would need some changes in the summer and I wasn’t sure if I could help them achieve. I have decided to mothball this game and go back to it in a couple of months after I have found some cheat tactics. I mean err… revitalised my batteries. So yes, enjoyable and yet annoying. The team can be built upon, but I am not sure if they cold ever challenge for the title under my leadership, it may take Coffers to get them there. :checkit:

I'm surprised I lasted as long with the update, Sonic, I was never any good at them. But after four seasons I was starting to wain a little, so mid way through the sixth it was becoming a chore, which isn't how the game should be viewed. I'm mothballing with a view to go back to it at some point, but not for a while. I'll still be playing FM, I have a decent Newcastle save in it's third season and we're top of the league with half the season gone (maybe it's 23 or so games gone, I forget) and I have some nice players there, (Guarin, Sivok and Ryan Babel most notably) so I'd like to keep going with that for a couple of seasons. I have also mentioned wanting a Brazilian save, which I started up about two months ago and just left it in a position where I am about to play some games after a couple of game weeks of attempted dealing. I think I have had to sign up three or four greys to make up numbers. In short I'll be playing, just not writing.

Nicely done, Moo ski. 6th is a decent achievement considering you had to spend most of the season farting around trying to get players who would be there next year. Shame you missed out on Europe, but the squad seem pretty strong for next year. Not that we'll know about that, wantaway poof!

As for the interest wane factor, once that happens it's best to leave and start another game, otherwise you just end up bored senseless with the game.
