Before the start of season 31, Bismarck were happy to unveil a new signing in the shape of 25 year old Finnish forward, Tommi Tommo.
Yes it's a silly name.
Still, no one minds his name too much when he scores on his debut, as the Battleships sink hosts Coup de Boule utd 4-0 in the first round of the cup.
Midfielder Henry Komi opened the scoring, but was later forced off with an ankle injury, and then after Tommo had made it 2-0, Paul Aspinwall made it three with a neatly taken penalty.
Danish forward Melker Granbratt added the fourth in the 71st minute.
Winger Dhaumaketu Agarwal-by-the-sea was voted Man of the Match.
We earned a whopping £3,429 for our away day in the cup and we're into round two.
Coup de Boule utd 0-4 Sink the Bismarck Komu (3), Tommo (27), Aspinwall (40), Granbratt (71)

We won 2-0 against a team from level VI. We then face a level V team in the next round. He has four players with TSIs bigger than the total of our entire squad. :sheesh:

Give him a kicking then.

TSI is misleading though. Tommi Tommo only has a TSI of 860, but has "Excellent" scoring. The "T" in TSI stands for total, so a player that's "Inadequate" at everything will have a higher TSI than Tomm/i/o.
So, what I'm saying is, if you lose in round two, you're obviously not trying.

We lost in round one. Drew 1-1 after extra time, despite commanding 67% of the possession over the 120 minutes. We then lost 4-0 on penalties. Bugger. Concentrate on the league, then, lads.

On friday night in sunny Luton, with the first league games just around the corner, the Bismarckians were happy to announce that their training regime had lifted the level of starting keeper Jordan Hilary from Solid to Excellent.
Opinion is divided about whether Bismarck should cash in on Hilary now, or use him to help the team off to a good start towards ensuring another season of survival and then sell him when his skill raises to Formidable.
Season 31 - Game 1 Bismarck opened their second season in the league with a trip to the English Riviera, to face Man Doodles FC in Cornwall. The Doodles are an established side, recently completing their fourth season and the team beat Bismarck twice in season 30, 3-0 and 4-3.
With last years results in mind the Battleships were very happy to complete a surprisingly comfortable 6-0 victory on the road; a result that was especially satisfying, considering the robust nature of the game and the nasty tactics employed by Doodles, who injured three Bismarck players.
The on form Dhaumaketu Argarwal set Bismarck on their way in 10th minute, before Captain Paul Baker doubled the advantage on 14 minutes, with a free kick following a foul on Paul Aspinwall that left the defensive midfielder limping.
Aspinwall was fit enough to extract punishment for the foul in the 25th minute, but this was just after defender Jean Aubrey was flattened by a nasty tackle and had to be stretchered off.
The score was 3-0 at the half in goals, but 11-10 in favour of Bismarck in players, as Doodles' John Dunn earned a red card for "yet another studs-first challenge."
Paul Alan became the third 'Paul' to score for Bismarck on the day, with a close-range tap-in on the hour, before Danish forward Melker Granbratt helped himself to a late double, as the ten man Doodle team tired.
With eight minutes to go, defender Marcin Doros was hacked down and he too had to be stretchered off. Doros and Aubry are both expected to miss four weeks.
Man Doodles 0-6 Sink the Bismarck Argarwal (10), Baker (14), Aspinwall (25), Alan (63), Granbratt (64, 78)

I was beaten 4-2 away to Dutschlager in my first game and I then have the task of trying to get something at home to the team that were relegated into our division. No chance. I see a perfect "P2 L2" record coming. That'll be after the Cup humping on Tuesday evening.

Nice win Stu, but how qill the injuries affect you? The injuries will be annoying, but shouldn't be more than that, unless we get another. We've still got Henry Komu out for a couple of weeks from the cup game, Paul Aspinwall is limping, but playing and now Doros and Aubrey are gone. To be fair, Doros and Aubrey are fringe players, who got into the team thanks to good form, (Doros), and Paul Aspinwall moving to midfield to replace Komu, (Aubrey). Midfielder Stuart Moore can drop back to defence if needs be, now that Argarwal is back form his long term injury of last season, but if we pick up another injury, we may have to sell Jordan Hilary now, promote Rhys MacShimes, (solid), to starting keeper and use the cash to bring in another defender. Thankfully I can rest everyone midweek, as we have one of those cup games again a team about 15 times better than us and then next week we have what looks to be a team a bit younger than Bismarck, so if we can nick a win, we'll be about a third of the way to definitely staying up.

And the team ratings by raw numbers : P Team Score 1 Nikki's Bicci's 122 (1/3/2) 2 Brockham Badgers 115 (2/1/1) 3 Sink the Bismarck 95 (4/2/3) 4 Man Doodles 78 (5/4/4) 5 Leeds City 69 (3/7/5) 6 ging utd 53 (7/5/7) 7 FC Basildon 52 (6/8/6) 8 Suffolk United 50 (8/6/8) That's the total value of the entire squad, the numbers in brackets are the rankings for defence, midfield and attack. So presuming no one buys or sells any players, the top two are pretty much decided, but the Badgers may have the advantage because midfield is king in Hattrick and by having the best attack, the Badgers can turn their midfield creativity into goals. As seen this week when the Badgers beat the Bicci's 2-0. Week 1 Nikki's Bicci's 0-2 BrockhamBadgers ging utd 4-1 Suffolk United Man Doodles 0-6 Sink the Bismarck Leeds City FC 1-0 Basildon
Notice the team with the better midfield won all four games.

Unlikely. I have a slight advantage in midfield, but if I make a chance, then I have the third best attack to throw at their league-leading defence. By contrast, the slightly fewer chances they'll create will pitch their second best attack against my fourth best defence.
That's the fourth best defence before I lost three players to injury too. :moop:
The only real advantage I have is that I currently have the best keeper in the league. If he pops to Formidable before I play the Bicci's at home then I could nick something, but a draw and a loss might be the best I can hope for against them.

I wish I was playing them this weekend, even with the injuries. I'm using "Play it Cool" in the cup tonight, as I've no chance, which means a big midfield bonus this weekend. Against the team with the 7th best midfield in the division. :moop:

And, because I'm bored, here's a look at 800's division. P Team Score 1 Boon's Urban Gorillas 80 (2/1/1) 2 Twist 69 (1/4/3) 3 Suffolk Rovers FC 58 (4/7/2) 4 Essex Town 52 (6/2/5) 5 Norfolk Athletic 52 (7/3/6) 6 Dans Destroyers II 51 (3/5/7) 7 Surrey FC 50 (5/6/4) 8 Northamptonshire County 38 (8/8/8) So 800 should walk the division, as the only team close to him in total value, has a much weaker midfield. In fact, there are only two consistent teams in the division; 800 and Northants, who are consistently shite.

And finally, here's a look at Moo's division, which actually looks very interesting. P Team Score 1 Sunjackals 157 (2/1/1) 2 Phil's Leprechauns 114 (1/5/7) 3 Bulldog Utd 99 (4/3/2) 4 The Good, The Bad and the Beardsley 98 (3/7/6) 5 Uzbekistan United FC 90 (6/2/3) 6 Milburn FC 77 (5/4/8) 7 Dutschlager FC 70 (8/6/4) 8 Allstars 182 68 (7/8/5) The Jackals are obviously the class of the division, but there's some strangely lopsided teams behind them. The Leprechauns are the second rated side based on a very strong defence, but are weak in the middle and woeful up front. Bulldog are a good leap back from the Leps, but have a stronger midfield and front line. The Dogs drew 1-1 with Uzbekistan, thanks to the Eastern-european's better midfield. Moo's team looks like it has just enough to stay up again, right now, but that was damaged by their opening day loss to the 7 team, Dutschlager. A quality forward should be enough for Milburn's middle-of-the-pack midfield to keep the team up. Interesting perhaps, that Moo's division 6 team is actually a little weaker, overall, than 800's division 7 team.

Cheers for that, s1ut.
The Leprechauns finished 2nd last season and the Jackals were relegated into this one, so it'll be between those two. I won't be able to get a decent striker unless I sell my entire squad, which sort of defeats the object. I tried to sell my best defender at the end of last season, but I had no takers. I will try again on Thursday to see if anyone bites, but I really need a decent amount for him, as I'm something like 40k in the red at the moment and a decent striker will cost too much. I might have to just try and stick it out for another season.
But the defeat at the weekend didn't do me any favours, I agree.
