Ladies, As you are no doubt all aware, it's only two months until the start of the NFL season and as is customary, we will be entertaining ourselves by showing how little we know about the sport by means of a fatnasty league. In the past we have been playing a seasonal league, but it was mooted last season to have a keeper league this time where we can retain one player from our current squad for the 07/08 season. The list of each squad is in this thread here about halfway down the page. Note that some of the teams of those players will have changed, as they will have been traded away. Also there is a draft order for the coming season. Anyone who drops out will lose their place, anyone who joins in will fit in before the Stupidbowl contenders. So then, in anticipation of all this, can we have a list of people interested in these shenanigans?

Heh, second draft baby. I'm retaining Peyton as I still don't watch NFL and his name sound gay-ish.

You're all poofs for not accepting my idea. So I'm in.
Tough choice between resurgant Alexander (50/50) or Super Steve Jackson. Gotta be the Stevemeister though. Then again, the Baltimore defence is where it was at most of the year or even David Akers.
If we need extra's then I may have a few persons who'll entertain us with selections.

What idea, DC? Multiple keepers? I would be against it now, because I thought we were only keeping one all through last season and have hired and fired with that in mind. If a two or three player keeper league is what you were wanting, then that should be suggested for season 08/09, so we can draft this season accordingly.
And to be fair, the more I read about it, the more I would prefer two or three keepers. But just not for this season.

I don't know who to keep. I presume an RB is the best option but mine weren't that great. Tiki Barber or Maurice Drew-Jones (seemed to get more play late season)? I'm ruling out Warwick Dunn as he was low on TD's again.
Other options are My QB or the Chicago defence, but the defnce would be silly wouldn't it.
I'll probably keep Drew-Jones, but it's not set in concrete yet.

I suggest you keep Tiki Barber. Probably true, That would mean I'd had him in the squad 3 seasons running and he hasn't really let me down too much so far.

I had him once and he was rubbish for me.

I think Tiki is overrated. You should drop him and draft Barry Sanders instead.

Who the fook is Barry Sanders?

Barber wasn't particularly great last season, steady was the watch word I think.

Yes, I would predict the same.
Barry Sanders was a half decent player from a couple of seasons ago, Coffers.

Barry Sanders retired a while ago, didn't he? When he was playing, though, he was the Detroit Lions. Every play was just "give the ball to Sanders, watch him run". Best runningback at making people miss tackles, ever?

So you mean he's shoite now, and DC wants Tiki Barber? Yes, yes, I want Tiki Barber. And you can have Joe Namath.

I want Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas.
Not Scott Norwood, though.

Barry Sanders was indeed the shit. One of those players in any sport that I'd happily pay to see destroy my team. Those highlights you see of Dante Hall making a defender or two look silly? Barry did that about once a week every week for ten years. BarryIn his penultimate year in college he did this in the Holiday bowl game : Touchdown 1Touchdown 2Touchdown 3Touchdown 4Touchdown 5I especially like number five, where the other team have about 87 players on the defensive line. And he didn't play the fourth quarter.

I had the pleasure of watching several of his games thanks to C4's old NFL show. And anytime they didn't show his actual game, you were guarranteed a 2 minute highlight reel of him making monstrous DE's look like offensive linemen in the agility and speed stakes. Maaarvellous. Sickening how far his legs would actually travel underneath his body whilst his shoulders would remain square, and probably the best shoulder drop ever seen.
Pity the Lionswere shite.

The Lions were shite, aye. A passable offensive line and they thought passing was something that happened to other people. Amusingly, while Barry retired as the league's second leading rusher, ever, he did hold one record - the most yards from scrimmage lost. He lost over eleven hundred yards during his career by running backwards trying to go forwards and then the Lions put him in the backfield with Dave Krieg - the Quarterback who held the record for most fumbles ever. Mildly amusing film : clicky. (It's Real Player :moop:)

Sign me up! I'm already preparing the excuses for why my scientifically-selected and obviously superior team is going to miss the playoffs.
I'm expecting big things from my backfield of Tiki Barber and Richard Madeley, though.
