I think one of the defenders got four interceptions that resulted in TD's and another got 1 Int/TD. But the summary screen doesn't report on those.

The new season starts with a surprise.
No it didn't I lied, we lost the first game as usual at home to Stu's lot Central Florida. We get tonked 6-27 in front of our best home attendances for a long time. 14,500 turn up to watch the debacle. It's a game in which we lose our best Defensive End and seem to suffer for it, as Florida move the ball almost at will. Something QB Kennedy seems to fail spectacularly to do. :moop:

After a couple of seasons of ignoring Stu's advice, trying things for myself ie. accepting the coach recommendations, I finally decide to accept the guru's advice. We win at North Carolina, 27-24 in Overtime, the performance is much better.
For once we are without injuries at this stage. I hope I haven't spoken too soon.

It was about this point of juggling using Stu's suggested methods that I noticed the coaches were picking weaker seniors ahead of talented and better younger players in especially at the Right DE position so in the next game I overrode the coaches choice and we went out and positively humped Middle Tennessee State 34-3, they had plenty of teh ball but we stopped them moving it, In fact they had three minutes more possession than we did.
I felt quietly satisfied after this game, but the real proof of the pudding will be the in conference games.

Next up and we entertain Dubuque who have a tendency to hump us, well they are a conference team. I again make my own calls as to who plays where and we easily beat Dubuque 24-14. Kennedy threw for 285 yards and 3 TD's.
We move to 67th in the rankings by this stage and for once lead the conference table with a 3-1 record, one of the last win being a conference game.
Next up Ball State visit and with Kennedy suffering a concussion from the last game I put Parker ahead of him in the QB stakes. The move plays off as we overturn an early TD setback to recover and win 24-14. Again. We hit the dizzy height sof 53rd in the overall rankings and stay top of the conference rankings.
We have now played out all the Non conference games with a 3-1 record in them. Our overall record is 4-1, but now the season becomes important.

This is why I mentioned you controlling the roster and them the gameplan. The gameplan is fiddly to get into the right area and it's worth spending some time before each game coming up with a rough gameplan and then hitting the scout rec. button to see if they match what you thought or if they're completely different. Then trying to work out why. What I normally do is click the balloon and change to the opposition and look at where they rank for the number of runs and the number of passes and their success at both. (For example, the Redhawks I'm about to play are the #1 passing team in the country, but 89th rushing, so it'll be a lot of low numbers in the defensive gameplan for expecting the run, combined with high blitz numbers to get Drww Rodrigue going.) I then check out the opposition's roster for injuries and tips. I can see that the Redhawks have two good corners, but the drop off after that is immense, so I might drop Cornelius Belanger from the starting role, push Randy Tracey in there and move Belanger to third receiver, where he'll line up against a week corner (I play the One Back system, so I have three receivers on the field all the time). With all this in place I'll draw up a balanced offensive scheme and a pass heavy defensive scheme. I could then get the scout to suggest their plan and see where we overlap. If you do that a few times you start to get a good idea of roughly where you thinking should be for different types of opposition. It's a tricky thing to get right and it's possibly telling that my season collapsed last year when I took over the gameplanning 100% myself.

I'll be leaving those fiddly bits for a long time to come. I think my season could be about to collapse as mt best Pass Rush DE by a street has had back surgey after the last game and is out for the season.

I don't do any of that malarkey. But what slugt says makes sense.
With the players you're pulling in, for the life of me, I can't work out why you aren't doing better. You're getting players in the top ten of their position. I have to win proper, grown-up bowl games before I get players of that calibre. Noticeably they don't seem to be developing a huge amount so maybe you need to look at your time management. Which is always a laugh.

Another home game sees Davenport and the TV crews also make an appearence. Things look bad in the first quarter as we go 14-0 down, the second quarter ends 17-7 in Davenports favour and we start making the come back in quarter three, adding 14 points to our score whereas Davenport replied with three. The 4th quatrer starts with us 21-20 up. Davenport change that with a field goal 2 minutes in. we're struggling but with 5:06 left on the clock we start a drive on our 40, the drive ends with 1:13 minutes left on the clock when Harmon ran off right guard for 3 yards and a touchdown and we have the lead, Preston kicks the extra point. Davenport make a real hash of their next possession and the ball goes over to us on their 33 with 31 seconds remaining, 20 seconds later and Harmon ran around left end for 20 yards and a touchdown. Again the extra point was converted. We ran out 35-23 winners .
Game MVP: CEDR 42 Roderick Harmon.
For the record we have moved up to 44 in the rankings.

With the players you're pulling in, for the life of me, I can't work out why you aren't doing better. . I think I've been relying too much on believing in the coaches. They're fook wits who play injured players. I shall stu's advice as a basis and then make some of my own decisions from now on. The coaches also seem to lean towards the more senior players even if they aren't the best available fo some stupid reason. The only stuff I'll believe of them from now on is the game play settings.

Away at Des Moines we have a really close game with us running out 24-21 winners, though Des Moines didn't close the gap until there was only 1mintue left to play when they managed a TD and Extra Point.
Rovals Fort Dodge came to town next and got the hum, we were without regular kicker Parker and a nuber of Field Goal attempts were missed but we got plenty of scores elsewhere as we strolled to a 35-9 victory.
QB Kennedy made his comeback on the next game at Sioux City and though it was a tough encounter we managed to take the game 34-26. This was our 2nd Televised game of the season.
We are clear at the top of the Conference division with 8-1 record (5-0 conf record), Davenport and Waterloo have both lost a game. Our biggest danger is Waterloo who we are yet to play.
We have moved into 26th place in the overall rankings.

Burlington come to town and it's end to end stuff in teh first quarter we score but not the extra point, they score and can kick, in the 2nd quarter they score again and add the EP, we score and don't add the EP. In the 3rd quarter we land 10 points on them, and in the 4th we hit 18 and they manage 12. I'm happy with the result, a 40-26 win again in front of the cameras and our biggest home attendance under my stewardship, 21,600.
They only sing when we're winning.
Our final game at Waterloo will be the decider, if we win we win the division, if we lose, the Waterloo or possibly Davenport will take the conference. This too is in front of teh TV cameras. Our finaces this season will be nice and rosy.
