The Pats fans won't care that we got White. Yet. And they'll all be far too busy counting how many draft picks they have next year.
What's the max rows Excel holds?

~65k.
Oh, I see what you did there.

How soon should these players come through and play for the first team?

Depends on who they are, Sonic. Some need to start just because they're replacing those who have left or are just plain cack. Some can be developed and expect to start within the year, some will be the 2010 season. The Patriots drafted a WR who won't play 2009 season because he knacked his ACL and they'll just put him on Injured Reserve for the year and ease him back. It's a gamble, but if he does get anywhere near his potential, the "experts" reckon he'll be a hell of a receiver. Some players like Hayward-Bey (drafted by the Raiduhs) will be expected to run very quickly for 16 games and catch a couple of passes once in a while.

I'm surprised Hornet hasn't been in to give us the gen on the Jets trading up to pick Lawrie Sanchez yet.
I was hoping to see the comedy stylings of Kellen Clemens under Center.

I'm sure the Jets have got a personnel strategy, I just can't for the life of me see what it might be.
We're stockpiling ageing, expensive veterans with a good year or two left in them on defence at the same time we're mortgaging the future to bring in a desperately inexperienced young quarterback and depth at the only position that we've currently got two quality players.
If you want to imagine the future, imagine a 7-9 season. Forever.

At least the Jets aren't the Raiders (scant consolation). The Chargers' pick baffled me as well. "We have two of the best OLBs in the game, so what position should we pick? ..."

Horn - me and s1ut were conversing whilst all this was going on and we were a little surprised when we saw Lawrie with a Jets hat on, to be fair. C'mon - you're just playing with us aren't you. Admit it, you're a teensy bit excited.

Hey, if he turns into Carlton "Carson" Palmer, the fact that we only picked three players in this draft won't matter. But the Jets' recent history isn't totally rosy when it comes to guys we traded up to grab. If Sanchez goes full Dewayne Robertson, then on the upside at least we'll have a new GM to screw things up.

Admit it, you're a teensy bit excited. I like what I've seen of and heard from him since the pick. It's just recent history that's making me a bit gunshy. Sorry, Jets. It's not you, it's me. I've been hurt too many times. :moop:

I saw a few of Lawrie's USC games and, to be honest, he didn't look to be as good as Matte Line Art. Take from that what you will.

AN interesting idea from Pat Kirwan, an NFL.com analyst. He's proposing a sort of World Tour to promote the game of football and also to give unattached players the opportunities to show GMs they can still play. Good stuff.

I still think he's perfect for the Pats. Ron likes to drown things. Billy likes to let people have a go on his Jet Ski. Perfect.

We'll let him have a few games when Tom knacks his knee again and then we'll get a 2nd rounder for next year's draft. Apparently we're a bit short on those.

A :humb: for Chad Johnson who wanted to continue his pursuit of his dull alter ego by changing his official name in the NFL to "OCHO CINCO" last season but the league told him he'd have to buy all of the "JOHNSON" jerseys already made so he said he'd leave it for a year.
So this year he gets his wish and gets his new name on his jersey. Sort of.
Turns out he forked the form he had to fill in and wrote both names in the same box, so instead of Ocho Cinco he's now going to be Ochocinco.
So well done there.

And doubly brilliant, "Ocho Cinqo" means "Eight Five" in Spanish, not "Eighty-five".

Someone needs to post the teams from last season's fatnasty competition. If I remember, I'll do it tonight when I get home. If someone beats me to it, I'll exalt them.
