My mate invited me to join a transpennine ale trail as featured as featured on the BBC's Oz and James Drink to Britain, unfortunately I can't make it on the date suggested but it got me thinking that a divot outing could possibly take place along those lines. For those not in the know it's basically a pub crawl to real ale pubs using a train to travel between them. Details of the trail can be found here. www.realaletrail.net/He did it last year and said the pubs listed in Huddersfield and Dewsbury were particularly good. Obviously if this took place we'd probably have to find somewhere to crash for the night so it could be a little more expensive than crashing on someone's floor. But maybe it's something to think about. I guess the main problem might be that there isn't that many UK based divots around these days. The full legnth of the journey is from Stalybridge near Manchester to Batley in Yorkshire, though you can pick and choose your own trail to start and finish anywhere between those two points.

I can savour the taste of the many flavours of coke along the way

Try a different J2O flavour in every pub.

I can actually drink real ale, I just can't stand lager and pish beer. I'd happily join you for a frogmarch cross the Pennines, but the train sounds nicer

Unless I win the lottery and if so, see you next Thursday.
