I'm not fucking kidding. We're currently 3-0-1 (yes, unbeaten) and then the cheating fookers at Sping decide that I need a bout of influenza in the Bills camp. 10 players.
TEN FUCKING PLAYERS!
Sping really are a bunch of cunts.
NB: Yes, I'm well aware Sping don't make the game.

2006 is not exactly going to plan. I anticipated being a lot better than that. The good news is that experts believe they may have worked out where our problem is. :moop:

I'm not sure, Stu, but I think your pass defence needs some work.

So 2006 was just terrible and I think it's telling me that on the top skill level you can't get away with GMing alone, but need to do some depth chart work and probably some game planning as well. Pfft. It started off well, with a divisional win over Chicago and a crushing of eventual AFC Champions New England, but after that it was essentially random as the traffic lights below will show, finishing off with two and three-game losing streaks. Even some of the wins were embarrassing - Atlanta won one game all year, but took us to the wire in Detroit, as we won on a Harrington-to-Fitzgerald touchdown with 12 seconds to play. I can't blame injuries as we had a few annoying nicks during the season - NT Shaun Rogers played most of the year suffering from turf toe - but we didn't have to put a single player on IR. Clearly our pass defence is just not up to snuff, as I can't believe that we can blame things on our Head Coach who is "very good" for defensive play calling. Clearly we have no standouts in the Linebacking crew, (despite my best attempts in the last draft), which probably does cause issues in a 3-4, but by the end of the season the pass defence was being routinely shredded by some very mundane passing attacks. Among the starting back four, the best pass defence ratio belonged to the best player - Andre Dyson - but was only 79%. The two corners who platoon the right side, Newman and Harper finished at 74% and 78% respectively, while the Safeties, Scott and Doering were at 75% and 73%. I snapped up Doering because of his ridiculously high cover ability for a Safety, but his inability to actually read the game is clearly hurting him. Newman and Harper are physical corners who help in run support, but both need to be better at actually defending the pass. I need to find someone who can make an impact back there and a genuinely talented linebacker to play in front of them, so that the smear of averageness I have there now can rotate in and out and make sure everyone's rested and healthy, which will see them play closer to the top of their limited ability. Got to the end of season and the scout I'd hired last year who had a few "Very Goods" and was generally a step up on the Good-Good-Good guy I had before has slipped backwards to become a Good-Good-Good guy himself. :moop:
So even though he has a couple years left on his contract I've bid on another Scout. Better still he was the Packers' scout, so if I sign him not only do I improve, but a divisional rival has to find a replacement.
Sadly though it seems I may lose my Offensive Co-ordinator, as the team's owners are just not prepared to match what he's asking for, for his new contract. I've bid as much as I can - about $80,000 under a year for three years - and I'll cross my fingers.

Bad news : Arizona signed the Green Bay guy. Good news : my OC resigned. Good news : The scout I finally did manage to sign was from the Vikings, so I stuck it to one of my division foes after all. Here's the top of the 2007 draft. Maybe I'll take Ted Ginn. :cab: Either of the corners or any of the linebackers will do. As per.

7-9, so you're picking around #16? So you're looking at Houston or Poluszny then? It's unlikely Beason or Ross will drop, do you think?
In related news, who the fook is Kenton Keith?

Just googled him and he'd be perfect for Detroit, IMO.

He was a guy who rushed for a billion yards in Canada, got a chance with the Colts and did a reasonable job. For which he was cut and never made it back into the league. I think he fooked off back to mooseland.

Well Seattle like Kenton Keith. Jamarcus went #1 overall, which went so well for Oakland in real life. Speaking of Oakland, they pick #6 overall, then trade away all of their cookies to get the #7 overall so they can get their hands on superstar... Selvin Young. What?Young was an undrafted free agent in the real 2007 who got to try being the latest star of Denver's blocking system and then was out of the league two years later and still hasn't found a new team. This game has him rated as a 51/68. :cab: Oakland's other pick, Patrick Willis is rated as the best real life pick from 2007 and is a 61/66 here. So that's probably a decent bit of business for the Raiduhs. Clearly Al Davis is dead in this game. I think I'm going to pick Chris Houston, because I need to keep throwing bodies into my secondary to hope that some of them know how to get in the way of the ball. Although Tedd Ginn Jnrr is still there...

I then talked myself out of Houston immediately and went for Laron Landry instead... lured by his red numbers at the combine. Cleveland took Brady Quinn... again.
