I've just read an NFL.com story on that, it's very disrespectful. And, it's also adding fuel to Ray's fire, like he needs any. Yeah, they ought to be careful or Ray-Ray will be getting lost in coverage and trailing three yards behind running backs MORE.

Shush, we're being respectful.
I certainly don't agree with the spread being 9.5pts mind you. THat's too many.

Patriots will win easily. Brady's no half crippled pansy 'fraid of the cold like Manning.

Don't take this the wrong way, Moo, but thank fuck for that. Now I have someone to root for in the Soup Bowl.

Oh New England. ![](http://i.imgur.com/LvApi.jpg) That just became this : ![](http://i.imgur.com/tXQixyF.jpg) After the 19-0 trademark nonsense you'd think they'd learn.

You sure would. I went to bed at half time as it was 1am, but I just knew that we weren't playing well and it was up in the air. I have just seen the highlights on NFL.com and it looks like we just didn't get out of the locker room. The Ravens deserved the win, they wanted it more, no doubt about it. It hurts though. Also listening to the highlights, I don't think that Rich Eisen could have creamed himself anymore at the Patriots loss. He's now being deleted from my podcast list. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Alsoalso, can someone explain how the Pollard hit on Ridley wasn't a penalty? Alsoalsoalso, the Superbowl at my house is going to be shit, neither me or The Bairn have anyone to root for. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) I'll just have to get smashed.

Because he dropped his shoulder and Ridley drove his own helmet into Pollard? Although usually any hit on any Patriot results in a roughing the passer penalty, so I was a bit surprised.
After that play the refs were picking through the scramble for theball and I said to the room "I realise it's a fumble, but I think that guy's dead." I was happy to see him raise his hand, even if he couldn't remember his own name.
As for what happened in the second half - I think the Ravens tied up Jim Caldwell and put him in a cupboard, because they stopped running every other down and just decided to throw it against a team with bad pass defence and their best corner on the sideline.

When Talib went off, I feared the worst but didnt see it in the first half. Nice to see Baltimore saw what I did.
I'll have to have another look at the hit on Ridley, I've only seen it once and I guess I was swayed towards the end result a bit. THere was a big hit by Mayo too, wasn't there? Would that be a similar thing?
I know this might be jumping the gun a bit, but I can only see one more season in Brady.

![](http://i.imgur.com/ykpFikF.gif) If you do the Zapruder-level analysis, you can see that by frame 5 of the .gif Pollard's helmet is already below Ridley's shoulder level and then Ridley dips to hit him. If the runningback hits you in the head it shouldn't be a penalty against you. Even if you are Bernard Pollard. ![](http://i.imgur.com/dMLIkRc.png)

I suppose if you're Ridley, you're dropping your shoulder expecting to get wrapped up, not getting someone's helmet in your noggin. Fair enough.

I think there's a cause there to call helmet-to-helmet on the offensive player except for who am I kidding? Pollard looked like he didn't come out of it too well either. This, meanwhile, was a great hit. ![](http://i.imgur.com/OZFGuOY.gif) Except Pitta caught a touchdown on the very next play.

The rules for hitting a runner are different to the rules for hitting a quarterback or a player who's in the act of catching the ball. If you're a ball carrier you're assumed to be able to look after yourself to a degree so unless the defender is actively using his helmet as a weapon they don't get flagged for stuff that's 15 yards every time if you're doing it to a helpless receiver.

I know this might be jumping the gun a bit, but I can only see one more season in Brady. He'll play until he's 40. New England really, really need to fix that defense. You can't be giving up 25 points on a regular basis and expect to be in the big game, even if you have the best offense in the NFL. But, y'know, don't get me wrong. I'm happy if they don't. Kinda torn in the Super Bowl - the Kaepernick hype annoys me, but does it annoy me more than the Ray Lewis hype? I really, really wanted the Falcons to get there this season.

It's a close thing, but to me hype for a good young player is more tolerable than hype for a veteran player who's dangerously close to replacement level. And who might have stabbed a guy that time.
Bold prediction for 2013: Neither Colin Kaepernick nor Russell Wilson look as good when teams have a) got more film on them and b) start playing the option in a way that forces them to run and get knocked around by inside linebackers.

Elth - I'm not so sure. Although I probably should have said "one more good year". I too wanted Atlanta there.
Horn - I feel the same way.

Elth - I'm not so sure. Although I probably should have said "one more good year". I too wanted Atlanta there. Hey, if Manning can play with half an arm and a steel pole for a spine, I reckon Brady can find a few more years. I think I'm gonna lean toward the Ravens. Flacco's had just enough "you can't with a Super Bowl with Joe Flacco" stories written than it will entertain me to see the blowhards throwing their bandwagons into reverse.

The Patriots scored almost 600 points this year. It might be a bit early to start writing them off, unless Bill's hubris leads to them letting Welker go, because then their wide receivers would be worse than their secondary.
So long as they don't ditch Welker and then steal Bess from us. I don't want the Dolphins to turn into a farm team for Patriot seam receivers.
Mike Wallace is a FA this year - go pick on Pittsburgh.

We better keep Welker, I just bought his jersey.
In other news, we won't go for Mike Wallace, he'll want too much money and we don't do that.
