Aye, but Souness is also shit. And, you lot have had so many injuries that if you get someone in who can actually keep them fit, you might have a half-decent side...

Rather like Hornet's stories when he's losing Moo is much more entertaining when things are going badly for Newcastle. (ie most of the time, apparently).

OK, I bet Allardyce gets Newcastle to finish higher than the 13th Roeder managed this year... I might even be tempted to bet on a WAFER cup spot, but I'll save that for next year.
Top 10 this year, Wafer next year. You'd be happy with that, wouldn't you?

I'll be happy with that as long as we beat them and finish above them.

Unfortunately for Fat Sam, Newcastle have wrecked the reputations/careers of many a respected manager.

Robson did well over there recently. Dalglish not so well, I guess, and I can't really remember any other "respected" managers there in the last few years.

Boony, I wouldn't be happy with that, no, because I don't want him as the manager of my football club.
Whilst I applaude the notion of Mr Shepherd giving a high profile job in the English leagues to a British man, I really don't like the appointment of Mr Allardyce. I keep seeing how fantastic an appointment it will be, seeing how fantastic a job he has done at Bolton, the ideals and techniques he has brought into an unfashionable club, being able to get the best out of aging and unwanted players, most brought into Bolton Wanderers FC on a pittance of a transfer fund.... all very well.
However, this does not mean I have to think it a good appointment or give my backing to a man I really can not like. Too much shadiness IMO about the whole Panorama bungs programme, even though I think the way the Beeb went about it was very cack-handed, he didn't come out of it smelling of roses. his son no longer does what he did, even Kevin Bond who was less implicated than Mr Allardyce was had to be sacked by the Newcastle United board because of the thought of anything like that being connected to the club.
How times change, Mr Shepherd.
The football produced by Bolton Wanderers was effective. Certainly not pretty to watch, but effective. If you are a football fan, you can only admire what comes out of Old Trafford and The Emirates Stadium, whilst wave a leafy branch at Stamford Bridge and their apparent brand which is deemed in the "not that exciting" bracket.
To reply to your statement though, Boony, I have no doubt that we will finish higher than 13th next season, much like i have no doubt we will do that every year. However, Roeder should never have been appointed manager of a club of the (apparent) stature of Newcastle United. He was way out of his depth. As much as I liked his opinions and thoughts and his admiration within the coaching ranks of his coaching ability, he is a coach, nothing else. He should never have been offered the job, in all fairness, i don't blame him for taking it; I can't see how anyone in their right minds would not have done the same thing in his position.
What baffles me though is that three years ago, when Sir Bobby was fired, Mr Allardyce was offered the job and apparently refused it. Closer to the truth is that Mr Shepherd baulked at the quoted £2M compensation that Bolton wanted and thought it was better put to use to nab Graeme Souness. The humming and harring from Mr Shepherd is why Mr Allardyce said "No", in my opinion. So why now is Mr Shepherd prepared to pay the quoted £5M to Bolton, as well as giving Mr Allardyce £3M per year on a four year contract? Has he really shown anything more than we knew already about him? Not in my opinion.
I'm sure more ranting will appear once you lot star the taunting.

Nice rant.
Fat Sam, eh? Can't say I enjoy his Boltonisms- overpaid, over the hill foreign journeymen for the most part and any man who gives employment as a 'footballer' to Elajoof and Anelka in the same team has more than one screw loose.
Soz, moo.
I'm sure he'll do a job for them, but with this appointment Newcastle are kind of admitting that they are one of the rest.

They are, Pops. Whilst the two names put forward for the cITEH job, so far, are van Gaal and Koeman.
Doesn't look like "one of the rest" talk there.

Do you think they still have bad memories of Gullit?

Maybe so, but that should't matter. Have you ever bought shoes that hurt your feet? Do you still wear shoes?
Ooooh... new game.... what sort of shoe is your club's manager?
Newcastle - is there a shoe called a fat cunt?

Post by Moo on May 15, 2007 13:16:40 GMT
Oh and err.... Gullit hadn't managed for that long really. he also said himself that he vastly underestimated what a club like Newcastle was like.
Van Gaal wouldn't have that problem. If he is available, or looking for an opportunity to get out of AZ Alkmaar, then I'll not be in a very good fettle.

Because we'll all be dead by then.

I'll support my club to the end, Mr Allardyce will get nothing of the sort. He might get the odd compliment, but support, no.
And it would need an active summer to get us anywhere near 7th place next season. We're a long way short of acheiving anything in the league.

I'd like to join most other Ipswich fans in saying that we've no idea what shoes we've got at the moment.
Back at the start of the season, it looked a lot like we'd put the boxes on our feet by mistake and then in winter, maybe we'd accidentally strapped the metal foot sizers on.
But then it turned out we probably actually were wearing shoes and the more we've looked at our feet and wiggled our toes, the more me like the shoes.
Sadly, it seems someone from Northern Ireland is about to show up and shout "what are you doing wearing my shoes!?"
