Right so I asked the question to the consultant if I was allowed to play some football and badminton and I got this answer from his secretary:
"Yes you are allowed to do contact sports again, providing you wear those goggles like what that footballer from Holland wears".
I am Edgar Davids II.
I've also been cleared to do a parachute jump for my 40th birthday next May. But ssshhhhhh... I haven't organised that yet. And I may be asking for charitable donations, so be warned.

Parachute jumps just make me think of Bane now.
Can you wear a muzzle too?

I did a parachute jump for charity when I was 18 - they didn't strap you to some fella in those days, they just pushed you out of an airplane. They usually remembered to hand you a chute first.
I haven't done another one, with good reason.
Good luck Moo!

I guess as it's my first time, I'm going to have the pleasure of another man strapped to my back.
But no matter, I'll be Edgar Davids!

Update: Parachute jump hit a bit of a hurdle, but I hope that to be resolved this week.
Yes, I know, if I'm hitting hurdles, I'm probably doing it wrong.
Also, in related news, I have an infection in both eyes. Apparently it;s pretty aggressive and the bacteria can cause rejection of corneal grafts if not treated properly.
No pressure then.

After a couple of years of no significant knee trouble, I take a 3" shuffle to the right in the office on Monday and find myself heading to the floor.
Don't know what I've done, I suspect just aggravated the tendons / ligaments / cartilage because I currently sound like bag of pegs being shook.
And then I go and forget my bloodypainkillers, so today is going to be fun.

That's some bad news, Dave, hope all goes well there. When are you off to the docs to get it checked?
Puts me to shame, really.

Bollocks to doctors, I'm just manning it up.
Meanwhile I am milking it at work. Frothy coffees, food delivered, and painkillers on tap.

Sorry to sound like a big poof here, but I think if it sounded like someone grinding pine cones together when I walked, I suppose I would go see a quack.
In other news, as I am having to wear my glasses all the time now (drops don't allow me to wear contacts), I'm getting a lot of headaches and I'm feeling nauseous from about 2pm every day. But apart from that, everything's rosy.
P.S. Dave - go see a doc.

Yeah. What he said. Manning it up is fine until your leg falls off. Don't come running to me, then.
That's a blow, Moo. I mean the headaches and nauseaity. Not a permanent affliction, mehopes.

I got glasses for the first time in years a month ago, I was served by our own Baz.
the missues just ordered some new ones too because her old ones are sending her daft.
I have an appointment with the usual knee rehab clinic. Not Dr Stedman, but has dealt with me before. My GP is neither use nor ornament with this stuff, I was wrote off as a chronic knee degradation case 17 years ago. Something long like chondramalacia patellae, or "hurty knee".
Meanwhile I am out of drugs and had the unpleasant burning / itching sensation behind my kneecap of yesteryore.

Eye update - surgeon gets back from holiday in Brazil on Monday, hopefully I will get the all clear for the jump then. In related news, these meds I have for the infection are giving me grief. Nausea, joint pain, headaches... I looked into one of them, Doxycycline and apparently they use that to treat malaria amongst other things. Now I know they said they needed to treat the infection aggressively, but sheesh... should I be concerned?
