Doxy is a major anti-malarial. Very popular as an antibiotic overseas too. Among other things, it affects skin resilience and makes some people massively oversensitive to sunlight.
Good job you're in Moocastle....
Yeech.

I think any time you're taking a drug that has been used as a plot point on House, you probably should be a little bit concerned...
Good luck biffing the bacteria!

I'm too scared to look at that link, Elth. THe good news is that my last pill is Tuesday, so I hope to be feeling better towards the end of the week.

Update: I feel a lot better now I'm not on those pills and meds and such. I go to the hospital on MOnday for a check up. If I get more pills, I'll be annoyed, but TBH I'm expecting it. 40th birthday party is being held on 25th, we have a casino night booked at my local, a Roulette table and Blackjack table. There will be pictures of me looking like an idiot, I'm sure. I have the skydive booked for Monday 27th, a day before my 40th, so I can't get too smashed on the Saturday, as it takes me ages to feel better after a session now. After being told by the hospital that they would give me logos for my justgiving page and paper sponsorship forms, the board of trustees for the charity wouldn't endorse it because of a risk of accident. Obviously, nobody has turned an ankle or a knee running the Great North Run. So I'm still doing it, just unofficially. If anyone would like to donate, they can and I would appreciate it. Linky linkyIf you could also put in the comments section that it is for me and the skydive, that would be great. I am getting the dive videoed, so if you would rather wait until you see a wet patch around my crotchy area, then you can.

Had my appendix out last night.
Hospitals are definitely *not* fun.

I think I'm ok. Still hurts but nothing too bad. Just came on really fast yesterday - started hurting around midday, was in hospital by 6pm, under the knife by about 9:30pm or so. Which was nice.
Never felt pain like that before, though. Morphine's quite nice.

Holy crap. Did they think it was going to pop? I guess they must have if they took you straight to surgery.
So what's the craic now then? In hospital for long?

They basically had the choice of going straight away, or waiting 24 hours for the theatre to free up again. Because the pain was so severe, the surgeon didn't see any point in waiting given they had the space. I'm out and home already, actually. They can do appendixes with keyhole surgery these days, and I recovered really fast so they were happy to let me go. Just have to watch what I eat and get plenty of fluids for the next ten days or so. And no heavy lifting for a month, which is perfect because I move house in a fortnight

I hear those cups of tea are heavy too, so you'll need a nursemaid for sure.

Had awful toothache all through last night, went to the dentist and she pulled it out straight away. It was pretty much gone anyway and was causing an infection that was the root of the trouble.
Feeling loads better today though the extraction was painful as the infections stopped the Novocaine from taking effect. Ouch
Have to have one the other side taken out ion two weeks, which is heading the same way as the first one.
I don't like this aging process, I'm starting to fall apart.

Pretty much the only thing I regret about being a kid is that I didn't take good care of my teeth. Right fuckers when they go wrong.
Sounds like you're better off without those ones though, coffs.

I'm kinda the same. Thankfully, I now have a dentist that is very good and after a lot of work before my weeding, I was confident enough to show a smile or two.
I know!
The whole industry, from what I gather, has changed enormously for the good over the last 20 years though.

Certainly am, though I'm putting back the second extracyion as I'm feeling pretty low at the minute, first cold of the winter, can do without coughing and spluttering when someone is trying to pull a tooth out. ;moop:

My teeth are alright. Far from the US dream of pearl whites, but reasonable nick.
I've had my wisdom teeth out, which means I only have receding gums and wear and tear to look forward to. Fortunately I was diagnosed with a "small" jaw early so had some extras taken before I suffered anything serious.

So I had a check-up for the old robot eye yesterday and they saw that the running (permanent) stitch has broken, so after a chat with the consultatnt today, I got a call back to say that I'll be having an operation within six weeks to get that taken out. Don't know if it's an overnight stay or whatever (my initial thoughts are that I will) or what sort of post-op care/time off I'll have, but meh... there you go.
Bastards.

Balls, Moo. Is there anything else they can do to help it?
|
|
|
Post by Moo on May 21, 2014 9:34:30 GMT
The balls? No, they're eye specialists.
I have some meds to take (which make me nauseous) as they had to snip the end off the broken stitch and essentially I have a hole there now, but what I don't know is if they will replace the stitch. If they do, I think it's be a couple of weeks off work, which isn't ideal.
