I've been watching my friend play the battles in Rome and indeed they look mental. 1200 v 800 over in 5 minutes...crazee. Actually been playing with eyepatched Civ 4 and it's great, I love the pants off it. Playing the same friend in a hotseat multiplayer game and thus far I'm creaming him. Woot. Rome's fun. Big armies. Big death counts, the units seem to stick around for longer than in MTW and more willing to butcher each other down to the half dozen or so before fleeing like big girls. CIV4 is tres bon. Haven't played it for a month or so to tell the truth, but I enjoyed it. Particularly that religious stuff, love invading other nations culturally and spiritually.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with irrational attractions to computer game characters.
Though one of my favourites is the PC I play in Jagged Alliance 2 so maybe it's just another form of narcissim.
I once again must state my overwhelming preference for the vastly more interesting Fall-from-Grace over Annah, though.
Rome does look like fun DC, I'm going to play it if I ever manage to defeat the AI in the Hungarian game of MTW:VI I'm currently playing. Just had the horde invade, beat them up in Kiev (mmm...bridgey) and killed their king so they only lasted all of three years. Poofs.

Annah is better because a) she's all tough exterior but inside all she really wants is some good loving b) she's got a much better accent, c) she's the character who kills the most baddies but is all fuzzy on the inside, and d) she has a tail.
SPOILER oh and e) the bit where she dies at the end is the one of the most moving moments in computer games ever. That and the first time you develop howitzers in Civ 2.

That medieval thing looks just like teh fluff or something down that alley. Just like Civilization 4, which is a healthy double helping of fluff with no open borders.

Was looking at LoTR 2, but shriek when it wants about 5GB of my HDD space.
