We then have another run of 6 games (3 wins, 3 draws0 which sees this happen, all teams played 36 of 38:
1. Borac 71 +34 2. OFK Beograd 68 +38 3. Napredak 66 +20 4. Vozdovac 65 +32 5. CSK PIVARA 65 +19
So there was still a chance, but our GD has killed us.

Still lurking nicely Moo, you are in with a shout at least. A run of 8 wins should easily see you up. EVen if yu don't manage it, you've done well in what was probably a tougher season than the first with all those super-leaguer coming down. KUTGW!

Oh I missed the last post. Not quite the 8 wins but good all the same, and you still have an outside chance providing it doesn't go to goal difference. This one damned fine effort.

Ouch and then Yay, and then Meh. Yay on the whole though, and any other season and I think you'd have been doing a lot of Yaying.

Not enough Yaying, TBH. Providing I win the last two gaes, I need a lot of help from other teams, which isn't going to happen, is it?
I've negotiated a three year contract with the club and retained my wage and transfer budgets for next year, so I should be fine for getting some new players in for next season's attempt at promotion. The problem I have is finding those willing to join. My scouts also found very little in their latest trips (apart from Mister 45) and so they need to do some proper work here. I'll do a run down of the squad at the end of the season, I think, as I haven't done one yet, despite threatening to do so.

Try the SL reserves teams. They have some players who might join you, and some look really decent too.

It's only since Promotion that my scouts have started noticing the SuperLeague reservists. It's worth a shot Moo.

I've always gone for players in the reserves of the division above. It's something that any manager of any team in a lower league is going to through. It's silly, as your scouts should be looking in those teams from the off.

Shush, you're telling everyone my strategy. Yeah, I do that anyway. Most of my Mosonmagyaróvar team in our promotion year were reserves from the league above with values of 50k, selling price of 2k. Gotta love that sort of deal. In Serbia though, I have tried to resist going down that route and relying on the scouts. But seeing as that isn't quite enough, I'll resort to the afore-mentioned way of doing things. Thinking about my squad, the only players I must keep are DLC Insert Here (drawing attention from a lot of clubs), new acquisition MRC Happy In Slough and SC Stories For Phil. The others would be expendable and droppable for new purchases. I think all of my reserve team are leaving the club in the summer as they're out of contract and the youth aren't really all that good. I might keep a couple of them for a year, to see how they come on, but that would be it.

I don't mind mid-table mediocrity, Pops, It's my aim every season. However, when you get close to promtion™ a couple of seasons in a row, you get delusions of grandeur, thinking you can get to the hallowed arena of the Serbian SuperLeague. Oh how wond'rous that would be.... Ahem... so aye, mediocrity - it's all good.

I've never been to Ibiza thankfully. I think the closest I'll get to that is watching the Balamory DVD.

I've never been to Ibiza thankfully. I think the closest I'll get to that is watching the Balamory DVD. You don't know what you are missing. :humb: I've been 3 times, mind the last time was 19 years ago, when I threatened to teach some Oirish twunt involuntary swallow diving from his own balcony, if he didn't turn his bleeding music down at 4am in the morning. I wouldn't have minded so much if we had been in the middle of San Antonio and the hotel was an 18-30 dump. The hotel staff threw him and his party out the very next morning. Suffice to say I've not been back.

More like it was supposed to be a family hotel and the kids were whinging because they couldn't sleep. We just happened to be in the room/apartment next door, the rest of our floor and floors above and below were out complaining, I just happened to be the first to get to him.
I was nice and polite until up to the point I realised he was just a cunt, then I thought he needed teaching what a Saturday night in Middlesbrough was like at chucking out time. Luckily for him his friends were more reasonable and managed to hold me back by blockading the door.

We won our penultimate game, but it still meant we were three points behind and chasing a GD of 10 goals, so our draw with Srem knacked us thusly: 3rd again.... :moop:

So, what next....?
Well, I released a load of players from the reserves and youth, to try and free up some wages. I'm going to have a decent amount of cash to spend, as I think that one of my stars will go, but more of that in the electrifying squad round up. :cab:
Keepers 29yo Syndicated Chocolate is my starter and did fine when fit, he missed half the season through injury. Deputy I Like Them Thick was more than capable, although I think that he isn't a #2 at all. If I can pick up a top notch keeper I will, but in any case, I need another bairn to groom into something for the future.
Defenders Right back Inactive Schedule was an ever present in the league and played very well. We had a capable back up, Icy Knackers who was biding his time. On the left, both Bus By Post and Crystal Account were quality, but it was often difficult who to keep on the pitch and there's no way you could have both on unfortunately. DC Press Button was acquired last summer and seemed to compliment Insert Here very well. The latter was the one highlighted to me at the start of this challenge as the one to watch. After an indifferent first season, he seems to have matured since signing his full time contract. Twisty Straw was a capable back up when called upon, but he's on the short side, so won't be hanging around for too long.
Midfielders DMs Different Gravy and Funny Globetrotter were adequate, but I could get better, I hoped. A youngster was waiting in the wings, but may not get the chance because he was refusing to go full time. Also through the middle, Happy In Slough was a real find. He'd displaced the great Recruitment Policy in the attacking role even though the latter scored 13 goals last season. I may have to tinker to try and get the pair of them in the side together. One way would be to sell Warwick Escapade for 750k plus 150k in 6 months, which was about to happen. I bought im for 1k last summer, so it was a decent deal. We also had 19yo Bored Messiah waiting for a chance as well as Drop The Boy who had already voiced his concern at the lack of chances. Subliminal Message was getting on a little and so would have a season or so in him before he went to the glue factory. On the left, Sorry Rabble was hoping that Deny The Facts would break a bone or two. It would be the end of the world if he did, I think I was covered on the left wing.
Strikers We had four to speak of: newly acquired 17yo Cameroonian Mister 45, the prolific Stories For Phil who was a little injury prone, but stuck them away when needed, Technically Eight who seemed to have an old head on his 23yo shoulders and wee bairn Eye Dish who again, was gagging for an opportunity.
Conclusions Basically, we can improve everywhere, especially with the impending cash from the Warwick Escapade deal, but I wouldn't be going mad. A keeper is a deffo, as is a right back to challenge for a slot and I would like an experienced striker, I think.
Let's go shopping...

So near yet so far, but a mighty fine effort considering the number of ex Superleague sides you were up against. Next season is the one you need to go up on. I've got money on it. KUTPW! :thumb: (Progressing)

It's like that Metallica song these last few season with your mob here Moo. Next season looks good, as you seem to have the measure of the league now.
Your also looking promising on the player front, what with being able to spend money on players. Nice move you've got lined up there too.

The deal for Warwick Escapade went through and I now have just over €1m in the transfer kitty. I progressed for a couple of weeks after that sale, but the players willing to come to me doesn't seem to have changed at all, so I think I'll wait until the AI has decided that the season is over properly and look again. The good thing about Serbia is that there are a lot of players who would be huge improvements on your team that can be picked up quite cheaply. One striker I saw and liked the look of was only €150k, so six of those signings would use up my transfer budget, but give me a great chance of promotion. Although if I can get them for a couple of grand each, I'd rather that.

6 players at £150k at that level should see you walk the title, especially on full time training.

That's what I'm thinking. To be honest though, it's one of those situations where you think "Can I scrape some bargains together to save the cash for the big league?" or just go for it. I'm thinking of the second approach.
