Shame Cahill doesn't sound a bit rude.
It would have to be Cackhill. Oh well.

The BBC are bogging it up big time: 89 mins: GOAL Australia 1-2 Japan Substitute Tim Cahillmakes it 2-1 with his second goal, a shot from the edge of the box which hits Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi's right-hand post and flies into the far corner. Since when did Cahill play for Japan and when did the Japanese goalie swap for Schwartzer?

What ever happened to those little match display thingies they had last world cup which showed where all the shots were taken from on a little pitch. And stuff.

They're still there, but they're on Soccernet, Narkle.

We were the better side, the final score flattered us a bit though. The first goal was a combination of poor closing down, Schwarzer being an idiot and him also getting fouled. He should have charged that ball and smashed the Jap foward into next week, instead he went at it half hearted and got a little barge. Foul, but his own fault.
Oh, and "Super" Guus Hiddink couldn't have got the players more wrong in the first half. Emerton in midfield? Kewell in the middle? Wilkshire on the right (in the team at all, for that matter)? God only knows where Bresciano was playing?
He slowly sorted it out in the second half I suppose. But still. Klinsmann for Australia!

Is Schwartzer still wearing that face mask or is he cured now?

It's nice to see the 2 foot Japanese keeper thinking that he can cut a cross in a crowded penalty area.
Bet he was trying to imitate Schwarzer. Oh wait, he did make a fool out of himself. Fair play then.

Yesterday's game have renewed my faith in the World Cup, Soccerball and life itself. Hosannah! I actually found myself curiously drawn to the Italy-Ghana game, despite the result.

It was like a good old-fashioned dingdong, if you see what I mean. The Italians actually looked sweet in some parts and that Toni led the line like Vieri never did.
Yesterday's set of games resurrected my glee a bit too, I have to say.
I know there's all this "rooting for the underdog" rubbish, but I would quite like one of the big guns to come out and give a football masterclass- it's all been quite bitty.

I particularly liked Johnny Ghana's extravagent dive in the penalty box. Fantastic! That's something that's been missing from the tournament so far.

Apart from those, pops, aye. I was meaning more his work rate and the fact that him and Appiah had 90% of Ghana's possession between them, everything went through them.
I particularly liked Ghana's left back in the first half, Pappoh. i thought of you immediately, Pops.

I liked that Ghana had a player called Ping Pong, but the best masterclass™ so far has come from the Czechs and they always looked like they were playing within themselves. When they turned it on, the US had no answer, but they always had a look over the parapet before deciding to pour over the top, which I guess is modern poofball defined.
The game also confirmed why England won't win the cup - we don't have a Nedved, who can render hours of tactical defensive practice impotent with one pass and a haircut.
Our version of the eight yard pass that Nedved used to give Rosicky the third is Becks and Gerrard launching another pinpoint sixty yard pass onto Robotinho.
