Part I
So it was that time of the year again (well, one of two) where I ventured over to the Royal Victoria Infrimary in "sunny" Newcastle to visit the Consultant who was going to tell me my eye was still knackered. He didn't disappoint me. Although this time, he said that the condition was now so advanced that there was nothing further they could do to assist me...
...other than a corneal transplant.
The decision is now mine to make. The hubble telescope lens I have in my right eye is now irritating the eye too much for their liking causing scarring. As long as I OK with this then I can keep wearing it, but as soon as I decide that I can't bear it any more, then I can ask for the op.
This would mean 4-6 weeks off work, which in my current situation is not ideal, what with me contracting and being paid by the day, so I'll have to try and get a permanent job where the employers will be happy with me being absent for up to six weeks and having to visit the hospital weekly for a month after the "rest" and then monthly for a further year. Unlikely.
The other option is to work constantly in a contracting capacity all the way until August, getting as much money in as possible, going to Florida for two weeks, then signing on the dotted line for the op as soon as I get back. More likely.

Part II
So, after being told back in October that I was about to be made redundant, I was more than a little concerned as to how I was to afford shampoo for the little 'un. Let's face it, that's a lot of shampoo required. Anyhoo, I started to feel a little bit of a "flutter" (the only way I can describe it) in my chest and didn't think anything of it. Through my unemplyed phaze, these flutters were a little bit more common, but I thought i was just a little bit of stress, nothing more.
(NB these flutters feel a bit like when you're put in an awkward situation and you get that nervous pounding in your chest. Pounding is too strong a word for it, but we'll just say that it was like that.)
So after a bit of cojoling (and because I had to take yesterday off work anyway) I went to the docs to see if it should be anything to worry about. Blood pressure is up, which I could have guessed at, but apparently I do occasionally have a weak beat in my heart rhythm. It's not a missed beat, just one of them is a little weaker than it should be sometimes.
So I'll be getting an ECG scan to see if there is a problem and something called an "echo scan" which looks to see if there is anything wrong with the walls of the heart.
Yay!
So yeah, I didn't have the best of days yesterday.
