Aye. so i'll more than likely be relegated to Div 7? Is there a Div 7? You've taunted me enough to take this to the end of the season at any rate. I'll try and see if I can make out what is going on again. I tried a couple of weeks ago, but lost interest, TBH

There is a div 7, aye - it's where Hornet and DC live. Chances are though that Hornet will be making room for us by getting promoted to dic six.

Dic six? Nice typo. So that would be two spaces in Div 7 then?

I'm trying to get a team into this thing - I've signed up and I'm on the waiting list. How come some people start in div six and some start in div seven?

Luck, basically. Although as a new team, the players you will get will all be at a level more accustomed to level seven, meaning that you'll get humped hard and often.
Ahem...
It appears that I am in this situation with Milburn FC and am expecting to be relegated at the end of the season.

I arranged a friendly with smoe team or other last night and was beaten 4-0, using a 5-3-2 formation, supposedly playing to my strengths. ha!
I'm doomed.
But in other news, I'm trying to splash the cash today on a couple of midfielders that will add some age to my youthful team. Oh and skill, don't forget skill.

I'll probably see you down there, although my league table is quite tight, apart from the top two.

Do you have anything to spend 800?

I have a little to spend. Looks like I need to, too, as we lost our first game 3-1. We scored in the second minute, but our central midfield were rubbish, and we only got 19% of possession through the whole game. Bah!

19% and still managed to score? Nice.
I wonder if you hadn't of scored whether you hadn't pissed them off to go and score 3.

We finally got our second win of the league season, quite a convincing 6-1 thrashing of 6th place ABCDE FC. We're still struggling to stay clear of promotion, however. The table looks a little like this:
P Team Pld W D L F A W D L F A GD Pts 1 Stanley Victor 12 6 0 0 33 2 5 0 1 31 8 54 33 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2 Arsenal Sunderham 12 6 0 0 28 4 5 0 1 27 8 43 33 3 Peg Leg Utd 12 4 0 2 32 11 5 0 1 41 4 58 27 4 Any Holes A Goal FC 12 4 0 2 13 19 2 1 3 9 21 -18 19 5 aston villa r us 12 1 0 5 6 21 2 0 4 3 16 -28 9 6 ABCDE FC 12 2 0 4 9 18 1 0 5 6 28 -31 9 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 7 Man University 12 0 1 5 3 24 2 0 4 7 21 -35 7 8 Boon's Urban Gorillas 12 1 0 5 8 30 1 0 5 5 26 -43 6
Our final games are against aston villa r us, and then top side Stanley Victor. I'm hoping we can beat aston villa, and then we really could do with grabbing a point against Stanley Victor, as our goal difference isn't looking so hot. Unfortunately, I think we're destined to go down this year. It's a shame, as I only picked up the team after 6 games in the league, all of which we'd lost by default, 5-0. I was always behind the 8-ball, but I thought I'd have a chance picking up 9 points. There were a couple of surprise results, though, and it now looks like 9 points won't be enough with our dodgy goal difference.

We had a very good 1-2 against Phil's Leprechauns where we had most of the possession, even took the lead, but their clinical finishing did us.. We play The Mighty Dons away next and then a home tie against DanspanFC which should decide who goes down, I think. Meanwhile, I lost 2-1 at home to the second placed team this week, but 5-0 and 4-1 wins in the two weeks before lifted me to mid-table safety/obscurity. ----------------------------------------------------------------- P Team Pld W D L F A W D L F A GD Pts ----------------------------------------------------------------- 1 fc ringwraiths 9 12 6 0 0 44 1 5 0 1 42 3 82 33 ----------------------------------------------------------------- 2 BrockhamBadgers 12 6 0 0 34 3 5 0 1 27 10 48 33 3 Man Doodles 12 4 1 1 18 11 4 0 2 18 11 14 25 4 Sink the Bismarck 12 3 0 3 16 9 2 0 4 10 24 - 7 15 5 Nizel FC 12 2 1 3 12 22 2 0 4 2 19 -27 13 6 Higgins' Hobos 12 1 2 3 4 18 1 2 3 9 17 -22 10 ----------------------------------------------------------------- 7 1690 Loyal Fc 12 1 1 4 8 24 0 2 4 2 26 -40 6 8 pinner albion 12 1 0 5 2 26 0 1 5 4 28 -48 4

That's excellent progress Stu. Is that down to better training or were you just playing crap teams?

Post by Mr Bismarck's Electric Donkey on Nov 8, 2006 20:34:15 GMT
I was lucky that the team above me changed owners and so lost all their good players, but I think I had enough to stay up anyway. I'm training goalkeepers, which is a much faster training program, which means I have a dodgy outfield, but once you get past them, you have a keeper who's halfway between solid and excellent to beat.
Best news for me was last week and four weeks again, when I used the "Play it Cool" option, which basically tells your team they're fooked this week, so don't put too much into it. Despite using that, I lost those two games 4-3 and 2-1, which suggests I could have got more points, had I needed them.

We won again at the weekend, but things are still looking bad for us. We didn't win by enough goals, only managing a 2-0 scoreline. Yeah. We're playing top club Stanley Victor in the last round, though. We will lose that one. I'm just hoping somehow we only lose by one goal, and someone else loses by a shitload. That's our only real chance.
