Well, he's known up here as Faddy. As in, you know, a fad. It's a phase, that's all.

Looks good there Pops, with lots of goals going in. Oh, and big OUCH was there too. I guess you and CM were never on the same page unless there was a moment within one of your saves when there is one.
I thought McFadden too, but didn't know his knock either.

A big "ouch" on that one, Pops. You never had that bother on 0001, IIRC, as that feature wasn't in there, it was pre-bozzer, I think. So aye, another £3M in the Gers' pocket, you did it on purpose, didn't you? You are Graeme Souness. The vast majority of my players in CM00/01 come through judicious stealing via the Bosman rule My current side has nicked Sebastian Deisler, Diego Sebastian Crosa and a bunch of great French kiddies thanks to Bozzer :humb: I doubt there's been a CM00/01 player who hasn't taken Phillipe Mexes on a Bosman at least once too. Unlucky, Pops - managing your contracts and being aware of who's about to nick off is critical in the Bosman era

When I was in the lower leagues or small countries, I used to try offering as much as I could but on a rolling contract. I landed some big names that way, like a 34yro Zidane to the third teir of English football with Nottm Forrest. At the age of 36, I had a million dollar bid for him, and he lasted until I got to the Premier League.
I had Chieso in Denmark too, Desaiily when I was in France. That one big name player would be enough to build the team around, boost the rep and then be able to get a slightly less crappier quality of pile to your club.

I've had Mexes

Pinching Mexes? I thought it was an ancient bylaw, or old charter or something.

I've never signed Mexes. Or the other one that everyone used to go for, whose name I can't remember.
I can remember that Moo had a cheeky bid in for him at CotD¹ though.

Cissé?
Me either. By the time I was in a position to bid for him he was already at a big club. Or smething.

No, not Cisse. Not silly To Madeira either. Someone cheeky. It happened before the beer kicked in, so I'm fairly sure it's an actual memory too and not a hazy imagination. Like Boo's Man United shirt.

Moo went for Mark Kerr in CotDi. I think he got him, too.

Lean on, Macpuff.
We sign Flumpsville USA, MRC, 25, ENG from Coventry for 350k, rising potentially to 525.
You see, this is the problem with lots of good scouts- they send you gatrillions of players. And I had this sudden urge to surround myself with midfielders. Weird? Yes. But, more to the point, with 13M quid, I can.
It's a Phase agrees to move to Rangers, rejecting the other offers.
A v Clyde: 1-1: Champagne Frontage
H v Ayr: 3-0: Champagne Frontage ; Dallas Ploughboy ; Massive Moustache (p)
I sign another MC, Trick Baby from Raith for 500k, inc addons.
I reject a 350k bid for Consonantless, my French defender. You can pretty much assume from now on that every day I receive at least three bids for players in my squad. Also assume I reject them all, unless I write otherwise.
I get Manager of the Month for November, Dallas Ploughboy gets Player of the Month.
A v Ross County: 3-3: It's a Phase ; Hope Springs Infernal ; Champagne Frontage
I was 3-0 up after 30 mins, the bastards.
H v Dunfermline: 5-3: Dallas Ploughboy ; Kitty Jay ; Champagne Frontage 2 ; Massive Moustache
Nice win against fellow promotion hopefuls. One spot up is a fierce fight.
December comes and Wee Man moves to Livvy- I get 210k comp ; It's a Phase moves to Heaven and I get 350k.
Champgane Frontage announces he's leaving on a Bozzer at the end of the season. Six clubs chase his sig and he signs with Elche. I'm not going to be an idiot and drop him, because his goals are invaluable to the 'push'. If and when we get promtion, I'll set him to train as a goalie, because I am a bastard.
I could have had 2.2M for him. Oh well.
A v Alloa: 2-1: Dallas Ploughboy ; Healthy Fondlings (1st for club)
My Chilean finally pops his cherry.
I accept a 230k bid from Notts County for Gorgonzola and he moves.
I hotly deny rumours of Skywalker leaving.
A v Berwick: 2-2: Champagne Frontage ; Dallas Ploughboy
Dallas criticises the club and lack of quality. I ignore the goit.
Sign Cat Girl Tights from Peterhead for 140k. A young, highly-recommended DMC. Groomed to take over from It's a Phase.
Champagne Frontage gets Player of the Month. I have three players now who dislike Dallas Ploughboy. Join the club.
We draw Rangers in the 3rd Rd League Cup.
Now, let me tell you the tale of a goalie. A young 17yo (now 18) goalie from Norwich. Highly recommended by my top scout at the start of the season, his value is 40k. I went to 250 before giving up, but kept my eye on him- he's a star. Now Arsenal weigh in with a 1.3M bid. Gah.
If they want him... I go 1.75M with inclusions. 1M down. For a goalie! What am I on? Perhaps the safe knowledge that he will want to go to Highbury (or Elland Rd, as Leeds wade in too).
No. He comes north. Lank Piper. Watch for his star.
A v Falkirk: 3-2: Healthy Fondlings 3 Good win against 2nd placed club- you go, girl.
H v Clyde: 2-1: Very Banana ; Healthy Fondlings
Our 69 Div 1 goals is a new record. Blackburn bid 1.1M for Dallas- I ask 5M, they run and he is now quadruply Unh.
A v Ayr: 3-1: Massive Moustache (p) ; Dallas Ploughboy ; Skywalker
Lank Piper debuts halfway through as Ancient Loo Roll is injured. Puts in a solid 7.
Dallas Ploughboy has 25 goals now this season and his 61 for the club is a new league goals club record.
H v St Mirren: 5-2: Dallas Ploughboy ; Kitty Jay ; Massive Moustache 2 ; Cat Girl Tights (1st for club)
Awesome result.
So the table: P24 W18 D5 L1 F77 A41 Pts 59
Falkirk are second with 41. 18 points ahead, 14 games left.
I daren't say it.

Nice work on the keeper. He must like the cut of your jib. Or the fact that he'll be more involved with you than he would be at Arsenal. Not many keepers get the opportunity to defend against 15 shots on target a week, I'm sure...

Moo went for Mark Kerr in CotDi. I think he got him, too. I think it was Mark Tobin, not Kerr. Other fella, s1ut... do you mean Chivu? Don't recall going for him. And we all went for Seba Veron I think.

And nice work on the league here, Pops. Those shenanigans with Dallas are annoying though, 5M was asking too much, but i understand why you did that.
Keepers are poofs, Pops, but a good one less so. I don't blame you for splashing on him. So to speak.

I seem to remember it mentioned that S1ut wasn't exactly innocent in the "grab name player" stakes either, what with him signing Whassisname Huckerby.

Veron was CotDii. Lazio really didn't want to sell him to Japan. We offered all kinds of money Tonton Zola Mokouko?

Kim Källström?
I actually had him at Palace in one 0001 game. But I waited a decent interval before buying him so I could convince myself it wasn't just a name buying.

I also bought The Best Football Player in the World™ in 99/00, but that was before I had discovered the "wonders" of player naming on the Interynet/seen him doing well in a different save game and I bought him because I'd heard of him in real life.

Tonton! Bless him.
Dallas will stay, I think. Annoy everyone at the club until he gets away on a Bozzer or an Unprotected or something, or until I get a decent offer.
I'm not about to sell him for peanuts when the man has hit 25 goals so far this season. He can bugger off when we're in the SPL.
If the keeper lives up to his stats, he will be a stunner. If...
I was panicking about Wee Man going, but actually have three damned good keepers now.

Oh aye. Scott Huckerby tore my CotD team a new pantfish one year. Bloody Telford-knowledge :moop:
I think my big name buys included Dean Holdsworth and, um, some Croatian international striker whose name escapes me. Not Suker.
