Probably.
Weight's far more important than battery life.

I noticed my AVG database wasn't getting updated automatically yesterday, it's probably been like that since I got back form holiday, so I tried to set it up to automatic, Nada, the saves just wouldn't take. I uninstalled and re-installed it, that worked, the scan revealed at least 4 Trojans in the system which have loaded since I went away, on of them disabled the auto updates to AVG. ![](http://www.geocities.com/jacquesdebohun/smilies/moop.gif) bastards. I've removed them all, Mrs C's profile got destroyed in all the faffing, she's not happy. However she is the most likely person to have visited a dodgy site or clicked a dodgy email. I don't I wouldn't mind but the Trojans that were loaded were known about in 2006 so why didn't AVG stop them from loading in the first place?

I suspect the two aren't related. AVG has issues now and then with the database not updating which then somehow kills the process on your PC - you don't notice because there's no indication, there just isn't an icon in the systray any more.
Then the trojans get on.
In fact, in writing this, I've just noticed that my AVG icon isn't running either.

There was a strange red shield overlayed over the AVG icon indicating a problem.

I watched Dark Star on Saturday night. Interesting parody of 2001: A Space Odyssey, very funny in places, very bleak in others. I loved the balloon alien, and the special effects as they flew through some asteroids. Anyone else seen it?

Well, I'm not going to ban myself, am I? Who else would be able to run this place as effectively as I do? It's hard work, keeping Moo and DC in check...

There's a lot of admin abuse of privilege at the moment. I made a comment on Horn's blog hours ago and he's still hasn't authorised it.
--Edit-- Ok, now he has. This is exactly the sort of thing I was on about!!1.

Ok, I'm trying to set up a wireless network at home. Given the fact my laptop is a pile of stone age hardware, it didn't work as immediately hoped. I've got the router sorted but I can't pick up the router on the little USB adaptory thing I have on my laptop. Now this is the stage where I'm thinking I should have gone with infra-red but what is done is done. Talked to the support guys for the little wifi gadget thingymajig (to give it it's technical name) and they said I should run www.ccleaner.com/ on it. Right enough it found like thousands of errors but it costs money to fix them, in the form of a license you have to buy. (incidentally they've done a decent job of disguising the fact that you will have to pay for it until after you've downloaded the application and scanned the first time. The cheeky gits). Anyone know of reliable free exes that will do the same thing, or how I can get the ccleaner thing to work without parting with a bunch of cash?

As far as I can see from the features, apart from the registry cleaner, you could do most of it fairly easily for yourself.

In the router settings did you hide it from prying eyes? If so your dongle will not detect the router without specifically naming it.

On a personal note my Rangemax wireless USB connector has stopped working and I think it is dead, can anyone recommend a decent reliable wireless connector that works at 108Mbs that won't die after a years use?
Is a USB dongle the best option or a PCMIA card?

I recommend stop using the word dongle. It's silly.

I completely missed the fact that the link I clicked on had been highjacked by RegCure so I wasn't even downloading the program I thought I was. I am the stone age neanderthal. And yes coffs. I don't see how the cc thing is going to help.

I recommend stop using the word dongle. It's silly. It's an excellent word, that was used years ago to describe a gadget that stuck out of computer sockets, I see no reason to adopt the new fangled terms like adaptor that are used today. :humb:
