It's mostly spot on, to be fair.

Tom Brady has renegotiated his deal with the Patriots.
He's now signed through 40 years of age and will cost less against the cap next year than Mark Sanchez.

I might actually LOL.
Not for the cap space (and it looks like a poke at the Green bear), but that Brady thinks his knees will last that long.

Well, Bernard Pollard will probably retire before Brady so he only really needs to avoid him for another couple of seasons.

Brady said yesterday "they don't put a wing in the Hall of Fame for the guys who make the most money." His renegotiation makes it more likely the Pats will move a bit more on keeping Welker another year, as they have a bit more cash and even Billy isn't that interested in spiting his own face to lose Welker, if they can sign him to a single year deal. There's talk up here about Welker signing a five year deal, but that would surprise me unless it's a low guarantee and then a lot of performance based triggers. Here's Billy at the combine this weekend, paying close attention to the future of the NFL.

It's tough being a cheater.
Welker on a five year deal would be more suprising than Brady's knees holding out. I can't see that at all. I'd give him three maximum, but saying that, I expected us to go for Danny Amendola from St Louis.

I like Alex Smith, I really do, but the Chiefs are just knobs. They're not necessarily getting a better QB than Cassell, they're opting not to bother trying to get one of the project QB's in the draft, and have given up a high pick (and conditional) that they could otherwise have used to pick up say...err......anyone to help Jamaal Charles out on offence.
People saying "this makes sense" are also knobs.
I don't think Smith, who struggled for 5 years on a team just like the Chiefs, is somehow going to turn around a franchise that seems to be nowhere near even the 49ers roster strength when Smith finally got half a chance to build on a foundation.
Improve roster - give QB a chance.

It seems a poor move. When the coaching in SF was bad, so was Smith, so I expect to see much more original Alex Smith than New Improved Alex Smith. Especially as the chiefs gave away a 2 which could have been used to pick someone to try that blocking thing everyone's talking about.
Football Outsiders point out Smith is excellent against the big blitz. I don't think anyone needs to big blitz against KC to get to the Quarterback. One pass rusher on his own would probably get there often enough.

Experts on NFL.com suggest this is the awesomest move ever because the Chiefs were only a QB and a coach away from beating Denver and now they have Alex Smith (QB) and Andy Reid (Coach) and 6 Pro Bowlers!! Not sure how to break it to them that Andy Reid has had lots of QB's, but doesn't have that great a record winning superbowls and that the Pro Bowl is unfortunately far from representative of awesome (plus your Punter cannot be a star player).

Just caught up on NFL news this week (I've been in London since Monday, leaving in an hour) and I'm not surprised the Chiefs went for him. I don't think it's a bad move, it's not the missing piece though. Dave, I think your "give the QB a chance" point is an interesting way to look at it, TBH. Cassell is decent, has shown glimpses, Smith has had more sustained good play, due to having a bit of stability. Did one report say 7 co-ords in 7 years? That can't be good.
If KC are wanting to keep Reid for a few years, then that has to be good for whoever is the QB and Smith probably has more upside, IMO.

Remember that amusing mock draft at the top of the page and how the Dolphins' pick would be "a reach."
From today's mock draft on Yahoo :
Yep.

I don't think the consistency of moving from the 49ers to the Chiefs is going to be supportive of Smith...are they going to give him 3 years at the helm with Andy Reid? Is Andy Reids offence even remotely similar? I mean there's no guarantee that Cassel would have adapted any better to Reids offence, but as a franchise looking to rebuild surely you stick with the incumbent unless you think you're significantly upgrading (particularly at the cost of potentially two second round picks). At least when the Seahawks went for Matt Flynn they were doing so knowing that they honestly had fuck all to start with. I'm also concerned that Smith is going to turn up in KC with no WR's (Breaston and Bowe are gone) and only one RB, a poor O-Line, and some "Pro Bowlers" of whom one is a Punter.

He's done well. However, she needs to use some of that new contract money for a boob job.

Slow clap for the Ravens.

Richard Sherman totally dicked Skip Bayliss on national TV, which was nice.
I only wish Sherman was as smooth as Sanders was when running his mouth, because I agreed with every word that came out of his mouth - but he sounded sleepy.

TBH, I was hoping you'd bite harder than that. Seriously though, I thought Matt Moore looked OK when he was QB, is Tanehill better? I wasn't sure about making him the starter but Tannehill looked OK too. What's the craic?
