Pats have signed Adrian Wilson, John Abraham and apparently are on the verge of signing Kyle Arrington.
It's as if they had a problem on defence last year...
Meanwhile, the Dolphins have poached Dustin Keller from the Jets.

Meanwhile, some sort of clusterfuck between the Broncos and Elvis Dumerville has led to Denver failing to place contract paperwork with the league in time and so the Defensive End has officially been released.
The Denver Front Office and Dumervil's camp are, of course, blaming each other - Denver says Dumervil took too long to agree the new deal, while Dumervil's agent says he had about 12 minutes to review the deal and get it signed and returned.
Apparently the dead money cap hit Denver take as a result of the release means they will find it difficult to resign him.
Oops!

Then I see a headline "Flacco traded to New England" and had a heart attack.
Turns out it's the Orioles' Mike Flacco, going to the Red Sox in LLAPWASIFONOSBSGWACOHF.

Gutted about Danny, I liked him. Kyle Arrington wouldm't get a 4 week deal off me, never mind a 4 year deal. The others - Wilson, Abraham, possibly Freeney... I know we need some experience, I just hope we're getting them cheaply.

Are you trying to tell me that Billy is evil and that Tommy is a greedy, single-minded freak of nature? Fair enough.

I like that one. or rather :moop: I'm just a little worried though, Stu, that you're starting to get a bit obsessed with all things Patriots now and you might start stalking Billy. Be careful, I hear he bought a new jetski.

Article on NFL.com of Miamia draft busts. No real argument with most of the selections even if they do stink of "this is an easy money article" without dealing with some of the players that were great - just not necessarily for Miami as it turns out - or mentioning the awful patch of the late 90's and early 200's without a single 1st round draft pick.
Anyway, in slot 5 of his worst picks he puts down:
"Ted Ginn Jr. -- 2007 (No. 9 overall) The most recent of Miami's succession of draft busts is Ted Ginn, although we could easily toss in Ronnie Brown (2005), Jason Allen (2006) or even Jake Long (2008). Ginn arrived in Miami to much fanfare, with erstwhile coach Cam Cameron heralding not just Ginn's burning speed, but also Ginn's family, as reasons he was a can't-miss pick for the Dolphins. Three seasons later, he was given to the 49ers for a fifth-round pick. Ironically, the player Dolphins fans wanted in 2007 was QB Brady Quinn, who showed up on the Browns' list of draft busts. They could, however, have picked Darrelle Revis or Patrick Willis in Ginn's place."
I don't dispute Ginn is bobbins, but I'm a bit disturbed that Ronnie or Long are considered in the same breath. Ronnie was let down by injury and having to share plays with Ricky Williams for most of his time in Miami, while Long was an All Pro for 4 or 5 seasons until he left. Surely Yatil Green is "worse" for basically spending 3 years on injured reserve, or Sammie Smith for being a perpetual waste of time?

If you saw some of his other choices (particularly the tied number 1 slot) you'd expect him to choose a few more obvious "busts".

I'm worried about the Patriots' future. We don't have 4,000,000 draft picks this year.

The Jets are working hard to try and make last offseason look like a masterpiece of quietly efficient competence, then.

Yes, but you have two first round picks now, so what could possibly go wrong?
Also, I didn't realise Revis is only 27. I thought he was in his 30s, which is why there was a lot of indecision as to whether he was worth the money. I feel a little silly now.

I'm with your there Moo. I thought he was 29 or something and so thought the Buccs were being a bit bold in trying to grab a long term Ronde Barber replacement who wasn't that much younger.

With two first round picks the Jets can definitely pick Barkley now.
Gnarls Barkley, maybe.
Whoever they pick, I'm going to try to shout "you pantfish!" as loud as possible when Goddell reads out the name.
Unless it's my name.
The last mock I saw had the Jets picking someone called "Barkevious Mingo" - I'll be too busy laughing to shout anything at that name.

Please give him grief. I'd love it if I hear the word Pantfish.
In any case, enjoy the evening, Stu, ye lucky canute, make sure you punch Rich Eisen in the knickers for me, and tell him I have removed his podcast from my list as he's a biased wanker.

Best moment of the night... Joe Namath walked the red carpet, stopped for his photos and someone shouted "what do you think of Sanchez" and he shrugged and went ehhhhhhhhhh....

Never mind Billy trading back, what about the Dolphins trading up and picking someone while I was out getting a fucking beer. Meanwhile, here are your first and second overall picks... I was close enough to the red carpet that I could shout "enjoy Kansas!" at this pair and get a laugh out of Joeckel. Fisher didn't laugh, so I like to think that's why the Chiefs picked him.

The guy the Vikings choose with the Patriots pick was clearly the best dressed guy there : Also, it turns out I'm going to be in a Kevin Costner movie... we were picked to go into the "reaction zone", where we were repeatedly filmed cheering and whooping for various fake players and then Arian Foster, after we were coached to not called him "Arian" or "Foster" or mention Houston. We had to call him "Ray." He looked confused. One of the first guys by was Menelik Watson - the Tackle from Manchester, who ended up not going in the first round. He seemed surprised when I shouted "Mancini out!" at him. Then some fat guy in a big ring walked by... The Dolphins' pick was rocking a bow tie Namath's "what do you think of Sanchez?" face

Awesome trip report, fella. But why is Biz Markie rocking the big ring and red hat?
Your Miami pick looks like he just came 2nd at a spelling bee.

And just to warn you, if you hear Melenik Watson speak, he says "know what I mean" at the end of every sentence.
