Moore got eight million for the same reason Flacco got one hundred and sixty eight million - there's no one else out there.
If we hadn't paid Moore $4m a year then someone else would have - he's shown himself to be a safe pair of hands in relief of Henne and Tannehill and we're soaked in cap room, so why not pay him?
If we let him go then.. what? We going to scratch around for the likes of Drew Stanton and save a mill? Is that worth it when we have someone who knows the offence and has shown he can run it?
If there was a better Quarterback market then maybe we lowball Moore and let someone else pay him, but Sanchez is guaranteed $8 this year, Kansas gave away two second round picks for a back up who struggled without very specific coaching and Baltimore had to have Fort Knox make new dollars so they could pay Flacco. Then looking at the draft, the top-rated prospect is Matt Barkley, who is so much the next Sanchez, that there's solid expectation the Jets will draft him.
Supply and demand, man.

Surely the Jets couldn't be so incompetent as to draft Mark Sanchez twice.

I like this : Current CBS mock draft : ![](http://imgur.com/p0DjE0I.jpg) Good news! He's the best bits of Sanchez and Leinart combined!

Stu - it's good point about Moore and I'm sure he doesn't mind taking the cash, to be fair.

Geno Smith in the first round is a bit of a reach shirley. I know that Wilson did well this year and it's a poor draft season, but there's no way I'd be pitching that high (especially as the Bills).

The mocks I've seen have one QB in the mid-late first round, but they're probably overestimating the Bills and Jets' competence.

The Seahawks have traded their first and seventh round picks this year and a mid-round pick next year to the Vikings for receiver Percy Harvin.
Seems a steep price, but could be one of those trades where both teams win if he plays up to his talent rather than his attitude.

Harvin & Rice worked well at the Vikes, so I think it's a good add. I mean 1st rounders always seems big spends to me, but the Seahawks are a team with a few very specific needs and they obviously think they can get them later in the draft or free agency.
Boldin to the 49ers is a bigger shock. A 6th rounder is a bargain price if they can do anything remotely with his contract.

I have more of a question with Harvin's fitness than his attitude. He might be a pain but he produces - when he's fit.
Reasonable price to pay for someone you know can perform. There's absolutely no guarantee anyone the Seahawks would have got in the first round would be anywhere near as good as Harvin, and a 7th rounder isn't that much different to an undrafted guy.
And he fits perfectly within their scheme.
Scary stuff.
Boldin's a bit of a meh player to me, he only really did anything in the playoffs last year. Not sure he fits the 49ers scheme either.

Miami going for it this free agency. Two big contracts for Ellerbee and Mike Wallace. Ker-ching!

And released Dansby and we're not resigning Bush. So we get some money back, I guess.
$30m of Wallace's deal is guaranteed, so he's going to need to be around for half a decade to give us some value.
Maybe we can pick up Asomugha for cheap.

No point in trying to guess what Billy is going to do. Even if we sign someone, we'll no doubt cut him before he gets to the facility.

Wes Welker just signed with the Broncos.

Shit, Elway is not holding back is he?
Welker is a heck of an upgrade for Stokley (who I still think is a great WR despite his age) and will be a nice fit between Thomas and Decker. The only thing it seems that the Broncos need is a consistently healthy RB and a field stretching TE.

And some defensive backs who don't prefer waving at the crowd to deflecting passes.

I got one right! Even a stopped clock, etc...
If Brady hadn't signed the extention, Welker would still be there, IMO. Brady won't want to be in the last two years of his contract trying to figure out a new WR, best get one now, I reckon.
Still, I'm sure I'd rather have Welker there.

ESPN today banging the drum that Geno Smith might not even make it to seven for the Bills to sniff at. Too many teams needing a QB and too few out there.

Don't be so harsh on yourself Stu, nobody who plays so many games could be considered lazy.
Shit QB draft classes make it interesting. I don't recall a time so few superlatives were last thrown at a QB class.

The Pats have signed Leon Washington.
Steven Jackson has signed with the Falcons, while released Chief Matt Cassel has gone to the Vikings.

Washington must be a replacement for OOC Danny Woodhead, which is a shame, as I really like Danny.
Washington also returns kickoffs right? THat kinda makes sense then, as Welker was doing a bit of that.
