Culpepper to Miami.
Miami crafts Offensive Line.
Miami go to Superbowl.
Goodnight Irene.
That is all.

They can't do away with the cap. That would be totally bogus in MP leagues.

Culpepper to the Raiders then.
And a box of flowers.

s1ut reckons Culpepper won't go to Miami, or that's what he said on Friday when I chatted to him.

I know that, you know that, but he doesn't. I just keep myself amused by letting him jabber on about stuff and agreeing with him.

Shaun Alexander just about got a pay rise then. 8 year deal for $62 million, $15 million of that payable in his first year. Wow.

Souness to Miami!

Stop it. We won't land Jay Cutler now, because he had an awesome combine and Brees will be out of our range if there isn't a cap. In fact, if the collective bargaining agreement doesn't go through, then we'll be right on the edge of the cap, which will be set at about $94m instead of the $102m or so people are expecting if the CBA is signed. In this case, I'd expect Gus Frerotte to be back under Center next year.
If the cap does go through, we might have a pop at Brees, but Jon Kitna is also on the radar and Saban may decide to stick with Frerotte and then bring in one of the second tier Quarterbacks in the draft, expected to go around the bottom of round two.
Right now I have the Raiders picking Vince Young at #7 in the first round, with Cutler and Leinart already off the board (Titans and Saints) by then. The unimaginatives could bork all of this by trading out of the #1 slot though.
Unless they have medical information that no one else has, or he specifically asks to be released, I can't think of a single reason why the Vikings won't keep hold of Daunte.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him go. Just because the new Vikings boss thinks Culpepper is a tosspot and he's going to cost an absolute bomb. I wouldn't be surpried to see him stay, if he reworks his contract to something more manageable.

I wouldn't be surpried to see him stay, if he reworks his contract to something more manageable. The new boss has a much more direct style than Mike Tice, yes, but that's only a problem if Daunte thinks he is the franchise and not the figurehead. As for his contract, Daunte has already shown good faith in this, by repeatedly deferring a roster bonus he was due at the start of March. I think he's due it on the 16th now, which will be after the decision about the CBA.

Maybe even two steps, now the new CBA is in place.
So, we're sniffing around Brees, who has one arm, and Culpepper, who has one leg.
Maybe we can sign both and then get Fruits to make us one decent player out of the bits.

S'actually tough to work out where Brees and Culpepper could go. Raiders, Miami, Chicago, Browns, Bills, 49'ers and (as always) Cardinals are obvious; but are San Diego really saying they're going to go with Rivers and Feeley?
I still don't think Brees is up to much.

As as another thought, don't San Diego have two first rounders this year and the Giants have none? San Diego are in a reasonable position then still I guess.

I think that was last year, as it's two seasons since the Rivers-for-Pointing-Lite™ trade.
I think the Giants are picking 25thish this year.
And yes, the Chargers are planning to go with Rivers - having the best running back in the league will soften the blow of sticking in an inexperienced passer.

Oh aye it was last year wasn't it.
Hmm. Oh well. He'll have Antonio Gates to throw at anyway, plus LDT is good out of the backfield on the pass. Have no idea what they're doing to draft though, build for the future with a new WR knowing McCardell is on the wind down? Or pick up a WR on freebies because they're ten-a-penny.
Know any sites that have a current cap value of each side?

After having a look at it, DC, the numbers have been changed, but not the commentary. That was done maybe six or seven days ago, before the CBA was agreed, I would expect that they'll update the commentary in the next day or so. Whichever way you look at it, the Raiders are screwed.

The Redskins have $64m tied up in one player with $31m of it guaranteed. Snigger.
