I hope they changed him to a suitably obvious Pro Evo-name style replacement.

Under the Sensible Soccer "Next Vowel" naming system he'd be Eerun Hirnendiz.
That should get Ali G to do the commentary.

PONCE!
I vote for Joe Kinnear to do the commentary. The cant.

Jerry Jones says we're close to having a team back in LA. The concept of relocating teams bamboozles me, although I did love doing it in Madden'08 just so I could rename the team anything I wanted.
At the same time the Redskins are under pressure to change their name...
Potential to resolve both issues there.

Interesting a part sentence appeared in my last post, no idea where from. I blame my phone, obviously.
They should throw caution to the wind and go with the LA Ninja Pirate Vampire Glee Club. Hit all the demographics.

In news yesterday, ACL's everywhere but where they should be. Strange suspensions not for failing drug tests, and a prediction it'll take Peterson 6 seasons to top Emmitt Smiths rushing record at his ypg average - which is obscene.
Jerry Rice sitting atop the pile knows Calvin, in comparison, only needs another 8 seasons of 2000 yards to get there.
It'll be interesting to see where Manning leaves the bar in a few seasons.

The NFL finally had a good idea of what to do with the pro bowl, copying the NHL and the NBA's rising stars game... they'll vote in the top players, as per, but they could all potentially come from the same conference, as the AFC/NFC split is removed.
Once the players are selected, there'll be a draft for two teams run by Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders, who'll then play each other.

The NFL season kicked off last night, surprisingly, because it doesn't seem five minutes since a Denver cornerback couldn't defend a 50 yard heave over his head, thereby proving that Peyton Manning is crap, or something.
Miami looked largely dreadful - both starting and backup left tackles could have been replaced with turnstiles or those waggly-armed plastic air-powered things you see outside car dealerships and it wouldn't have made any appreciable difference. Tannehill was removed after two series, I presume for his own protection.
Dallas scored touchdowns courtesy of a fumble from HB Lamar Miller and an interception return that will go against Matt Moore, but should really be credited to a Receiver who decided the best thing to do with a ball he couldn't catch was to bat it straight up in the air.
That particular receiver has the fantastic name "Bumphis" which quickly became "Bumphins" and then quickly became a description of how poor our offence was.
In the second half it turned out our ninth string was better than their's and so the scores got close, but Miami's defence didn't seem capable of anything when it was needed.
Also Miami's "new blue" is hideous. It's like someone took their lost-at-sea-orange shirts and washed them with a Lions' cheerleaders' knickers.
Lots of work to do.

Gresham against Atkins in the last Oklahoma of the day was excellent. Maybe a slight false start, but I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the offence.

Slight? I cringed a the AJ Green knee and again at Larry Brown's leg/ankle incident, poor bugger. I like Hue Jackson's approach to winding people up though, especially those who were a lot bigger than him, just nudging them off balance a little. I also got a text off The Bairn telling me that James Harrison was a dick. Maybe so, but a dick you'd want on your team, fo' sho'.

Brown cleared waivers yesterday and has been placed on IR.
Meanwhile, watching the Dolphins-Jaguars tonight gives me the first opportunity to see Jacksonville's new uniforms and my first impression is that the new gold-black helmet may be the worst thing I've ever seen. And I've seen Luton play Southend.

I had the pleasure of watching that game on the Jacksonville television network, which is apparently staffed by absolutely massive homers. They spent three hours talking about how happy the coaching staff would be because of two early plays where the Jags got pressure and then gave the game MVP to Denard Robinson, (9 carries, 32 yards), and called him "The Offensive Weapon" frequently enough that it sounded like a trademark.
At the end of the game they talked about the Jags offence finally getting moving when Jacksonville's final drive went 37 yards. 30 of which came on roughing the passer penalties.
The best part of the game was where Justin Blackmon - who is both injured and suspended - got into a verbal slanging match with Dolphin defenders who were actually playing and had to be taken to the locker room.

The Jets sent Mark Sanchez into the 3rd Quarter of their pre-season game against the Giants tonight after Geno Smith accidentally stepped out of the end zone for a safety and threw three interceptions.
Playing behind the reserve offensive line didn't go so well and Sanchez was flattened by Giants defensive lineman Marvin Austin, injured his shoulder and had to leave the game.
Sanchez had been told he would not play in the game and was the consensus favourite to start week one for the Jets, but will now have scans to determine the extent of the injury.
When asked, Head Coach Rex Ryan said he had sent Sanzhez in because he "wanted to win the game."
The pre-season game.
They did win, 24-21 in overtime. So there's that.

Apparently another concussion may have taken care of Kevin Kolb. Not quite what I would have liked to see, but hopefully he sees that he's really not suited to stand behind an offensive line. I never saw the potential that Andy Reid did.
Meanwhile in Sanchez-ville, the Jets should have trusted Sanchez to be the incumbent starter - Geno needs to consistently impress by a significant margin to replace your mediocre starter. Throwing your starter back in with your backup o-line, asking for something nasty to happen.
